International Women’s Day Celebrated

It is essential for the youth in colleges to be aware of women empowerment. After all, this young crowd is the one that will grow and help transform the nation's future. Moreover, it is easy to be influenced by ideas at a young age. So, why not help our youth in imbibing positive values about the equality of both genders? For this purpose, “Empowering Women” a talk by Bhrahma Kumari, Meera Nagananda was organized in the campus on account of International Women’s Day celebration.

Bhrahma Kumari, Meera Nagananda, Regional director of Bhrama Kumaris for South East Asia, gave an overview of the Bhrahma Kumaris’ Organization. Talking about the empowerment, she stressed on the fact that ‘spiritual empowerment’ would help in maintaining the self respect in women. She also addressed the problems that women are facing in this world, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries, such as lack of education, low mobility, family responsibility, financial constrains and social status. She gave some remedies to overcome these issues and realize the worth of women in society. She also explained the process of empowerment and said to have a balance between masculine and feminine qualities so that one could become empowered. The talk was informative and inspirational.

Pro.(Mrs.)Irene Veigas, Principal Sahyadri Nursing Institution delivered the presidential remark and spoke about the background of women’s day celebration. She emphasized on respecting and remembering women’s achievements not just on women’s day but always. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Shreelatha U.A., AAO introduced the Guest speaker. Dr. Mohandas Bhat, Dean Academics proposed vote of thanks.

National Level Recognition for the Team “Challengers”

The team “Challengers”, comprising of Mohammad Anwar, Probid J., Gokul K. Nair, Sachin Kumar Nair, Fadil Luquman and Nived P., under the guidance of Prof. Abdul Kareem, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, won the Second prize for their design in the National Level Flying Event, 'AIRSTRIKE', organized by Indian institute of space and technology (IIST) as a part of “Conscientia”; A National Level Annual Technical and Astronomy Festival of IIST, offering various challenging events in different fields of engineering and science including Aerospace Engineering Electronics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics etc. The team also received a Boeing Certificate and cash prize of Rs. 5000/- for being the finalist in laws of motion and was also among the top five finalists in another event, “Embetronix”, held at IIT, Kharagapur.

Sahyadri Girls Volleyball Team Emerge the Champions

Sahyadri Girls Volleyball team has emerged as the Champions in VTU Rest of Bangalore Zone Volleyball Tournament held at Bahubali College of Engineering, Shravanabelagola. More than 22 colleges participated in the tournament. The team members were: Priyanka (Captain), Sushumitha M., Ashmitha Rodrigues, Tanya K .Shetty, Yashwitha, Nishmitha G .Kulal, Rakshitha B. Shetty, Vinutha B., Deepika, Isha Tyagi, Shruthi M .V., Vidya V. Bhat.

Sahyadrian wins the ‘Mr. Karnataka- 2014’ title

Mr. Jagadish Poojary, Gym Trainer, a Professional Body Builder, has bagged the ‘Mr. Karnataka - 2014’ title, in the 20th State Level Body Building Championship. He received the first prize and a Gold Medal in the event organized by United Sports Club, Malpe, Udupi in association with Association of Body Builders, Udupi District. He is also selected for the national level competition.

Sahyadrians win in Sambhram’14

The cultural team of the College comprising of twenty-five students of Engineering stream won the first place in the Variety Competition in Sambhrama14’, a State level intercollegiate Cultural fest held at Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Mangalore. Sahyadrians win in VTU Fest

The cultural team of the College comprising of thirty-seven students competed against 95 VTU affiliated colleges and stood 10th in the overall championship in ‘Davana-2014’, VTU Fest held at Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Davangere. TCS Off - Campus Recruitment Drive held in the Campus

TCS conducted an off-campus recruitment drive for 628 candidates from Engineering colleges of Dakshin Kannada and Udupi district. It consisted of online tests and the results are awaited.

Sahyadrian recruited in MResult Services Pvt. Ltd

Pooja Rai, Semester II, Department of Business Administration has been recruited as a Freelancer Transcription Analyst in MResult Services Pvt. Ltd., Mangalore. This company has opened new avenues for all MBA and Engineering Students of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management to work part-time in their organization. They give free soft-skills training and also pay for the two hours of work students contribute towards transcription.


Sahyadrian selected for Regional Level of National Design Competition

Mr. Fenil Mehta, Semester IV, Mechanical Engineering, has been selected for Regional Level of National Design Competition, organised by CADD Centre, Mangalore. Ten students were shortlisted in a preliminary round conducted in the college. Mr.Fenil Mehta topped the subsequent round conducted at the CADD centre, Mangalore and qualified for the regional round which will be held at Bangalore.

Winner of the Webpage Development Competition

Mr. Roshin Baby Varghese, Semester IV, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has won the First place in Webpage Development Competition, conducted as a part of ‘Tech Vision 2014’. It will be hosted as official webpage of ‘Tech Vision 2014’; Intra - College Project Competition.
