Janatics India Private Ltd. Visits Sahyadri

Mr. Subramanya Bhat - AGM - Marketing and Mr. K. Ganapathy Subramaniam - Head - Applications & Training from Janatics India Private Ltd. visited the campus and interacted with the Management and the faculty members to explore the possibilities of setting up the hands-on experience lab in the institution equivalent to that of the industry so as to make the students excel in their future career.

Alumni Interact with the Student Community

Mr. Shivaprasad Shetty, Senior Software Engineer, Symphony Teleca, Bangalore and Mr. Vasudevan, Associate Software Engineer, Tech Mahindra, alumni of the College, interacted with the students of Semester III of the department of Computer Science & Engineering.

The alumni were eager to share their knowledge about the interview process and work culture in the corporate sector. They inspired the students by sharing with them the importance of projects and internships in academics. Students greatly benefitted from their interaction.

New Entrants to the M.Tech. Course Welcomed

The new entrants to the M.Tech. course were welcomed to the College by the Principal, Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi. He motivated them to look beyond academics to shape a better future. He put forth today’s scenario and the need to compete with the experienced counterparts for jobs. He urged the students to gain the necessary experience through projects and research in the next two years of learning at Sahyadri.

Prof. B. S. Umashankar, Dean (Academics) highlighted the important VTU regulations, the structure of the M. Tech. course from Semester I to IV and the teaching-learning process at Sahyadri.

Dr. Goutham Jeppu, M. Tech. Co-ordinator, explained the important differences between the UG and PG programmes, highlighting on research. He introduced the respective departmental co-ordinators to the students.

Prof. Dayanand Shetty, Director-STEP delivered his address on IEEE, its importance and motivated the students to become members of the IEEE Student Chapter.

Alumna of the College Ms. Jayapadmini and now Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science & Engineering coordinated the programme as the MC.

Induction Programme for the New Entrants to the MBA Course Held in the Campus

An Induction Programme for the new entrants to the MBA course for the year 2015-17 was conducted in the Campus.

Dr. A P Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration welcoming the students told them that they had chosen the right course to excel in their career. He also emphasized that they should start behaving like managers in their daily routine in order to emerge as successful managers. He clarified that the MBA programme has gained importance in the last few years as there is a gap between education and employment which should be bridged by employability skills which will be trained through an MBA program.

The Chief Guest Mr. Shreevatsa S, CEO, Specvin Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Mysore shared effective tips on how the students should groom themselves in the two years to a level that is expected by the corporate organisations. During his session he stimulated the students to spend more time in the library studying management books, Harvard Business case studies, and motivational books and reading business newspapers. He also highlighted that students should set a SMART long and short term goal in the stream they are passionate about.

Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal in his presidential address, urged students to develop the right attitude as the corporate industries are keen to acquire students with such an attitude even if they are with average intelligence. He has encouraged the students to exhibit professionalism at every second of their life at Sahyadri and to be role models and lead the engineering students.

Dr. Vishal Samartha, Professor, Department of Business Administration, gave an insight about the Sahyadri MBA program and also introduced the core faculty members of the department.

Flautist Pandit Rupak Kulkarni Hindustani Musical Concert at Sahyadri

Flautist Pandit Rupak Kulkarni in association with the SPIC MACAY, Mangalore Chapter gave a Hindustani musical concert in the Campus mesmerizing the audience with his musical flavor and unique creativity. The future musicians of Sahyadri were deeply touched by the soothing rhythm and the audience greatly appreciated the concert and the finesse of the flautist.

Pandit Rupak Kulkarni has had the privilege to be the disciple of the great flautist Padmavibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Ethnus Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. Conducts a One-day Training Session

Ethnus Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. conducted a one-day training session and solved mock test papers for the eligible students of final year Engineering aspiring for jobs in Infosys and Tech Mahindra. 250 students went through the session in preparation for the upcoming interview by Infosys in the campus.

Kedige Vasanth Rao Participates In DIGI WISE Seminar

Mr. Kedige Vasanth Rao, the media consultant of Sahyadri, attended a one-day seminar on digital marketing DIGI WISE, held at Google India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. The seminar was organized by htcampus.com and Google India. A large number of representatives of private as well as government institutes participated in the event which emphasized on, ‘Make a Difference to Your Education!’ According to a study conducted this year, 80% of the parents and students browsed the web before selecting the institutes for higher studies for their wards.

Mr. Vidyasagar Baliyara, Strategic Partner Manager, Google India, stated that more number of people now take their decisions by educating themselves through the online source and with the changing consumer behaviour, the institutes need to come up with more relevant information on their websites as it affects the decisions of the consumers.

The session ended by an interaction with the various experts in the digital marketing stream by the HTCampus team. Mr. Vidyasagar has been with Google for the last 3 years. In his role as a Strategic Partner Manager, Sagar is heavily focused on bringing Google products and solutions to SMEs in India.

The Indian Navy Campus Drive

The Indian Navy conducted an exclusive campus recruitment drive for the final year students of engineering under the University Entry Scheme for the position of Technical Executive. The selection process involved a group discussion followed by a face-to-face interaction. The results are awaited. The Indian Navy is a well balanced and a cohesive three dimensional force, capable of operating above, on and under surface of the oceans efficiently, safeguarding our national interests.

Team DREAMERS at Pilikula Science Exhibition

A team from Sahyadri DREAMERS R&D Pvt. Ltd. participated in the exhibition representing Sahyadri at the Pilikula Science Exhibition organized by Pilikula Science Center, where schools and colleges were invited for the two-day exhibition. The students of the College presented five projects which included, Octocopter, Smart Helmet, Humanoid, Bluetooth bot and the 3D Printer. Eminent personalities like K.V Rao, Director, Pilikula Science Center, M Ibrahim, District Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada were present and appreciated the students for their efforts. Students from schools and colleges all over Dakshina Kannada participated in the exhibition.

Civil Engineering Students Visit a Construction Site

Students of the final year of the Department of Civil Engineering visited 'Marian Park' near Kadri which is a construction site owned and being executed by Marian Projects Pvt. Ltd. The students gathered knowledge about scaffolding and form work and had fruitful and insightful interactions with the project manager Er. Anirudh Rao Katapadi and his team at the site.

SPACE Student Association Inaugurated for the Academic Year 2015-16

Sahyadri Pupils Association of Civil Engineering (SPACE) for the academic year 2015-16 was inaugurated by Er. Ujwal D'Souza, CEO, Marian Projects Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru. In his inaugural speech he spoke on the mantra for success. The inauguration was followed by a technical talk on ' Career Opportunities for Civil Engineers'.

Prof. Purushotham C.T, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the gathering. Ms. Kavyashree M.P, SPACE Coordinator presented a report of SPACE activities for the academic year 2015-16. Mr. Ajith T, President of SPACE gave the vote of thanks.

Faculty Members Attend Seminars

Prof. B. Raghavendra Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, attended a seminar on "SPOORTHI for YOUTH" at Sri Venkatramana College, Bantwal and interacted with the final year B.Com. students.

Mr. Ramesh KG, Assistant Professor S.G and Mr. Karthik Kudroli, Assistant Professor, Dept of Business Administration, attended a one-day National Seminar on Global Trends in Supply Chain Innovation held in TMA Pai Hall organised by the Department of Commerce, Manipal University, Manipal. Eminent speakers from industry such as Balaji V, COO, All Cargo Logistics, Mr. Dhruvil Sanghvi, CEO, Loginext, Ms. P. Uma Maheshwari, CII certified SCM professional and Mr. Naveen Kumar, Logistics Manager, Manipal Global, Manipal.

The faculty members interacted with the speakers on topics namely; supply chain performance management, supply chain analytics, supply chain collaboration, supply chain transformation, warehousing, inventory management, supply chain segmentation and outbound logistics. Senior supply chain professionals and academicians were present at the discussion.
