19th VTU Athletic meet: Sahyadri overall champions for Fifth year

Sahyadri Athletic team won the Overall Championship with 91 points (Boys’ & Girls’ combined) for the fifth year and bagged the Team Championship in the girls section with 59 points and 32 points in boys Section events, at the 19th VTU Inter-collegiate Athletic Meet 2016-17 held at Dr,TTIT Stadium, Kolar, organized by Dr. T.Thimaiah Institute of Technology. Ms. Manisha is awarded individual Champion in Girls section. The College also won the Second place in the March Past. The athletic meet witnessed participation from 127 colleges with close to 1520 athletes.

Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ashwath Rao, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mr. Bharath Bhushan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering have received a Seed Grant of $1000 (One thousand dollars) for Research work towards development of Infant Detection and Esleep System.

• Infant Detection: We intend to develop a novel approach to detect the infants left unattended in a vehicle and trigger the buzzer to alert the people around.

• Esleep System: We intend to use “meditation” and “attention” values computed by the NeuroSky EEG sensor as indicator of sleep level, and then based on it's value regulate the subject's brain activities.

Hon. Ravindra Mane visits Sahyadri

Hon. Ravindra Mane, Ex-Minister Finance & Planning, Urban Development, Irrigation, Water Supply & Sanitation of Maharashtra visits Sahyadri along with his Academic and Management team to take forward what positives can be taken for the development of Rajendra Mane College of Engineering & Technology. Hon. Ravindra Mane is also an Ex-Guardian Minister of Ratnagiri District. He founded the Prabodhan Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha, Devrukh. The sole object of the sanstha was to promote the education of the people of the region and also towards welfare and uplift of human society. RMCET Team constituted Principal Dr. Mahesh Bhagwat, HOD’s and coordinators.

They appreciated the scientific efforts of Sahyadri and exceptional practices implemented in the college. They were in awe of the developments of this college.

Officials from Tarapur Industries visit Sahyadri

Mr. Velji, Mr. Paresh Shah, Mr. Praful Shah, Dr. Lalit Raghani, Mr. Jagadeesh Dhedia and Mr. Jagannath Bhandary, the Officials from Tarapur Industries, Mumbai , had visited the campus and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. On their tour around the campus, they showed their appreciation towards the growth and infrastructure in the campus.

MBA students attend a web-cast session

Second Year MBA Marketing students attended a web-cast session on 'Media Planning & Buying' by Ogilvy & Mather experts. Session covered the following concepts:

  • Introduction to the concept of Media Planning
  • Techniques involved and use of theoretical concepts
  • Career options and scope
  • Skill-set/ courses required
  • Expert opinion on entrepreneurial ambitions in the field
The session was conducted by Mr. Altamash Khan who has over 6 years of experience in digital marketing having core expertise in digital media planning and buying, digital media strategy, social media marketing, content marketing, programmatic & audience buying, email marketing. He is also well versed with digital tools like ComScore, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Facebook R&F and Adgooroo and has cleared Google AdWords Certification twice. Has experience of working on brands across diverse categories majorly FMCG, Auto, Entertainment, BFSI, Retail, Real Estate & Travel amongst others. Currently, he works with Maxus India (GroupM) as a Business Manager handling the complete brand portfolio of Garnier. He has also worked in HBO, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Starbucks India. He has an experience of lecturing & training in the past 2 years in multiple institutes covering digital marketing topics.

Second Year MBA Marketing students attended a web-cast session on 'Import Export and International Business' by Mr. Paras Mehta, Chartered Accountant. Session covered the following concepts:

1. How International Business takes place
2. How to setup Import Export Company
3. Dynamics of Trade Business

Mr. Mehta, has been through diversified experience in a very short span of time. He has been into Company law, International Trade, Direct taxation, GST, Startups consultant and as legal advisor.

The session was organized in association with Webind. Certificates were issued to the student participants at the end of the session.

Guest Talk on “Health & Fitness” by Mr. Murthy R.K

Mr. Murthy R.K. CEO & Co-founder, Ashva Running Club visited Sahyadri and engaged a session on Health & Fitness to the students as well as the faculty members. He said, success is not easy to achieve, instead requires a lot of dedication. He emphasized that one should never wait to take an initiative for a better cause. He threw light on ideal diet and also briefed on having healthy and balanced diet. He concluded by saying that one should tune themselves to look smarter.

Alumnus interacts with Civil Engineering Department

Mr. Vikas Shetty, Design Engineer, Endeavor Infratech Ltd., an alumnus of the college addressed the students from the Department of Civil Engineering. During the interaction, he stressed on the importance of various Civil Engineering software in the current related Industries. Students were briefed on the work methods and work culture at industries that are essential to meet the global quality needs. He shared few useful tips on how to face the challenges in the industries, post which he also interacted with the HOD and faculties of the department. Mr. Vikas Shetty has assured us that he would offer Internship opportunities to our students at his organization.

Balaraj Naik, Chairman, Karnataka THANDA Development Corporation Limited, Bangalore, Sri. Srinivasa N., Vice Chairman, Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited and Sri. Harish visited the campus and met the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. They appreciated the exceptional practices implemented in the college. They were in awe of the developments of the college.

ISO Surveillance Audit

Mr. Mohan Khandate & Mr. Sachin Patil from TUV Nord Pvt. Ltd. visited the campus for ISO 9001:2008 II surveillance audit. Principal presented before them the college proceedings. They visited various departments and checked the documentation. They appreciated the practices adapted by the college in moving towards Project based learning. Few suggestions were put forth for further improving the documentation.

IBM India pooled campus recruitment drive

IBM India visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2017 batch. 550 students from the pool colleges were part of the recruitment process. Seventeen candidates have been selected by the company out of which nine are Sahyadrians.

SIMS-Cochin pooled campus recruitment drive

The Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies – SIMS, Cochin visited Sahydari to conduct the pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2017 batch. Mr. Sandesh S, Admission Officer, SIMS- Cochin accompanied by panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire process.

Seventh Sense pooled campus recruitment drive

Seventh Sense Talent Solutions visited Sahydari to conduct the pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2016 batch. Mr. Magnesh Amin, HR – Learning & Development, Seventh Sense Talent Solutions was at the campus to facilitate the entire process.

Sahyadrians recruited by Artech

Eight of our students have been recruited by Artech Infosystems Pvt. Ltd. in the recently held pooled campus recruitment drive. Ms. Pooja Anand, Manager – HR, Artech accompanied by panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire process.

Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director Research & Consultancy published a research article titled "Biosynthesis of silver nano-particles using pre-hydrolysis liquor of Eucalyptus wood and its effective antimicrobial activity" in Enzyme and Microbial Technology.

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering published a research article titled "A Comprehensive Review on Various State-Of-The-Art Techniques For Early Lung Cancer Detection" in Imperial Journal of Interdisciplinary Research (IJIR), Volume 2, Issue-12, 2016.

Sahyadrians excel in Sports

Sahyadri Girls power lifting team has won the Championship, while the Boys weight lifting team has won the fourth place in the VTU inter-collegiate weight lifting, best physique and power lifting competition held at GAT Bengaluru.
