Sahyadri recognized as Nodal Centre under Mission VTU
Empower 10000

VTU, Belgaum, has recognized Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management as a nodal center for the conduction of industry-specific training in Optical Fiber Communication Technology under Mission VTU Empower 10000 program. This program is designed for training the passed out students of E&C/TE background and getting them placed in industries. Passed out students of the college and other colleges can benefit from this program.

FLAMES Valedictory and Farewell

FLAMES the student association of the Department of Mechanical Engineering held its valedictory and farewell for the outgoing students of the department. The Chief Guest, Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, in his address gave some advice and appreciated their performance throughout the academic year. Dr. Mohandas Bhat, Dean-Academics, the Guest of Honor, wished all the outgoing students a bright future. Prof. S.S. Balakrishna, HOD, in his presidential address appreciated the students for their hard work in academics as well as extra-curricula activities. Mr. Rakshith Shetty, staff advisor gave a report of the activities of FLAMES for the year 2013-14.

‘CAMP’ Cricket Team Emerge the Champions

The team ‘CAMP’ comprising staff from Civil, Aptra, MBA and Physics departments has emerged as Champions in the ‘Sahyadri Cup 2014’ faculty cricket tournament, organized by the college. Mr. Ramesh K.G. was the Captain of the team which was the unbeatable team of the tournament.

The team Sahyadri Night Riders (Non teaching staff) was the runners-up. Mr. Ganesh, Establishment Officer, was the captain of the team. Mr. Shivaram, Security Officer was the highlight of the team.

Mr. Abhishek, Software Developer, Aptra, won the ‘Man of the Series’ award for his outstanding performance in all five matches of the tournament. He was the only one who was successful in ‘Wicket out’ when there was a super over against Mechanical Engineering. Five teams; Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sahyadri Night Riders and CAMP participated in the tournament.

All the winners were felicitated during the Valedictory function of ‘Sahyadri Cup 2014’. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, congratulated the prize winners. The same spirit and enthusiasm should continue and contribute to work, he added. Dr. Mohandas Bhat, Dean Academic, Prof. M. N. Nayak, Administrator, expressed their happiness and congratulated all the winners. Mrs. Shreelatha, A.A.O, and teaching and non teaching staff were present on the occasion. Mr. Rakshith Shetty and Mr. Shailesh, Coordinators, briefed and coordinated the event.

M.Tech student presents paper in IETE Conference

Jayapadmini Kanchan, M.Tech. Semester IV (Computer Science), presented a paper titled, "Cell Counting Based Security for Data Transmission using TOR ", under the guidance of Prof. B. S. Umashankar, PG coordinator, Department of Computer Science & Engineering in the seventh IETE Conference on RF & Wireless (ICon RFW-14) organized jointly by IETE-Bangalore Centre & HKBK College of Engineering, Bangalore. Faculty member attends National Technology Day organised by famous NASI

Mr. Duddela Sai Prashanth, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, was invited to participate in the National Technology Day held at University of Allahabad and to interact with the eminent technologists of the country. It was organized by the famous National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). Prof. Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharjee, Director, Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, was the Chief Guest. Various technical lectures, interactive and counseling sessions were held during the day.

11th May 1998 being the defining moment in the growth of technology prowess, was christened as National Technology Day by the then Prime Minister of India. Since then it is being celebrated every year as National Technology Day across the country by various scientific and industrial organizations and educational institutions.

Founded in the year 1930, the National Academy of Sciences, India, is the oldest Science Academy of the country and is located at Allahabad. The main objective of the Academy was to provide a national forum for the publication of research work carried out by Indian scientists and to provide opportunities for exchange of views among them.

Orientation Session on Placement Training by J.V. Global Team for Semester IV students

Mr. Vincent D’Souza, Mrs. Tejashree Narayan and Mr. Anijith of J. V. Global, Bangalore, conducted orientation classes for all branches of Semester IV students. They demonstrated a training session and explained the importance of training to get placed in a company.
