Commencement of Bridge Course 2017
Bridge course programme for the new entrants to engineering has been inaugurated & Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal gave a brief introduction on the Bridge Course Programme. Mr Johnson Tellis (Director, Sahyadri Edu DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd.) facilitated the sessions along with team building activities which motivated students to gear up for the upcoming professional course of 4 years. Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, Dr. J V Gorabal, Dean- Academics and Dr. C K Manjunath, Administrator were also present for the programme.
Dr. Molly Chaudhuri appointed as Area Director
 Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, Head, Department of Training has been appointed as the Area Director for Area F1, of Division F of District 92 of Toastmasters International for the period July 2017 to June 2018. She will be in charge of Port Town Advanced Toastmasters Club, Milagres Toastmasters Club, Infosys Toastmasters Club, Mangaluru and TAPMI Toastmasters, Manipal.
Toastmasters International headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, USA, is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. It has more than 345,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 15,900 clubs in 142 countries that make up its global network of meeting locations.

Workshop for Faculty on “Professionalism at Workplace”
A Workshop on “Professionalism at Workplace” was organized with Thirty five faculty members attending the programme. This was conducted primarily for the faculty who are with three & less than three years of experience.
Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal narrated his 30 years of experience in Education through various Case Studies. The prime emphasis was on enhancing professionalism at workplace & also re-iterating that education is a service sector and also sharing the expectation from this profession. Dr. Bhushi stressed on the rapid changes in education system over the years & mentioned that teaching should have an essence of psychology in it which will make it an effective process. He stimulated the faculty members & mentioned of the efforts taken by the institution in grooming them to a facilitator’s role.

Dr. Ashwath Rao takes over as Head of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering
 Dr. Ashwath Rao has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He has 12 years of overall experience in industry & teaching and more than 5 years of research experience. He has obtained his doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad in Microelectronics. He has published several research articles in various science citation indexed journals which includes IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, Springer, Applied Physics Letters, Taylor and Francis etc.
He has obtained his M.S degree in VLSI-CAD from Manipal University, P.G.D.B.A in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, NMIMS University and B.E in Electronics and Communication Engineering from N.M.A.M Institute of Technology, Mangalore University. His areas of research include High-k Dielectrics, Microelectronics, MEMS, VLSI Design and Fabrication, Microelectronic Devices, Radiation effects on Semiconductor devices used for space application.
Mr. Shamanth Rai appointed as Head of the Department of Information Science & Engineering
 Mr. Shamanth Rai has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He has 09 years of overall experience in teaching and more than 4 years of research experience. He is pursuing his doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad in IT department. He has submitted his thesis and received favorable reviewer’s comments and shall be defending his PhD thesis very soon. His area of research is Wireless Sensor Networks. He has published four research articles in various science citation indexed journals of Springer, InderScience. He has a book chapter in CRC press of Taylor and Francis. He also published articles in IEEE international conference.
He has obtained his M.Tech degree in Wireless Communication and Computing, IT from IIIT-Allahabad and B.E in Computer Science & Engineering from PACE, Mangalore.

 Ms. Madhu R has joined the Department of Information Science & Engineering as an Assistant Professor. She has completed her B.E in Computer Science & Engineering from VCET, Puttur & M. Tech in Computer Network Engineering from NMAMIT, Nitte. Her area of Specialization is Computer Network Engineering.

He has completed his B.E in Information Science & Engineering from BGSIT BG Nagar, Nagamangala, Mandya & M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. His area of Specialization is Computer Networks.
