Chairman conferred with Eminent Engineer of the year Award 2016 by The Institution of Engineers (India) Chairman of Bhandary foundation, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, is awarded for his meritorious services in the field of Education and social activities on the 49th Engineers day celebration, by The Institution of Engineers (India) Karnataka State Centre, Banglaore in the august presence of renowned Engineers, Scientists from DRDO, IISc, NAL, VSSC and many practicing and retired Engineers. This is an annual flagship event of Institution of Engineers where they recognize the contribution of Engineers in various allied fields.

Chairman addressed on the theme of “Skill development for Young Engineers to reform the core Sector: Vision 2025”. Our Engineering education should cater to address the social issues. Since we cannot foresee the expectations in 2025, but skills can be nurtured to meet any dynamic challenges. He focused on how the intellectual capital of Premier Institute like IISc, IIT, NIT is not directly impacting the society due to brain drain, despite huge investments on them. Every act of learning should collate to prepare students as Practicing Engineers. He remembered the versatile traits of Sir MV and wished if everyone treads his footsteps it would be a different world. He expressed that award belonged every stakeholders of Sahyadri, in the form of students, staff, Industry personnel who have mentored students.

Chairman inaugurates Dakshin Kannada Junior Athletics Meet Dakshina Kannada District Junior Athletic meet organized by Dakshina Kannada Athletics Association was inaugurated by our Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary at the Mangala Stadium, Mangalore. 1100 athletes from all over the district participated in the event, including the Sahyadri athletics team.

MBA Industry exposure visit

SSTH Zonal Event held at Govinda Dasa P. U. COLLEGE SSTH Zonal Event held at Govinda Dasa P. U. COLLEGE An Industrial visit was organized for Marketing and Marketing Finance students (65 Nos) of MBA to Campco Chocolate Factory and Master Plannery, Puttur. They were accompanied by two faculties of the department. Mr. Panduranga Shenoy, PRO, Campco Chocolate factory briefed the students on the history and process carried out at the unit in Puttur. The students travelled around the factory and had a visual tour of the process. The supervisor helped the students to understand the flow of activities in the factory and also clarified all the queries asked by the students. Post lunch students visited Master Plannery, Puttur. The students were shown the actual execution of the entire process of creating concood furniture, hollow block and other products. Students had the opportunity of viewing the various innovative products manufactured under one roof of the unit.

Monsoon Camp by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd Monsoon Camp by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd Three days RENEW Monsoon Camp was organized by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. at Sahyadri Campus. Forty-four students from different schools participated in the camp. The camp mainly focused on personality development and delivering technical knowledge to the student participants. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Abhishek Bhandary, CEO, Octaplus Mangalore. The 3 days camp included, Aero-modelling by Kinetic Hobbies, Mixed Martial Arts & Self Defence by Monkey Mayhem Fight Club Mangalore, Health Tips by Octaplus, Note Taking and Communication Skills.

During the valedictory ceremony the participants showcased their talents and certificates to the winners as well as the participants were given away by Mr. Jacob Tellis, Chairman, Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd.

Workshop on Website Replication by Flicker Infotech

Flicker Infotech, the student start-up, is a design, development of websites, mobile application & Software Company.

Flicker Infotech will be conducting free workshop on Website Replication for Sahyadrians on the 16th of October, 2016 between 9AM to 5PM at Sahyadri campus.

Community Initiative Drive “Lend A Hand - Power of 10”

Community Initiative Drive "Joy of Giving" is in making time to help others, even if we are struggling with our own personal problems. Sahyadri Management Student Association (SMSA) led Community Initiative Drive “Lend A Hand - Power of 10” was successfully executed at Samvedana, a home for HIV-Positive children, Pumpwell, Mangalore.

Department of Business Administration truly appreciates the gesture of students, not only MBA but also of Engineering who contributed generously to brighten the life of under-privileged children. It is worth mentioning of the objectives accomplished during the visit to Samvedana:
  • Sahyadri volunteers conducted sessions to educate children on hygiene, healthy eating habits, news paper reading, road safety, dressing habits, health awareness etc.
  • Sahyadri volunteers engaged with the children through Spot games & Quiz competition.
  • Sponsored a special meal which included the menu as suggested by the Samvedana Staff.
  • Granted the basic necessities for children like Bath Towel, Tooth Paste, Tooth Brush, Bathing & Washing Soap, Detergent Powder, Dish wash Soaps, Buckets & Mug, Tea Powder, Stationery Kit, Fruits & Biscuits, Chocolates and also Phenyl for the cleanliness of the Ashram.
  • Gave old clothes, in wearable condition.
  • Cake cutting to celebrate with the children.
Sahyadri volunteers returned with immense learning outcomes from looking at their hearty smile that - life is about smiling the heart out and living a very happy life. We take our life, our family and also our health for granted and somewhere fail to appreciate and acknowledge their presence in our life. People who don’t have it, realize its true worth.

Area Manager of Tommy Hilfiger interacts with the MBA’s Mr. Shyam, Area Manager, Tommy Hilfiger addressed the second year MBA Marketing specialization students. He addressed about retail industry, growth in retail industry and also spoke about the opportunities in retail. Tommy Hilfiger, a premium brand, has a store in Mangalore in addition to more than 250 stores in the country. He addressed the students regarding the opportunities at Tommy Hilfiger for internships and placements and also assured to comeback by November for campus hiring. The session concluded by clarifying doubts of the students on retail industry.

Sahyadri Girls’ Throw Ball team wins the first runner-up trophy Sahyadri Girls’ Throw ball team has won the first runner-up trophy in the VTU Inter-Collegiate and Inter-Zone Throw ball Tournament held at NIEIT, Mysore. Tanya K Shetty, as the team Captain, Satvika J Rai, Jyotsna Alva, Gowri Ganesh, Kalpitha, Krupa SR, Swathi, Arpitha, Srishti Sureshkumar, Meghana and Prathiksha Bhat represented the college in the tournament.
