Constitution day celebrated
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated in India in honour of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, known as the architect of the Indian constitution. On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it went into effect on 26 January 1950.
The Government of India declared 26 November as Constitution Day on 19 November 2015 by a gazette notification. The year of 2015 is the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, who had chaired the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in the drafting of the constitution. Previously this day was celebrated as Law Day. 26 November was chosen to spread the importance of the constitution and to spread thoughts and ideas of Dr. Ambedkar.
The constitution day was celebrated in the college. Prof. Suresh Prabhu, an Advocate and a Lecturer in Indian constitution graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his speech he shed Light on the importance of celebrating the day. He also gave over view of the History of drafting of Indian constitution and its uniqueness.
Speaking on this occasion Dr. U. M Bhushi explained all fundamental duties described in the constitution and appealed the faculty to follow in day today life and uphold the integrity of the nation. He also rendered pledge towards upholding the dignity of the country.
Vice Principal, HOD’s including faculty members were present during the occasion.

Forty One Sahyadrians recruited by Hinduja Global Solutions
Hinduja Global Solutions visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2017 batch. Forty One students of Sahyadri have been recruited by the Company. Mr. Arjun Rao, Talent Acquisition, Hinduja Global Solutions was at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process.

 Archana from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering has been recruited by Semnox Solution Pvt. Ltd. in the pooled campus recruitment drive conducted for the batch of 2017.

R S Group pooled campus recruitment Drive
R S Group visited Sahyadri to conduct pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2016 batch. Mr. Prasad Shetty, President, R S Group accompanied by panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire process. Nine candidates have been selected by the company.

Webinar on “Search Engine Optimization”
First year MBA students attended a web-cast session on ''Search Engine Optimization” facilitated by Rahul Sonone, Head of Digital Media, Igenero Web Solutions Pvt Ltd organized in association with Webind. The session covered concepts relating to the importance of SEO in an online business, operations of Page Ranking on Google and also the importance of keywords for website traffic. Students are issued certificates for this session.

MBA Faculties attend 6-Day FDP at IIMK on “Innovative Approaches in Management Teaching”
Five faculties from the Department of Business Administration – Dr. Molly S Chaudhuri, Prof. Ramesh KG, Prof. Padmanabha B, Prof. Abhaya Kumar K & Prof. Sushma V were deployed for a Faculty Development Programme at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK) on “Innovative Approaches in Management Teaching” during Nov 14th – Nov 19th’2016.
The six day programme included sessions on Peer Learning, Visuals-based Teaching, Activity & Game-based Teaching, Case-based Teaching, Innovative Teaching Methods, Teaching through Historical Cases & Narratives, Teaching through social media and Audio/Video Advertisements. Participants were also given heads up on understanding the Learning style of the students through psychometric test and designing the Teaching Pedagogy basis the style of learning either through visuals, listening or practice. Sahyadri faculties had an opportunity to conduct a class during the session followed by feedback being shared by the facilitator of the programme. Sahyadri MBA Team spent quality time discussing the practices adopted at IIMK in order to carry out the best practices at Sahyadri & give the best learning experience to the students.

Value Added Course in Solid Works organised by Department of Mechanical Engineering
A value added course was organised by Department of Mechanical Engineering for the Third semester students in Solid Works software to provide software skill to help them in their upcoming project work. Solid Works is modelling and analysis software which is widely used in mechanical industrial applications. The course was planned for the duration of 45 hours accommodating 34 students. This course started on 25th September 2016 and ended on 5th November 2016. The faculty in charge of the course were Prof. Sandeep M J, Prof. Kishore D J & Prof. Vivek G Bharadwaj. The valedictory function was held in the Mechanical Department in the presence of Dr. Umesh M Bushi, Principal, Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, Prof. Umashankar, Dean Academics, Prof. Mahesh B Davanageri, Head of the Department, Faculty and the students who participated in the course. Dignitaries of the programme issued Certificates to the students who completed the course successfully.

Sahyadri hosted a Dinner for Athletic Champions and Parents
A dinner was hosted at Sahyadri Food Court in gratitude to the champions of 19th VTU Inter collegiate Athletic meet for a gathering of 75 members including winners and parents.
Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman addressed the gathering on the importance of academics and sports in shaping the students future. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal congratulated the students and thanked the parents for the support and encouragement towards participation in sports activities.

Subhod, an Alumnus interacts with the faculties
Mr. Subhod I, an alumnus of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, currently working as a Software Engineer for Persistent Systems Ltd, interacted with the Placement Team and the faculties of Department of Computer Science & Engineering. During his interaction, he discussed about the relevance of core subjects in the industry. He also spoke about the research areas and the emerging technologies in the industry and the importance of aptitude to get placed in reputed organizations.
Sahaj, an Alumnus interacts with the students and faculties
Mr. Sahaj K V, Research Scholar, Applied Mechanics, NITK, Surathkal, an alumnus of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management addressed the students from the Department of Civil Engineering of 3rd and 7th Semester. During the interaction, Mr. Sahaj K V stressed on the importance of pursuing higher education after B.E. He spoke about the work culture and students' attitude towards learning in premium institutions. He highlighted the importance of preparation pertaining to entrance exams right from third semester since these exams dealt with the basic concepts alone. He also expressed the importance of converting the student projects to publication and explained on how it would add value to the student profile. He also interacted with the HOD and faculties of the department.

Ravi Kumar, an Alumnus interacts with students and faculty
Mr. Ravi Kumar, Design Engineer, Poorna Consulting Engineers, Bengaluru, an alumnus of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management addressed the students from the Department of Civil Engineering of first semester M.Tech (Structural Engineering & CADS). Mr. Ravi Kumar emphasised on the work methods and work culture at industries that are essential to meet the global demands in Civil Engineering. He shared tips on how challenges in the industries can be faced, post which he also interacted with the HOD and the faculty.

Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation Ltd, signed an MOU with the Consultancy Cell, Department of Civil Engineering to facilitate the third party consultancy works more efficiently. Mr. Siddaraju, Managing Director, Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation Ltd, Prof. Amarnath S N, Prof. Umesh S S, HOD (PG), Dr. S Manjappa, Director of Research, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal and other officials from Dr. B R Ambedkar Development Corporation Ltd were present while signing the MOU.

Mr. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has been invited to conduct Workshop on Computer Vision using Raspberry Pi 3 at Springer International Conference on Soft Computing: Theories and Applications (SoCTA 2016) organized by Amity University and technically sponsored by Machine Intelligence Research Labs (MIR Labs), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
