Seventh Sense: Demonstration and Trials
As part of an ongoing project, Prof. B. N. Karkera undertook a demonstration of his invention BodyPhone at Sahyadri campus. Prof. Manoj Kumar M., HoD, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Prof. M. N. Nayak, Administrator, Mr. Shivram Rai, Security Officer, and a host of other faculty members participated in the trials-cum-demonstration.
The BodyPhone project is being undertaken in association with Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratories, MOD (Navy), Cochin. With this, the project is now poised for achieving the first milestone and ready for review by officials of NPOL at Cochin, around mid June.

Faculty members felicitated by Infosys
Mrs. Mehanaz Begum and Mrs. Sadhana Shetty, Assistant Professors, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, have been recognized as the `Silver Partner Faculty’ under Inspire – The Campus Connect Faculty Partnership Model by the Campus Connect team, Education & Research, Infosys Limited, Mangalore. They were felicitated during the Inspire Excellence award event at the Infosys office in Mangalore.
During the Inspire Excellence award event, they also had an event called Content Guru where the participating faculty members had to submit any artifacts which they had created and deployed in order to enhance the course delivery and student learning effectiveness for all the Campus Connect Partnered colleges who had been selected by the Infosys jury. Mrs. Mehanaz Begum, and Mrs. Sadhana, Assistant Professors, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Ms. Prathibha Bhat S, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering actively participated in the event. Mrs. Mehanaz Begum won the runner-up award in Content Guru of Inspire Faculty Excellence Awards - 2014.

Sahyadri PU College Toppers in CET for Engineering
Swathi Dilip Nayak, continuing her brilliant performance in the recently held II PU annual examinations, has excelled in the Karnataka State CET 2014 for Engineering. She is the CET topper of Sahyadri PU College and has secured the 2390th rank for Engineering.

Sahyadri facilitates Bank Promotion Examinations
Corporation Bank and Vijaya Bank Promotion Examinations were conducted in the Sahyadri labs. 154 employees of Corporation Bank and 10 Employees of Vijaya Bank appeared for the exams.

Opportunities Galore through DSIR
Mr. M. Prabhu, Additional Director (MSME), Department of Industries and Commerce and ER. Rajasekharaiah K. H., Deputy Director, District Industry Centre (DIC), Mangalore, visited Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and appreciated the efforts of the Management in taking education to a different platform with focus on projects and research. The different schemes that are available through the Department of Scientific Industrial Research like PRISM – Promoting Innovation In Individuals, Start – ups and MSMEs, which encourages development of prototypes/ models and fabrication of working model/ process/ know-how were shared. Principal invited as resource person
Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, was invited as a resource person by Vishvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, to deliver a lecture in the Faculty Development Programme `Quality Enhancement in Teaching & Research Methodology to Bridge the Gap between Academics & Industry.’ He addressed the topic `Professionalism in Teaching.’ The FDP was sponsored by VTU & VGST and organized by VTU, Belgaum, in association with Government of Karnataka and Vision Group of Science and Technology.

A research paper entitled ‘Cause related marketing in creation of trust on organic cosmetics - An empirical investigation’, authored by Dr. Ananthapadhmanabha Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration and Mr. Suhan Mendon Associate Professor, School of Management, Manipal, has been published in International Journal of Conceptions on Management and Social Sciences Vol. 2, Issue. 2, May 2014; ISSN: 2357 – 2787.

Faculty Member Presents Research Paper
Prof. Umesh S.S., HOD in-charge & Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, presented a research paper entitled `Experimental Investigation on Micro – Truss as Reinforcement in Slab System’, in the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering at ICETE - 2014 held at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte. The Conference was mainly sponsored by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) II.

Online Assessment Test by Oracle for MBA Students
An Online Assessment Test by Oracle was held for Semester IV MBA students as a part of their recruitment process. Twenty-seven students from Finance & Banking specialization attended the test held in the Campus. The shortlisted candidates will have to face personal interviews. The results of the Online Assessment Test are awaited. |
