Chairman Launches TCS World 10K at Bengaluru

Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri Educational Institutions along with Minister for Sports, Mr. Abayachandra Jain, Kannada film star, Mr. Puneeth Rajkumar and other dignitaries gathered for the Launch of Registrations of the 5th edition of the TCS World 10K at Regency Room, ITC Windsor Manor, Bengaluru. The 5th edition of the TCS World 10K is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on Sunday, the 17th of May 2015.

Supported by the Govt. of Karnataka and ratified by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), the event will see the best track and field athletes take on the finest road runners from over 20 countries. Following in their footsteps, will be thousands of amateur runners, from across the country.

Director Dr. D.L. Prabhakara to present a technical paper in Germany

Dr. D.L. Prabhakara, Director, Sahyadri Educational Institutions will present a technical paper at Technical University, Braunschweig, Germany. The paper is authored by team comprising of Dr. D.L. Prabhakara, two professors of IIT, Mumbai and research student of Dr. D. L. Prabhakara at IIT, Mumbai. His visit is sponsored by Sahyadri. He will also visit few universities of European countries during his trip.

Dignitaries of Canara Bank Visit Sahyadri

Ms. Sujatha Karunakaran, Deputy General Manager and Mr. Vasanth Shetty, Divisional Manager, Canara Bank, Circle Office, Balmata, Mangalore visited the Campus. They met and interacted with Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman. On their walk around the Campus, they appreciated the infrastructure and discipline of the College.

TCS TechBytes: 6th Edition State Level Quiz Competition

The 6th Edition of “TCS TechBytes”, a state level quiz competition for B.E / B.Tech., and also the regional final round for the Mangaluru region was organized by the Board of IT Education Standards (BITES) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Bengaluru in the Sahyadri campus. Students of nineteen engineering colleges (130 teams) participated in the first round of the regional finals out of which six teams have been selected for the finals.

The First place was bagged by Mr. Hemanth G. and Minti Jyothish, of NITK, Surathkal, Mangaluru. The Second place went to Mr. Arpan Kumar Mishra and Mr. Nabil Silva of MIT, Manipal and Mr. R. Alok and Mr. Rahul Samani of NMAMIT, Nitte along with Mr. Rajath Rao K. and Mr. Manjunath Thantri of Srinivas Institiute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru bagged the Third place.

Dr. Suresh Ramaswamy Reddy, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru and Executive Director, BITES, Ms. Shobha, Coordinator, TCS TechBytes, TCS, Bengaluru, Mr. Lloyd Saldahna, Quiz Master, Grey Caps, Bengaluru, Mr. Bhavik A. Shah, Grey Caps, Bengaluru were the guests present on the occasion. Staff coordinators of the participating colleges were present. Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, Prof. Umashankar B. S., Dean Academics, Prof. Prabhakara B. K., Coordinator for Mangaluru Region and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, HoD's of various departments and faculty members of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management were also present.


ICONS HIT-2.0 and Share a Little

ICONS (Innovative Creative & Objective Network of Sahyadri), the Student Association of the Department of MCA organised HIT-2.0: Habits, Talents and Interests and a charity programme `Share a Little’ in the Campus. The Chief Guest Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal inaugurated the event. Students showcased their talent through various competitions like Rangoli, Mehandi, Flameless Cooking, Dance, Singing, Quiz, Carrom, and Chess. Sahyadrians generously contributed money in the Charity programme `Share a Little’, the proceeds of which will be shared with various charitable institutions. Students enthusiastically took part in all the events and prizes were distributed. The HoD and faculty members were present on the occasion. Fourteen MBA Students Placed At Centrum Direct Ltd.

Centrum Direct Ltd. conducted a pooled campus recruitment drive at St. Agnes College, Mangalore. A total of fifty MBA students of the College attended the pooled campus drive out of which twenty-two students were shortlisted for the final round of interview with Mr. Sudhakar V., Regional Manager - Human Resource, Centrum Direct Ltd.

It is a proud moment for the Department of Business Administration to announce the placement of fourteen MBA students in four Job Profiles namely: Corporate Sales, Key Account Manager, Branch – Customer Relations & Airport – Customer Relations at Centrum Direct Ltd.

Sahyadrians win in National Level Fest `TIARA 2015’

Sheethal P. N. and Tania Ronald Mendonca, Semester VIII, Section 'B', Computer Science & Engineering, have won the Second place for the paper titled “IRIS RECOGNITION” in the Technical Paper presentation competition “PAPYRUS” conducted by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru during “TIARA 2015,” the National Level Technical Fest.

Faculty Member Presents Paper in the 9th IEEE INDIACOM-2015 Conference

Prof. Shamanth Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering presented a paper titled "Scrutinizing Localized Topology Control in WSN using Rigid Graphs", in the 9th INDIACOM, 2nd International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development, held at Bharti Vidyapeet, New Delhi. Prof. Nathalie Mitton, professor at INRIA, France, was the chairperson of the track. The presented paper will be published in the IEEE proceedings.

Ethnus Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Campus Recruitment Drive

Ethnus Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. conducted a campus recruitment drive for engineering students from pool colleges. Sixteen students have been shortlisted for the interview round. The final results are awaited.

Akhyana-2015: The Communication Fest

`Akhyana -2015’; The Communication Fest organised by the Department of Training, commenced with the preliminary round of the Pick and Speak event. Forty engineering students from various batches participated in the event with enthusiasm and vigor. The Debate Competition saw forty-five students of various undergraduate engineering streams participating with passion on day-two of the week-long fest. At the end of the event, Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, HoD, Training, spoke on the importance of such events and gave tips to be considered for the final Debate Competition. Twenty students from various batches participated in the Turncoat competition. Twenty-five students of various batches took part in the Mad Ads Competition. The advertisements were well prepared and displayed creatively. On the fifth and final day of the preliminary rounds of the Communication Fest, a Picture Description Competition was held. Twenty-five students actively participated in the competition. All the shortlisted students in all the competitions will compete in the finals to be held on the 28th of March, 2015.

Participating students and teams were marked for Content, Appropriate Use of Language, Delivery and Overall Presentation. All the rounds were conducted to test the Communication skill of the participants in the English language.
