A Host of Dignitaries Visit Sahyadri

Sri Ramachandra, IFS, Secretary Ecology, Environment and Forest, Sri H K Anand, Scientific Officer Ecology, Environment and Forest, Government of Karnataka, Dr. I M Hussain Rtd, Scientist, Indian Bureau and Mines (IBM), member SCAC Govt. of Karnataka, Sri Puranik, Environmental Officer and Sri J Nayak and SEO KSPCB Mangalore visited Sahyadri. They expressed their happiness to see the infrastructure and facilities provided in the College. They praised the growth of the institution, specifically complimented the SAE Aero Design team, start-ups of Sahyadri and Hands-on Experience Laboratory. Sri Ramachandra assured he would address the faculty in times to follow. Also he complimented the sincere effort of the management and said that the current growth and operational structure is towards an IIT culture.

Mr. Prabhakar Shetty, Mentor, Allcargo Logistics visited the campus and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and the core members of the research team.

He appreciated the management in providing the best ambience for learning and also the student initiatives of startup companies. He has given invaluable inputs to improve student employability and has explored the possibility of providing internship and placement offers to our students.

Mr. Shravan Shetty, who accompanied him during the visit, was a part of the interaction with the core research team. He has a Masters in Astrophysics from University of Liverpool, UK. He has submitted his Ph.D. papers at Oxford University and will be conferred a degree shortly. He has further plans to be a part of the research core group at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has assured the DTLabz members to mentor them for higher studies and also help the institution improve its connectivity with research groups across the globe.

Mr. Poornesh Kumar H G, Syndicate member, Kuvempu University and his team visited Sahyadri campus and interacted with Dr. C. K. Manjunath, Administrator.

They went around the institution and appreciated the vision of real education and were in awe of the Hands-on Experience lab and the student startup ventures at Sahyadri. They expressed their happiness to see the infrastructure and facilities provided in the campus.

Dr. K. S. Pujari Professor and Academic coordinator and Mr. Vinod S Aralikatti, Training and Placement Officer, Vishwanatha Rao Rural Institute of Technology (VDRIT), Haliyal Dist, Uttar Kannada, visited the institution to study the development in the institution in a short span of time. They praised the growth of the institution and the infrastructure and facilities provided in the College.

Student of Final year Engineering Selected for Internship at CENSE Lab, IISC

Mr. Rakhesh Permudanayya, final year engineering student, Department of Electronics and Communication, who completed his internship at DTlabz, is selected for internship in wireless data acquisition from MEMS based absolute pressure transducer for aerospace application for 3 months, in CENSE lab, IISC under the guidance of Prof. Manjunath M Naik, visiting professor, CENSE Lab, IISC.

Prof. Manjunath Naik, has served in various fields in ISRO for more than 39 years. His research areas are space qualified sensors for pressure, level, depletion, acoustic and temperature measurement and MEMS sensors development. Campus Recruitment Drives

Mr. Adhavan Xavier, Manager - Talent Acquisition, Teamware Solutions, was at the campus to facilitate a pooled campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of the 2016 batch at the campus. Thirty-one students have been shortlisted by the company to attend further rounds of selection.


KRISAM Automation conducted the campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2016 batch at our campus. Sixty students have been shortlisted by the company to attend further rounds of selection.




Twenty-three students have been shortlisted by OBO Bettermann India who conducted the campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2016 batch at our campus. Students will have to attend a further selection process.


Cape Electric conducted the campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2016 batch at our campus. Nine students have been shortlisted by the company to attend the further rounds of selection.


Mahesh P U College conducted the pool campus recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2016 batch at our campus. Dr. Ajith D'Souza, Principal, Mahesh P U College, accompanied by the panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire process.

Two-day Workshop for MBA Students on `How to Choose a Specialization’

To help students choose the right specialization, Department of Business Administration at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organized a two-day workshop on ‘How to choose a specialization: An interactive session with Industry Experts’ for second Semester MBA Students.

Mr. Dennis of Bharath Auto Cars Pvt Ltd spoke about the importance of being in the right profession to the budding managers. He addressed the aspiring managers to be dynamic enough to choose the marketing profession and come up with the right choice. He explained how he shaped his personality through marketing and how he was successful in the career. He stressed on the importance of hard work and honesty. He said one can be happy only if they follow their dreams and passion. Being in the marketing field has lots of opportunities but becoming successful depends on how you grab the opportunity he advised students. He also said that there is a lot of potential in rural marketing than urban markets and he gave the example of Maruthi, wherein they get 60% of their return from rural markets.

Mr. Raviraj Nayak of ICICI Prudential spoke about how marketing is challenging and rewarding at the same time. He stressed on the importance of sales in every organisation and he created an atmosphere where each and every student understood the importance very well. He brought out his experience with examples and made the session very interesting for the students.

The key to success in life of a marketer is by understanding people and to have a confident approach in life. The main qualities required for a marketer is to be confident, honest, have high integrity, high intelligence (i.e., common sense), communication skills, high energy and networking skills.

Students and faculty attend `Happiness Conclave’

Mr. Ramesh K G and Mr Girish M, Assistant Professors, Department of Business Administration, along with eight students attended the 'Happiness Conclave' organised by HR Katha at Taj Vivantha, Bangalore. The main theme of the conference was `Connecting Happiness to Business Strategy’.

The conclave had five technical sessions and three case studies on various HR practices to keep the employees engaged with the organisation. Some of the key speakers of the conclave were Mr. Raj Raghavan, Director, Country HR Leader, Amazon-India, Mr. Jayesh Pandey, MD, Accenture, Mr. Balachadar, Director, Cafe Coffee Day, Mr. Emmanuel David, Director, TATA Management Training Centre, Mr. Ravishankar B, CHRO, HCL Talent Care and Ms. Shalini Pillay, Head, People, Performance & Culture, KPMG.

The students had the opportunity to work as volunteers during the conclave and were responsible for registration of the participants and handling the key speakers of the event. The organisers appreciated the efforts of the students for their role in organising the event and have promised to offer jobs to these students.

Students Present Paper at National Conference

Ms. Amrutha P, Ms. Shreelakshmi, Ms. Shilpa K Rao ,Ms.Theertha, students of Department of Information Science and Engineering, presented a paper titled "Efficient Audio Signal Processing for Musical Instrument Applications" in the National Conference on `Recent Advances in Information and Communication Engineering’ held at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology, Chikkamagaluru. Students were guided by Mr. Janardhana D R, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering and Mr. Manjunath Mulimani, Research Scholar, NITK Surathkal. This paper was awarded as the best paper in the conference.

Research Collaboration with University of Houston, USA

Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor and Mr. Mohammad Anwar, semester VIII, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering would be working along with Professor Hong Lin, University of Houston, USA on a Research project entitled "Camera Surveillance System to detect unattended babies in a vehicle". The objective of this research project is to detect an infant in a vehicle and perform infant cry detection in adverse environments using machine learning approaches. Read more...

Mechanical Engineering students on an Industrial visit

The students of final year Mechanical Engineering visited Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), accompanied by faculty member Hanumnathraya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering. During the visit the students interacted with the engineers of UPCL and visualized the various processes involved in power generation. They also realised the importance of power generation and the challenges faced by the power industry. Students explored the possible internship opportunities in the field of power generation.

Administrator as Chief Guest for College Day at College of Fisheries

Dr. C. K. Manjunath, Prof. of Humanities & Administrator was invited as the chief guest for the College Day- 2016 of the College of Fisheries, Mangalore. He gave a talk on the dreams of the late Dr. APJ Kalam on the Professional Development of a Student (Vision 2020).

Prof. Lokesh, Assistant Professor SG, Department of Business Administration was the moderator for one of the sessions in the two-day National Conference organised by the Department of Commerce and Management, Mangalore University, Konaje.
