National Technology Day 2015 Held in the Campus
National Technology Day 2015 was organized at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management by the Institution of Engineers, Mangaluru Local Centre, Institution of Valuers Mangaluru Branch and Kodagu, DK and Udupi Engineers Association. Mr. Ramesh Bhat N., General Manager, MCF Limited, Mangaluru was the chief guest who spoke about "Technologies in Fertilizer Industries". Dr. S. Shrihari, former Chairman, IEI, Mangaluru Local Center, Mr. Mukundraj Pai, Manager IEI, Mangaluru Center Dr. A. V. Hegde, Professor, Department of Applied Mechanics, NITK, Dr. Sunil B. M., Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, NITK, Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, Prof. Umashankar, Dean Academics, and faculty members of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management attended this program.

Mr. Umesh M. V. of SPAN InfoTech (India) Addresses Pre-Final Year Students
 Mr. Umesh M. V., Director-Human Resource, SPAN InfoTech (India) Pvt. Ltd., visited the Campus. In an interactive session, he addressed the pre-final year students on `The Things We Don’t Get from Classroom Teaching and the IT Industry.’ He spoke to the students about thinking outside the box, planning, time management, team work, assertiveness and the questioning ability. He also discussed about the IT and manufacturing industry. He covered various concepts like ITES, BPO, KPO, etc.

Accenture Campus Recruitment Drive
 
Mr. Gurudath Shenoy, Instructional Design – Lead, Accenture Learning, Content Development Center, Bangalore, visited the Campus for a recruitment drive for MBA and Engineering students. Forty-six students from the MBA and Engineering stream participated in the drive. The session began with the pre-placement talk by Mr. Gurudath Shenoy followed by a written test. The shortlisted candidates will have to attend another round of interview.

Flames Valedictory and Farewell for Outgoing Students
  The Valedictory function of FLAMES (Fulfilling Aspirations of Mechanical Engineering Students); the student association of the Department of Mechanical Association and a farewell for the outgoing students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was held in the Campus.
Dr. Antony A. J., Vice-Principal the Guest of Honor, wished all the outgoing students a bright future. Prof. S. S. Balakrishna, Head of the Department in his presidential address, appreciated the students for their hard work in academics as well as extra-curricular activities.
On this occasion outgoing students shared their experience of their years spent in Sahyadri. The achievers in academics and extra-curricular activities were felicitated. Ms. Ramya, Student Co-ordinator gave a report of the activities of FLAMES for the year 2014-15. After the formal function a cultural program with games entertained the gathering.

A research paper titled "An Improved Dynamic Latch Based Comparator for 8-bit Asynchronous SAR ADC" by Prof. Anush Bekal et.al, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Research Scholar at Indian Institute of information Technology (IIIT-A) is accepted for publication in one of the reputed IEEE Computer Society Annual Symposium on VLSI happening from July 8th -10th at Montpellier, France.

MBA Students Bid Adieu
Second year MBA students were bid adieu by the first year MBA students. Ms. Piyusha Shah, Human Resource Executive, Portea Medical, Bangalore, was the Chief Guest for the farewell function. Congratulating the outgoing batch of students, she wished them good luck in the future. Principal Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi gave useful hints to the outgoing batch and spoke about their belongingness to the institution. Director of Business Administration, Dr. A. P. Achar, also gave an inspirational talk for the outgoing students.
The best outgoing students were awarded during the function. Prajna was awarded for Best Outgoing Student in Academics, Abilash for Best Outgoing Student in Sports, Prakyath Bhandary for Best Outgoing Student Organiser, Sudhir KM for Best Outgoing Student Etiquette, Nikil Noronha, Sachin Shetty and Sannith Shetty for Best Outgoing Students in Extra-Curricular Activities and Ronson Sunil Menezes for Overall Best Outgoing Student.

Staff Member with an Indomitable Spirit
Mr. Jagadish Poojary, staff member and trainer at Sahyadri multi-gymnasium has many awards to his credit. He is the reigning Body Building Champion having won the Mr. Karnataka 2014 Body Building Championship and recently the Mr. Dakshina Kannada-2015 award at Bajpe conferred on him by the Mangalore Body Building Association. His indomitable spirit cannot be curbed and whether in his professional or personal life, he goes about his work with an undaunted spirit. Last year, he was conferred the Swabhiman Award 2014 by Daijiworld on their fifth anniversary celebrations at Town Hall, Mangalore. The award was conferred on him by the former Lokayukta Justice, Santosh Hegde. He was one among the seven from different walks of life who received the award for special achievement in society against all odds.
