Chairman at Eighth Edition of World 10K TCS Run in Bengaluru

Our Chairman, Dr. Manjunath Bhandary participated in the eighth edition of the World 10K TCS Run held at Bengaluru. He has been a part of this event since TCS organized the very first run in 2008. He had the honor of presenting the medals to the winners accompanied by film star and 10K brand ambassador Mr. Punith Rajkumar and TCS’ Vice Presidents, Mr. Satishchandra and Mr. Nagaraj Ijari.



At the event, he met Olympian Ms. Marie-José Pérec, French track and field sprinter who is specialized in 200 and 400 meters and is a three-time Olympic gold medalist. Marie-José Pérec was the International Event Ambassador for this event.




MBA Faculty members participate in AICTE sponsored Short Term Course on HR Analytics - Hands on Training in IIT, Kharagpur

Dr. Vishal Samartha, Professor, Mr. Karthik Kudroli, Asst. Professor and Mrs. Sushma V, Asst. Professor from the Department of Business Administration, participated in a Seven day AICTE sponsored, short term course on HR Analytics – Hands-on Training in IIT, Kharagpur from the 10th of May to the 16th of May, 2015. The program had a total of fifteen participants from all over India. Emphasis was primarily on providing hands-on experience in HR Analytics which is the need of the hour. Dynamic training was imparted to enhance the mentoring capabilities of the faculty members and contribute to the employability potentials of the MBA students. Real-Time data of corporate organizations were utilized by the resource persons to analyze/interpret the results and provide prescriptive suggestions in diverse challenging situations. Almost all spheres of HR domain namely Performance Management, Recruitment & Selection, Talent Management, Workforce Planning etc., were covered to offer preventive solutions to the emerging challenges in a corporate environment. The faculty members, who represented Sahyadri institution outshined the rest of the participants by securing 1st place in the Change Management Case Study, Comparative review of a Work Life Balance Questionnaire and Assignment on solving a case using “R” software. This training has laid a foundation to convey the learning to the forthcoming MBA batches.

Students of Sahyadri II P. U. College have surpassed expectations and have done extremely well in the recently held examinations scoring an overall pass percentage of 95.50%. Out of eighty-nine students who took the examination, eight students obtained a first class with distinction, seventy-one students obtained a first class, five students obtained a second class and one student a third class bringing the overall percentage score to 95.50%.

Harshitha with 92.67% topped the list of toppers in the II P. U. College results followed by Pavan Bangera with 91.67%, Prajwal Narayana with 91.17%, Vaishnavi with 90.67%, Ramiza Fathima scored 88.67%, Razila P. 87.33%, Pooja with 86% and Deepa with 85% bringing the overall percentage score to 95.50%.

SAE BAJA And SAE Aero Design Team Interact With Principal And Faculty Members

SAE team of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management held an interactive talk with college management briefing about the plan for the coming academic year. The chairperson of SAE team Jerin David Varghese, gave a presidential speech. He enumerated the various activities of SAE BAJA 2015 and highlighted the benefits and areas of improvement. The Vice Chairperson, Mr. Anwar, spoke about the events which the SAE team wants to conduct for the coming academic year. He proposed the two main events: one is South India SUV motosport race and the other is the South India Aero design competition. The Heads of the departments and faculty members gave their suggestions. Dr. U.M. Bhushi, Principal, appreciated the plan and work of SAE team and assured the support from the college.

Outgoing Students of Civil Engineering Bid Adieu

The Valedictory function of SPACE (Sahyadri Pupil Association of Civil Engineering); the student association of the Department of Civil Engineering, and farewell for the outgoing students of the civil engineering department was held in the Campus.

Prof. Umesh S. S., Head of the Department and the Guest of Honor of the function, addressed the outgoing students about life after graduation and wished them well for the future. Prof. Purushotham C.T., Department of Civil Engineering, gave an analogy about civil engineering and on how an engineer analyzes and designs the structures. He also spoke about work ethics to the students.

Ms. Rashmishree K. N., Student Co-ordinator gave a report of the activities of SPACE for the year 2014-15. The achievers in academic, sports and cultural were felicitated with achievement awards and a group of eleven students were specially awarded for their excellent involvement in the various departmental events.

The students shared their memorable experience of their four years spent in Sahyadri, the Survey Camp they attended, about the class and the fun moments that they shared with each other.

CLOUDS Valedictory and Farewell for Outgoing Students

The Valedictory function of the activities of CLOUDS (Computer Legends of the Unified Department @ Sahyadri) - an association of the students of Computer Science and Engineering, and a farewell for the outgoing students was conducted in the campus.

Prof. Umashankar B.S., Dean Academics was the Guest of Honor. He emphasized that today’s world is very competitive. He cited the example of the recent SSLC results where every student tries to outshine the other.

Annual Report of the club activities was presented by Gautham J Shetty. Awards were distributed to the toppers in the odd semester. The outgoing students shared their experience at Sahyadri. Cultural events were also organized.

AEnCES Valedictory and Farewell for Outgoing Students

AEnCES (Association of Electronics and Communication Engineering Students), student association of Electronics and Communication engineering organized a farewell for outgoing students in the campus.

The Programme was inaugurated by the Head of the Department, Prof Manoj Kumar and Assistant Professor, Mr. Kiran Kumar. Mr. Sushan, President of the council, Mr. Ashok, Vice president, and Mr. Akash, Secretary were also present on the dais. Guest of honor, Prof Manoj Kumar addressed the final year students and wished them success ahead.

Students of the E&C department who made remarkable achievement in various fields like sports, culture, academics, and projects were felicitated. The outgoing students shared their experiences at Sahyadri. Cultural program was also organized on the occasion.

Mr. Ramesh K. G., Mr. Abhay Kumar, and Ms. Ankitha Shetty, faculty members of the Department of Business Administration attended the Manel Srinivas Nayak Knowledge Series organized by MSNM Institute of PG Studies, Mangalore. Sri. G. Padmanabhan, Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India, delivered a talk on “Is India Ready for Full Capital Account Convertibility?”

Capital Account Convertibility means freedom to convert local financial assets into foreign assets at market-determined exchange rates which leads to free exchange of currency at lower rates and an unrestricted mobility of capital. This is beneficial for a country because inflow of foreign investment increases and the flip side though, is that it could destabilise an economy due to massive capital flows in and out of the country.

Interaction with Kanara Small Industries Association

A team comprising of Mr. M.J.Shetty, President, Mr. Gaurav Hegde, Secretary, Kanara Small Industries Association, Mr. Mahesh Bondal, Managing partner, KONSPEC and Mr. B.A.Nazeer, President, Canplast Industries, Mangalore visited the campus to interact with the Director and faculty members of the Department of Business Administration, regarding the proposed set up of Baikampady Industrial Township Authority. The team discussed about the possibility of association to conduct a detailed study regarding the small scale industries under KSIA banner. The team also had an interaction with Dr. U.M. Bhushi, Principal and expressed their interest to sign a MOU with the Institution.

A Session on “Interact and Enact with ACT”

The Department of Business Administration organized a session titled “Interact and Enact with ACT” by the experts and members of Animal Care Trust, Mangalore. To become a successful manager, one needs to be a good human being. The objective of the session is to bring management students close to their society and realize the need for nurturing, admiring nature and animals. One of the active volunteers of the Trust Mr. Tauseef Ahmed interacted with the students, shared his experiences of various animal rescue operations conducted by their team in and around Mangalore. He also inspired the students to be responsible citizens and try their level best to prevent animal abuse, abandons and bring it to the notice of the Trust in case such incidents are seen.

Mr. Charles, Trustee, Animal Care Trust addressed the students on the topic of handling snakes. He explained the various types of snakes, its variants in terms of venomous and non-venomous snakes, the first aid required, the myths about snakes etc. The session was informative and useful for the students

Global Automation Recruitment Drive

Global Automation Inc. conducted an online test as part of their recruitment process in the Campus. BE, MBA, MCA and M.Tech. students of 2015 batch from pool colleges participated in this drive. The results are awaited.

Global Automation Inc. provides large-scale distributed systems to both established and emerging companies. It was founded in 1992 with offices in the United States at Mountain View, California, and in India at Bangalore. In the year 2000, it purchased the software engineering firm Integra TechSoft.

MCF Ltd. Online Test

MCF Ltd., Mangalore, conducted an online test for Diploma holders and M.Sc. candidates in the Campus. Fifty candidates participated in this test.
