Mr. Vinod Prabhu of Seventh Sense Talent Solutions Visits Sahyadri

Mr. Vinod Prabhu, Managing Director, Seventh Sense Talent Solutions, Hyderabad, visited the Campus. He interacted with Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal and Mrs. Rashmi Bhandary, Head of Placements. He was taken around the Campus and expressed his happiness to see the infrastructure and facilities provided in the College and praised the growth of the institution in such a short span of time.

Career Guidance for Aspiring Degree Students

Mr. U. S. Vishweswara Bhat, Kannada Faculty and Human Resource Development Trainer from Vitla PU College conducted a session for aspiring degree students in the Campus. Learning Style, Career Guidance and Personality Assessment were some of the topics addressed by the resource person.

2nd Inter-State & 42nd Karnataka State Dental Conference Inaugurated in the Sahyadri Campus

The inaugural function of the three-day “2nd Inter State & 42nd Karnataka State Dental Conference” was held at the Auditorium of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management.
Dr. Dibyendu Mazumder, President, Dental Council of India was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, Vice President, Dental Council of India & Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation was the Guest of Honour.

On the occasion, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary spoke about “Service as your Motto.” He also highlighted the essence of transfer of knowledge and emphasized the importance of “Work for your Satisfaction.” Later the guests inaugurated the Trade Fair & Auto Expo at the venue.

The institution is proud to be able to host such an esteemed Conference at its venue. More than 2000 delegates from across the country participated in the conference.

Three-day Workshop on Writing Tulu Articles in Wikipedia Inaugurated

A three-day Workshop on writing Tulu articles in Wikipedia was inaugurated in the Campus by Dr. Shivaram Shetty, Professor, S.V.P. Kannada Adyana Samsthe, Mangalore University. It was jointly organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Smt. M. Janaki Brahmavar, President, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy presided over the function. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mr. Nitte Shashidara Shetty, President of Vishwa Tuluvere Parbha were the Chief Guests. Dr. Kishor Rai, Workshop Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Sri. Pavanaja U. B. Program Manager, Indian Languages, The Centre for Internet and Society Bangalore, and representative of Wikipedia, Bangalore, is the resource person for the workshop. Around thirty students and six other participants from in and around Mangalore and Udupi will be participating and writing Tulu articles in Wikipedia which will be guided by Sri. Pavanaja. Dr. Vishwanath Badikana, Kannada Professor, St. Aloysius College, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The Valedictory ceremony of the three-day workshop “Kajja Kottya”- writing Tulu articles in Wikipedia jointly organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy and Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management was presided over by Sri. Pavanaja U. B., Program Manager, Indian Languages, The Centre for Internet and Society Bangalore, and representative of Wikipedia, Bangalore. He spoke about the importance of keeping Wikipedia alive by uploading quality tulu articles.

Dr. Ashok Alva, Regional Research Centre, Udupi, Mr. Vasanth Kedige, Media Consultant, Aptra Technologies and Mrs. Sreelatha U.A., AAO, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management were the Chief Guests. Mrs. Sreelatha U.A. addressed the audience by saying “It was an opportunity for Sahyadri to associate with Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy.” She congratulated the students who took part and exhibited their talents in enriching Tulu Wikipedia by uploading articles. She encouraged them to continue their extracurricular activities. Dr. Kishor Rai, Workshop Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and Dr. Vishwanath Badikana, Kannada Professor, St. Aloysius College, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

            

Dr. C. Ranganathaia Delivers Popular Science Talk

Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Director of Research delivered a popular science talk titled “Origin of mass and fundamental forces” at Raghavendra Gurukula Vidyapeeta Science College, Mysore. The talk created a lot of interest among the students and faculty resulting in a fruitful interaction session after the speech. The organizers opined that this interesting topic excited the young minds to learn more about science and new discoveries.

Faculty Member Invited as Chief Guest

Smt. Shreelatha U. A , AAO, and member of Juvenile Justice Board, Women & Child Welfare Department, was invited as the Chief Guest for the 35th Annual Day Celebration of Sri Ramakrishna Nursery and Primary School at A.B. Shetty Centenary Hall, Bunts Hostel, Mangalore. She delivered a speech on the topic “Child Enrichment : Role of Parents and Teachers in Enhancing their Life.”

Dr. B. P Murali Addresses MBA Students

Dr. B. P. Murali, Faculty of Madurai Kamaraj University and also a guest faculty at IIM, Ahmedabad visited the Campus. He conducted a session on Marketing for first year students of the Department of Business Administration. He spoke about 4 P’s of marketing and their impact on the marketing environment. He explained the demand factor and how important it is in current day business. He approached the concept with a case study of detergent industry to drive home the point that demand is more complex than what appears on the surface.

He also elaborated on competitor and competition. He gave practical insights to the students on the present marketing environment and its impact on business. The class was interactive and our students were indeed privileged to hear Dr. B. P. Murali speak on some of the important aspects of marketing.

Outbound Training Programme for MBA Students

98 students from the First year MBA accompanied by 14 faculty members have participated in Outbound Training Program at Bhagamandala, Madikeri district. The students also visited Dubare Elephant Camp as part of this program. The training aimed at developing skills such as group dynamics, crisis management, leadership, knowing your team and working with the team and negotiation skills. Mr. Venkat Ramani and his team from Varnaaz facilitated the training activities.
