Teachers Day at Sahyadri Department of Art and Culture celebrated the Teachers Day in the presence of Principal, Vice Principal, Dean Academics and the HOD’s of all departments. The student council representatives of cultural department were also present. The winners of the drawing competition held on the occasion of Teachers Day for the students were announced.

Free Blood Test and Eye Check up Camp for Staff on the occasion of Teachers Day Free Blood Test and Eye Check up Camp for Staff on the occasion of Teachers Day In appreciation of the services rendered by the staff and to ensure their healthy living, Sahyadri NSS Unit and Sahyadri Health and Counselling Centre in association with Accu-Labs Diagnostic Centre and Delta Eye Hospital, Mangaluru organized Free Blood test and vision test camp in the campus. More than 150 staff members participated in the camp and benefited from the camp.

Sahyadri Felicitates Teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day In recognition of the valuable service rendered by teachers, Sahyadri felicitated Shri K R Devadas, Retd. Head-master of Shree Rama Aided Higher Primary and High School, Farangipet for his lifelong service in the field of education. On this occasion on 5th Sep’19, Shri Krishna Kumar Poonja, Founder - Trustee of Sewanjali Trust, Farangipet was also felicitated in recognition of his sincere social service to the society. Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice Principal, gave the keynote address.

Shri K R Devadas shared his experiences as a teacher and gave valuable advice to faculty in order to become great teachers. Shri Krishna Kumar Poonja spoke about the importance of a teacher in the society, their role as a teacher in building a progressive society and moulding the youth. He emphasized on the need to develop service mindedness among self and the students. The Principal, Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, gave the Presidential address.

SPACE - Civil Engineering Students Association inauguratedSPACE - Civil Engineering Students Association inaugurated Sahyadri Pupils Association of Civil Engineers-SPACE was inaugurated by the Chief Guest- Dr. R. Shivashankar, Professor, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal on 31st Aug’ 19. In his address, he motivated the students to consistently be competent and earn laurels in their career. Mr. Akshay Samanth, an alumnus presently working as an Project Engineer at Allcargo Logistics, Bangalore Division, was invited as the guest of honour. He spoke about the various challenges that a Civil Engineer faces in the initial stages of his career and the right attitude that one must possess to emerge successful during the same. Dr. Nalini. E. Rebello, HOD, Department of Civil Engineering, presided over the function. In her speech she stressed on the importance of hard work and how it could act as a catalyst and help the students in being successful in their future endeavours. She also motivated the students to actively participate in all the activities conducted by SPACE and groom their skills.

This health card provides concession on various healthcare facilities. A brief formal ceremony followed by the healthcare card was handed over to the staff by the Principal Dr. R. Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Dean Academics-Dr Rajesha. S, Finance Officer- Mr. Ramesh Hegde and Academic Administrative Officer- Mrs. Shreelatha U A.

The Capstone Project was a part of his Master of Design, Post Graduate program in Design Led Innovation from Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology, Bengaluru.

Expert Talk on Health Sector at Sahyadri Expert Talk on Health Sector at Sahyadri As a part of Social Innovation Programme, an Expert Talk on Health Sector was held in the campus on 31st Aug 2019. Dr Shyam Krishnan, Senior Scale Assistant Professor, KMC Mangaluru addressed the first year engineering students on the importance of health and the problems in the health sector. He also addressed on how, students as a part of the society can bring awareness with regards to health and hygiene and also guided them on the technological opportunities where they can work on. The expert has put problem statements from sector, which will be taken up by students as research projects.

Technical talk conducted by Computer Science and Engineering department. Department of Computer Science & Engineering in association with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Centre Of Excellence, has organized an Expert Talk by Ms. Shilpa Karkeraa, CEO and Founder of Myraa Technologies on “Unlocking Innovations in Various Industries with Artificial intelligence & Machine Learning” on 05th September’19. Ms. Shilpa briefed the students about Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and introduced the various application-based examples of Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence that are currently being deployed in the Industries. She also explained how challenges are identified and solutions can be modelled with the suitable technology.

Third Session for ‘AI/Big Data’ Future Skill Vertical Dr. Syam S Siwakaruni from the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering facilitated a session for the Teaching & Non-Teaching staff of ‘AI/Big Data’ Future Skill Vertical. His session was on Application oriented AI in day to day life as a focal point bringing out numerous examples such as Google Glass, Nike Fuelband – Calories Burnt, iOS Siri – Personal Assistant, IBM Via Voice – Speech Recognition, SMART Homes and so on. He re-iterated the Evolution of IoT since 2009 and emphasized on the role of AI in IoT as there are large number of companies investing hugely on IoT. He also shared the challenges and Issues related to AI and the ways to overcome these challenges.

Design 101 Workshop' by Mozilla Sahyadri and SOSC

Mozilla Sahyadri conducted a hands-on session on 'Design 101' on 31st August '19. The Workshop was conducted by core team members of SOSC and Mozilla Sahyadri. The first session of the workshop was conducted by Mr. Jehad Mohamed, Co-Design Head SOSC and ex-Club Captain Mozilla and he covered topics on Open Source and how we can contribute to it, Designing and Designers and basics of Adobe XD. The second session was conducted by Mr. Nathaniel Ryan Mathew, Vice-Club Captain Mozilla and he covered topics regarding Colours and its significance in designing. The Last session of the workshop was conducted by Mr. Dhanush Bangera, Co-Design Head SOSC and he covered topics regarding animation. The workshop was organized by club Captain Basavarajeshwari.

Sahyadri Toastmasters Conducts a Joint Meeting The Sahyadri Toastmasters conducts a joint meeting along with Milagres Toastmasters Club and Inspiron Toastmasters Club on Wednesday, 4th September 2019. The first joint meeting of this term was a grand success with the combined efforts of TM Madhura, TM Mahima and TM Aashritha, the presidents of the three clubs. The session consisted of three main segments common to any Toastmasters meeting around the globe that comprised of Prepared Speeches, Evaluation and Table Topics. The Sahyadri Toastmasters Club was started last year and has since then continued to marvel and shine.

Gillette Guard conducted Personality Grooming session 'Gillette Guard' organized a special Career Development & Personality Grooming Event, named “GELUVU NIMMADHAAGIDHE” (Success is Your’s) for the final year students from all branches on 3rd September’19. Students were trained on how to develop a smart and confident personality through a series of activities. All the students who attended the grooming session got a participation certificate and a special gift from Gillette.

MBA Alumnus – The Asst. Marketing Manager at Audi Karnataka interacted with students Mr. Chethan Anil Printo, working as an Asst. Marketing Manager, Audi Karnataka, visited the campus and addressed MBA-Marketing students on “How to handle Premier Consumers” as a part of curriculum programme of Consumer Behaviour on 4th Sep’19. He highlighted the Consumer Behavioural pattern on luxury, ultra-luxury consumers of Audi. He also shared details of the various marketing programmes organized by Audi for their premium customers. Chethan shared anecdotes on how Sahyadri provided opportunities to him in order to develop essential skills for the future market. Prof. Padmanabha B and Prof. Ramesh K G endorsed the various initiatives taken by Chethan Pinto during his course at Sahyadri.

Ms. Ramya R, Software Engineer, Honeywell International Inc., Bengaluru and Mr. Charan Kumar, Software Engineer, CISCO Systems Bengaluru were the resource persons.

Mr. Charan Kumar shared his seven years of industrial experience. He also briefed the students regarding the current industry needs and importance of good practices in programming.
