Adjunct Professor of Indian Scientific Heritage facilitates sessions on “Rapid Reading Practice” for Engineering Students

Dr. S Ramakrishna Sharma, Adjunct Professor of Indian Scientific Heritage, recently held sessions for the first year engineering students about “Rapid Reading Practice” which is very essential for vast knowledge management. One has to observe the time taken for reading one page.

There are a few things to be taken care of and they are:
1. Peaceful reading environment
2. Proper light from the left side falling on the book
3. Right posture
4. Right distance between the book and the reader
5. No loud reading
6. Reading in the mind only – glancing in sweeps gradually upgrading from sentences to paragraphs and to a whole page by graded practice over the period of weeks.

Boredom is a mental creation. Physical fatigue is a fact. The eyes may get tired after hours of reading. The way out is to enjoy the greenery, keep shifting the focus from distant greenery to a tree or plant nearby.

LSRW – Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing this is the language learning process conventionally considered to be common enough for all languages. But this is also applicable for developing photographic memory at will. Listening to the faculty – Speaking about what is listened to, to the class mates at leisure – Reading the same content/lecture notes – Writing to check the level of grasping. The Mind-Camera can be made active by consistent practice.

Faculty publishes a Research Paper in the Conference Proceedings of IEEE International Conference 2018

A paper titled "Gray Scale Image Multi-Thresholding with Chaotic Cuckoo Search" co-authored by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, faculty in the Department of Computer Science & engineering has been published in the conference proceedings of the 2018 IEEE International Conference on System, Computation, Automation and Networking (ICSCA). Image processing field is widely adopted in a variety of domains to examine and extract the vital features. Image multi-thresholding is an essential pre-processing field, widely implemented to pre-process the classical and medical images. In this paper, pre-processing of benchmark gray scale is implemented using the Chaotic Cuckoo Search (CCS) algorithm using the Tsallis entropy value. The experimental investigation is implemented with the Matlab7 software using test images of 512x512 pixels. The performance of CCS is confirmed with the other heuristic methods, such as FA, BA and PSO. The experimental results of this study verify that, implemented CCS tenders enhanced outcome with improved image quality measures and the run time compared with other algorithms adopted in this paper. This work confirms that, chaotic algorithms are better than the conventional approaches.
