SHAPE IT Book release at Sahyadri SHAPE IT, the book authored by Dr. Subramani Ramakrishnan and Ms. Vaijayanthi Srinivasaraghavan with our students and alumni stories featured, was launched at our Campus, in the august presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. M. V Subramanian, Co-founder & MD, Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd. and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Sundaram Moorthy, Director, Yoke Engineering Outsourcing Pvt. Ltd., Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, and Director Dr. D. L. Prabhakara.

SHAPE IT Book release at Sahyadri On commencement of the program, the authors gave an overview of the book, during which they mentioned that it is very essential for an individual to know where and how to efficiently apply the concepts and emphasized the need of creating an entrepreneurship mindset in the future generation. They inspired the budding engineers to ignite their thoughts and thus creating an economy and making this world a better place to live. The authors were extremely happy about the quality of stories extracted from our campus and appreciated the good work. They extended a special thanks to Mr. Sujay Shetty, Designer, DTLabz for his creativity in designing the SHAPE IT logo.

SHAPE IT Book release at Sahyadri The book SHAPE IT, is basically a self-help book for budding engineers – filled with more than 50 inspiring stories of students who walked the extra mile and carved a niche for themselves, drawing up on their experience in nurturing fresh talent, and based on the interactions with industry experts and academicians, the authors made an attempt of refreshing take on 5 life-skills that would help students get ‘industry-ready’.

In addition to informing and inspiring readers, this book is filled with suggestions and ideas for action that encourages the readers to get going!

SHAPE IT Book release at Sahyadri The Chief Guest, Mr. M. V Subramanian in his inaugural address stated that to be competent enough one should learn and adapt skills to chase success. Chairman in his presidential address expressed his happiness for the release of the book and thanked the students in contributing to the success stories of the book SHAPE IT. He said it is a proud moment for Sahyadri as thirteen stories of the fifty featured in the book is contributed by the alumni and students associated with the institute.

Certificates were issued to the students whose success stories were featured in the book. Prof. S S Balakrishna proposed the vote of Thanks.

Sahyadrians qualified to top 8 at IIT- Roorkee

Sahyadrians qualified to top 8 at 
IIT- Roorkee A Team of our First year engineering students participated in the robotics event; Cyborg-Breakin and Robosepian held at IIT Roorkee and was qualified to top 8 among the 25 participating teams. In the event, Cyborg breakin the team had to build an autonomous bot and manual bot where one bot had to collect beans and another had to release beans in 3 zones, while Robosapien was an event, wherein the teams had to build bots which had to be a line follower and a wall follower. Our students were accompanied by Ms. Nisha, Assistant Professor from the department of Electronics & Communication engineering and Mr. Santhosh, Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd.

Sahyadrians one among the Top Eight in International Event at IIT – Kanpur

Sahyadrians one among the Top Eight in International Event at IIT – Kanpur Our students participated in the “Techkriti” event held at IIT Kanpur with active participation in two events namely Manoeuvre and IARC.

Manoeuvre was an event in which the participating team was required to build two manually controlled robots capable of picking blocks from one part of the arena and stacking them up in the other part of the arena. IARC was an international event that witnessed teams from Nepal and Bangladesh. Sahyadri Team had the pleasure of being one among the top eight in the International finals.

Sahyadrians won the” Best Technical Innovation Award” at NIT Jamshedpur

Sahyadrians won the” Best Technical Innovation Award” at NIT Jamshedpur A Team of our First year engineering students, Pro-Motors, accompanied by Mr. Gautham Nayak, Technical Trainer, DTlabz participated in a Three Day Technical fest, OJASS’17 held at National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. Our students took part in the events, Tachyon (Line follower) and Shape Shifter. Shape Shifter required the participants to build a robot which can traverse in different arenas, pick and place objects based on the problem statement. The team was successful in completing the task and thus won the “Best Technical Innovation Award” for their creative work of building the robot. It was the only robot which operated wirelessly amongst all the robots of other teams from various NIT’s and IIT’s.

World Water Day observed at Sahyadri Campus

World Water Day observed at Sahyadri Campus Department of Civil Engineering in association with District Legal Services Authority, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board observed the World Water Day at Sahyadri Campus. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Mallanagouda, Senior Civil Judge & Member Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Dakshina Kannada. Prof. M. S. Mohan Kumar, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. Sri. Mallanagouda in his address, stressed on the importance of conserving water for the future generation. He emphasized on meticulous usage of water on a day to day basis which is vital for the overall development of the society. Prof. M.S. Mohan Kumar, in his key note address stressed on the various treatment processes which is adopted by the IISC, Bangalore to treat the sewage water and reuse it for miscellaneous purposes. Sri. Rajshekar Puranik, Environmental Officer, KSPCB, Mangaluru, briefed about the significance of World Water Day. Prof Purushothama C T, HOD (UG), welcomed the gathering. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, presided over the function. Dr. S Manjappa, Director – Research and Consultancy, Mr. R. Srinivas, Senior Manager (Environment), MRPL, Mr. Rashid, Member of Food Scientists Association, Mangalore were present for the inaugural ceremony. Mr. Jayaprakash, Engineer, KSPCB rendered the vote of thanks.

The formal function was followed by the technical sessions to Civil Engineering students. Prof. M.S. Mohan Kumar, delivered a theme speech. Dr. S Manjappa, delivered a technical talk on “Water for Food Energy and Health.” The third session was followed by “Industrial Waste Water Treatment & its Reuse.” The students interacted with the resource persons during the respective sessions.

Info-BIZ Arete pooled campus recruitment drive Info-BIZ Arete visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2017 batch. Mr. Yunus Hasan, Business Development Executive, Info-BIZ Arete accompanied by panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process. Two candidates have been shortlisted to attend the final round of selection.

Good Methods Global pooled campus recruitment drive Good Methods Global visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2017 batch. Mr. Arjun Satheesh, Head of Operations, Good Methods Global, accompanied by panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process. Sixty five candidates from pool colleges were part of the recruitment process.

Alembic Pharmaceuticals pooled campus recruitment drive India Infoline visited Sahyadri to conduct campus recruitment drive for the 2017 batch of MBA students. Mr. Thilak Rao, Zonal HR Manager - South, India Infoline was at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process. Five students have been shortlisted for the final round of interview which will be held next week at the Company’s Bangalore Office.

Cactus Communications campus recruitment drive Cactus Communications Pvt. Ltd. conducted online test as part of their hiring activity for the engineering students of the 2017 batch. Results declaring the shortlisted candidates are awaited.

Federal Bank pooled campus recruitment drive

Federal Bank pooled campus recruitment drive Federal Bank visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for the post of Probationary Officers. Mr. Rajeev, HR Manager, Federal Bank and Mr. W Joky, VP-Operations, CIEL HR, were present at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process. Fifty candidates from pool colleges were part of the campus drive.

The process began with a pre-placement talk by Mr. Rajeev, followed by the aptitude test and group discussion. Three candidates have been shortlisted to attend the final round of interview to be held in the month of April, 2017.

Sports Achievement

Sports Achievement Sahyadri Girls Volleyball team has won, Rest of Bangalore Zone Volleyball tournament consecutively for the seventh time. The tournament was held at BLDEA's Bijapur on the 25th and 26th of March, 2017.

Two day workshop on “Construction Project Management” organized by the Civil Engineering Department Department of Civil Engineering in association with Civil Simplified, Bangalore has organized a Two day workshop on “Construction Project Management” for the students of Civil Engineering. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Vasanth Vidyakar, Engineer, Civil Simplified, Bangalore. Mr. Vidyakar was also one of the resource persons for the workshop. Dr. J. V. Gorbal, Dean Academics and Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, were also part of the inaugural function. Mr. Manohar K, Assistant Professor & SPACE coordinator welcomed the dignitaries and Prof. Purushothama C. T, HOD (U.G), rendered the vote of thanks.

Alembic Pharmaceuticals pooled campus recruitment drive Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited conducted a pooled campus recruitment drive at Sahyadri Campus for the MBA students. Mr. Chandrahas Shetty, Senior Vice President, Corporate HR, Mr. Viren Doshi, Manager –HR, Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited were present at the campus to facilitate the recruitment drive. 130 students from pool colleges were part of the drive. The drive began with a pre-placement talk by Mr. Viren followed by an aptitude test. Thirty-eight students have been shortlisted for the personal interview round.

Amazon India pooled campus recruitment drive Amazon India visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for the graduates from 2016 passed out batch, hiring for the position of Seller Support Associate & Transaction Risk Investigator. 127 candidates were part of the recruitment process, of which thirteen have been shortlisted by the company to attend the further rounds of selection.

Mr. Nayeem Shariff, Tech Mahindra accompanied by panelist on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire process. Seventy three students from pool colleges were part of the recruitment drive, of which twenty six have been shortlisted for final round of selection.

Amazon India pooled campus recruitment drive FableSquare visited Sahyadri to conduct campus recruitment drive for the 2017 batch of engineering students. Mr. Mayur Bhat from FableSquare was at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process. Eighty Three students from pool colleges were part of the recruitment drive. Results are awaited.

Civil Engineering Student clears GATE-2017

Mr. Jeethan Grinal Rodrigues of Semester Eight, from the department of Civil Engineering has cleared the GATE-2017 examination with a score of 33.62 / 100. He has been recruited by Advance Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. in the recently held pooled campus recruitment drive.
