Sahyadrians win in Inter - College Project Exhibition

A project “Image Transparency and Computer Vision for Effective Content Delivery” conceptualized by Suraj Kamath G., Vinay Raghavan, P. Vibha Bhandary and Prajna J., under the guidance of Prof. Abdul Kareem, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, bagged the first prize in the Inter - College Project Exhibition “Techno Vision 2014” held at St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore. The project makes use of computer vision to improve delivery of digital contents by highlighting the content being presented. The low cost project consists of a camera connected to a laptop with the compatible software. The speaker delivering a talk can place his hand in front of the camera and have the impression of his hand overlap with the presentation. He can thus use his fingers to point out objects and other areas of interest on the screen. This project also enables a feature that allows the speaker to highlight specific areas just by using the tip of his finger. This prototype has multiple applications and can be used during live presentations, classrooms, online classes among others.
