ELEVATE 2019 at Sahyadri
Elevate 2019 is a Technical Fest for innovative start-ups. This event was initiated with a purpose of encouraging more number of start-ups of social impact. At Sahyadri, Elevate 2019 began with a session to MBAs from Mr. Uday Birji, the Jury Member of the programme. He spoke about the importance of technology and start-up in the present business scenario. He also threw light on how the world is moving towards AI & Machine Learning.
A total of 27 teams took part in Elevate 2019 from the major 4 districts Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga, and Chikmangalur. Out of the total teams, 10 Start-ups were from Sahyadri who participated in the pitching.
In 2017, Elevate was launched with 101 winners with the recommendation of Idea2POC, out of which 87 teams got grants and rest got non-grant support.
In Elevate 2017 - Call 2 was based on AVGC, Agriculture, Tourism and Kannada & Culture. Out of 368 teams, 57 teams got selected in which 43 start-ups got funding.
Elevate 2018 the Idea2PoC Evaluation Committee recommended 77 Start-ups for grant from 598 applications.
Sahyadri organizes Pot Compost Demonstration for teaching and non-teaching faculty
Sahyadri in association with Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru organized a One-Day Pot Compost demonstration for the Teaching and Non-teaching faculty. Mr. Sachin Shetty, Chief Coordinator, Ramakrishna Mission, Swacchatha Sampark Abhiyan and Mr. Umanath Kotekar, Chief Coordinator, Ramakrishna Mission, Swaccha Mangaluru Abhiyan along with the volunteers Mr. Nithesh, Mr. Balakrishna Nayak and Mr. Prasanth Uppinangady demonstrated the method of using Pot compost for solid waste management. The programme was organized with an objective to provide basic idea about the process of pot composting house hold waste. Faculty took interest in the process of pot compost and many have booked the pots for composting which will be supplied by Ramakrishna Mission.
Chairman meets the Leadership Team of TCS & Puneeth Rajkumar at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru
Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary was at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru event and met Mr. Puneeth Rakjumar who has been the face of TCSW10K since 2012. Puneeth is the Indian film actor, playback singer, and producer who works primarily in Kannada cinema.
Chairman also interacted with Mr. Nagaraj Ijari, VP & Global Head of HiTech & Professional Services Business Unit at TCS and Mr. Satishchandra Doreswamy, VP and Global Head of Cloud Infrastructure of TCS during the event.
VP-Corporate Relationship, Outlook Group visits Sahyadri
Ms.Pranamanjari, Vice President-Corporate Relationship, Outlook Group visited Sahyadri. She interacted with Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and appreciated his contribution in the field of professional education. She acknowledged the fact that in a short span of 11 years the college has taken lot of initiatives to nurture the young talent pool. She made a mention that the college infrastructure is providing the right environment. She visited the in-house startup and industries and appreciated the passion with which students are involving in each and every activities of the campus.
MBAs meet Hanumantharaya IPS, DCP (Law & Order) for information on Recruitment in Indian Army
A total of 19 students from MBA Dept. expressed their interest to join Indian Army and as advised by Mr. Hanumantharaya IPS, DCP (Law & Order), met him and sought guidance on how they should take their dream forward. DCP was amazed to see the number of students from MBA with zeal to work in the Indian Army. After stimulating them, he then directed them to meet Col. M A Rajmannar, SM, Director of Army Recruitment Office, Kulur, Mangaluru.
Chief Administrative Officers of Criss Cross International Pvt Ltd, Nepal visit Sahyadri
Mr. Karun Rajbhandari & Mr. Anjan Babu Ojha from Criss Cross International Pvt, Nepal visited Sahyadri and explored the campus and visited the in-house startups and industries. Both were of high appreciation for creating a conducive learning environment for the students.
Criss Cross International Pvt. Ltd is a leading Education Consultancy in Nepal. It is actively engaged in guiding students for their higher education. It is authorized by Ministry of Education, Nepal and Educational Consultancies Association, Nepal (ECAN). Criss Cross is involved in Educational Counselling, Career Counselling, Educational Seminar & Workshops, Test preparation and Language classes, Documentation & Visa Processing.
Sahyadri ranked 4th in Sports & Cultural in the year 2018-19 among 201 VTU affiliated colleges
Namrasha N Ganiga will be receiving the scholarship of Rs. 13,000 from VTU for securing Second place in All India Inter-University Wushu competition and 6 other students would be receiving cash award for participating in All India Inter-University competitions.

Sahyadri organizes a talk on “Combating Terrorism - Role of Youth” in commemoration of World Anti-Terrorism Day
In commemoration of Anti-Terrorism day, Sahyadri organized a session for the First Year Engineering students on the topic “Combating Terrorism - Role of Youth”. Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor conducted the session for the students and explained the meaning, definition, types, causes, impact and how we youth can combat the elements of terror. The students also took a pledge to not indulge in anti-social activities and create a terror-free safe society.
Sahyadri hosts "Bunts Premier League - BPL 2019"
"Bunts Premier League - BPL 2019” flags off in Mangalore at the beautiful Sahyadri cricket ground. The three day sporting event was inaugurated by Shri. Sadananda Shetty, Chairman - Shree Devi Education Trust, Mangaluru. Total of eight teams are battling for the prestigious tournament with the participation of leading cricketers across Udupi District and Dakshina Kannada.
Cine Star Mr. Rakshith Shetty, Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Chairman - Alva's Education Foundation were also present during the inaugural ceremony. The Finals of the BPL 2019 is scheduled on Sunday, the 26th May 2019.

ISE Student secures Second Place in TBT Productathon at IIT, Roorkee
Ms. Basavarajeshwari Ambi of 2nd year Information Science & Engineering received 2nd prize in TBT Productathon, in Cognizance-2019 held at IIT-Roorkee, Uttarkhand. She also mentored a total of 22 first year students who participated in Cyborg BreakIn, Quad-Drone and Posedion events. She even received a Student Partnership Certificate from Internshala for being the Campus Ambassador for Cognizance IIT Rookee.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Wuerth Elektronik Pvt Ltd.
Wurth Elektronik Pvt Ltd. conducted a final round of interview for the 2018 batch & 2019 batch Mechanical and Electronics & Communication Engineering shortlisted candidates. Ms. Mamatha Prabhu- HRD, accompanied by Ms. Abhineetha, Mr. Rajesh- Team Leader and Mr. Kailash Ramesh were at the campus to facilitate the process. The final results are awaited.
Sahyadrians Recruited by Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS)
Mr. Akash Gupta, Mr. Shivaraj, Mr. Akshaya, Mr. Rakshan C Naik and Mr. Sudesh N Acharya from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering have been recruited by SIMS for the position of Graduate Marine Engineering (GME), with a package of Rs. 13.5 Lakhs per annum, in the recently held Campus Recruitment drive for the 2019 outgoing batch.
Workshop on HR Analytics organized for the MBA-HR Students
Prof. Sushma V, Dept. of Business Administration facilitated a workshop on “HR Analytics” for the MBA-HR students. Sushma was deputed by Sahyadri for a “Short Term Course on HR Analytics” at IIT, Kharagpur and she recently trained a batch at JKSHIM, Nitte on the same topic.
