Sahyadri celebrates the Ninth Graduation Day for the engineering students
The Ninth Graduation Day for the students of M.Tech and Bachelor of Engineering (2018-19) was held in the Campus. 700 students of B.E. and 21 M.Tech students took an oath and received their graduation certificates from the esteemed guest - Mr. Binoy K, Campus Manager – Wipro, the Chief Guest for the ceremony.
Mr. Binoy K. has varied experience in Volume Hiring/Leadership Hiring and Technical Hiring. He is currently working with Wipro as a Regional Campus Head – Engineering for Karnataka Region. He has completed graduation in Arts with a PG in Personal Management. Mr. Binoy comes with a total of 18 years of experience in Talent Acquisition. He also enjoys connecting with people from different regions.
Dr. D.L. Prabhakara - Director, Dr. R. Srinivasa Rao Kunte – Principal, Prof. S.S. Balakrishna and also other eminent dignitaries from academia were present. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman presided over the ceremony.
The chief guest declared the Graduation Day open and distributed the Graduation certificates to the students. Prof. Sudhir Shetty, Dean – Examinations lead the graduates in the oath taking ceremony
Parents and relatives of students were also present to support their children/ward on this momentous occasion. It is a moment of pride for the parents who look on with satisfaction as an academic degree is conferred on their child.
Dr D.L. Prabhakara – Director extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries on the dais florally and formally welcomed the entire gathering off the dias. Mr. Manjuath Bhandary delivered the keynote address and introduced the day’s guest.
In his address, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary said that this batch has helped set a benchmark for this college as such. He also made a proud mention of the VTU toppers/gold medalists/rank holders who had brought laurels to this college. While giving the placement picture, he mentioned that this academic year the college has made record placements. The college has given the best of the best to its students he said, and further went on to say that substantial infrastructure coupled with creative and dedicated faculty and their relentless hard work is what has made this possible. As such, today, Sahyadri stands as one of the crème-da-la-crème institutions in Karnataka.
Finally, Mr. Bhandary stressed on discipline above all. He advised the students placed in various companies to maintain discipline and show the same sincerity so that the companies consider Sahyadri for more placements. Further, he advised the alumni to connect and share their experiences and thereby maintain a good relationship with the juniors and the faculty. The students who are placed are the brand ambassadors of companies for Sahyadri, he concluded.
Mr. Binoy K., in his speech advised the students to be a good child to their parents, a good pupil to their teachers and finally be good citizens, thus bringing laurels not only to their college but also to the society and to the world in a broader sense. He was truly impressed and said that the energy that emanates is electrifying. The ambience is energizing. He spoke about the importance of people who blessed them with knowledge – teachers and also spoke about the importance of parents.
Finally, Mr. Binoy said that there are many people who will walk into their lives, will touch and influence and then move on thus making way for more people to walk in and influence their lives.
“You are now standing on the shore of life and looking at the vast sea ahead which is your future. Also, every day of your life there will be an empty note book. It is up to you to fill it. So fill it up as much as possible, because you have the liberty”, were his concluding words.
A couple of students shared their experience at Sahyadri and described their feelings over their passing from the institution. They are thankful to the faculty and the chairman who made them what they are today - “Graduates” all set to step out of the comfort zone and face new challenges.

ISE Students win SECOND Place in ‘Paper Presentation’ at Jnanasangama -2019
Ms. Ashmitha Alva, Ms. Gulfam, Ms. Meghana, Ms. Pavithra J P from Final year Dept. of Information Science and Engineering, under the guidance of Prof. Madhura N Hegde presented a Paper titled “Offline Signature Verification System using Machine Learning Technique” at the JNANASANGAMA-2019 and won SECOND prize.
Dr. Sunil Kaul Founder & Managing Trustee of ‘The Ant’, Assam visits Sahyadri
Dr. Sunil Kaul founder of the prestigious charitable organization ‘The Ant’ and Ms. Jennifer Liang visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary.
Mr. Bhandary and Dr. Kaul were a part of the prestigious Eisenhower fellowship programme of the United States during the year 2004 which was headed by the former President of the United States George H W Bush.
Dr. Kaul and Ms. Liang explored the Sahyadri campus and were amazed with the learning environment created at the institute facilitating theoretical and practical exposures with the support of in-house startups and industries.
Story Telling: Marketing, a Career Choice by Deeksha Samartha, Client Relationship Manager, Design Café Bengaluru
“Story Telling is the New Marketing Mantra” and sessions like these create huge impact on the young minds and tickle their brains to think on the horizons that can be explored. Ms. Deeksha Samartha, Client Relationship Manager, Design Café Bengaluru, the daughter of Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA was at Sahyadri to address the 1st year MBA students.
Deeksha is an MBA in Marketing from Christ University Bengaluru. She started her career in Links Insurance Broker LLC, Dubai, UAE and then returned to India for better prospects as Relationship Manager at India Infoline Finance Ltd, Bengaluru. She now works at Design Café, an interior designing start-up firm.

Sahyadri NSS Unit Concludes its Seven-Day Special Camp at Kumpala
Sahyadri College NSS Unit successfully concludes its Seven-Day NSS Special Camp at Dakshina Kannada District Zilla Panchayat Government Higher Primary and High School, Kumpala. The major project of renovating the school by painting was completed as per the schedule and the students with their untiring & selfless service gave a new look to the institute. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal; Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal; Trustee of Bhandary Foundation Mr. Devdas Hegde were the Guests for Valedictory Ceremony along with Mr. Narayana Kampala, Founding President, Kesari Mithra Vrinda; Mr. Ramesh, President, PTA Association; Mr. Yadav, Member, School Development committee; Mr. Shiva Prasad, Paint Work Contractor and Ms. Nagaveni, Headmistress of DK District Zilla Panchayat Government Higher Primary and High School. The community and the school authorities appreciated the efforts of the students and congratulated on the success of the School Painting Project.
The Valedictory programme was followed by the NSS tradition of Shibira Jyothi after which the local school students gave a wonderful cultural programme. On the next day, the NSS volunteers went on an Educational Visit to the Pilikula Planetarium and Science Centre, thus concluding the Seven-Day NSS Special Camp. Ms. Shreelatha U A, NSS Programme Coordinator; Mr. Navin Pilar, Head of Dept. of Art and Culture and Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor organized and coordinated the Camp.

Chairman meets the Spanish Tennis Legend Arantxa Sanchez Vicario at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru
Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and his spouse Ms. Prasanna Bhandary were at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru and met the Spanish Tennis Legend Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, who accumulated 14 Grand Slam titles and also won French Open at the age of 17 against Steffi Graf.
TCS World 10K Bengaluru is an annual 10 kilometres road running competition which takes place in Bengaluru. The competition was first held in 2008 and the event is organized by Procam International, a sport and leisure management firm which is also responsible for the Mumbai Marathon and Delhi Half Marathon.

Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary inaugurated the CET/COMEDK pre-counselling workshop organized by Prajavani and Deccan Herald Publishing House at Canara First Grade College, Mangaluru. Chairman in his address enlightened students about the importance of selecting a right course, college for getting the required skill sets and the students should be convinced with their decision as this decision helps them to build their career. He briefed the students about how professional courses will help them to develop the creative mindset which is required to be successful in today's competitive world.
Mr. Bhandary’s contribution to the field of education was appreciated by the organizers stating that he has created platform to nurture the creative minds and be innovative, through various flagship schemes launched by Sahyadri Institution
UNI GAUGE E 2019 AND COMEDK UGET Online Exam in Sahyadri Campus
UNI GAUGE E 2019 and COMED-K Online Exams were conducted in College computer labs. Around 150 students appeared for the test. COMEDK UGET is a state-level exam conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) for admission to undergraduate engineering courses at around 190 engineering colleges in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation, in their endeavor to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK). COMEDK has been assigned the task of organizing a common entrance test for the academic year 2019-2020. COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window system).
Campus Recruited Drive- Blackfrog Technologies Pvt. Ltd
Blackfrog Technologies Pvt. Ltd conducted a pool campus recruitment drive for the students of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering, of 2019 outgoing batch. Mr. Mayur U Shetty - C.E.O & Product Architect, accompanied by Mr. Donson D Souza - Operations, were at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 76 students participated in the drive and the results are awaited.

Officials from Prajavani visit the Campus
Mr. Prakash Kugve, Bureau Chief and Mr. Mahesh Kanneshwar, Reporter and Sub-editor, Prajavani, Mangaluru visited the campus and interacted with the Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. Both the dignitaries carry a decade plus experience and association with Prajavani.
Mr. Kugve and Mr. Kanneshwar were spell bound with the learning process created within the campus and specially appreciated the initiatives of having startups and industries within campus providing hands on experience to the students which is the need of the hour today.
