A Patent titled “System and Method for Conversion of Sunburnt Bricks into Second Class Bricks” has been filed with Patent file application number 201941036244 by a research team consisting of Ms. Rajmunni Hombal and Mr. Akshay P N, students of Final year Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering respectively; Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti, Professor and Prof. Pooja K from the Department of Civil Engineering. The Patented application relates to the area of construction technology and will soon be published and commercialized once the IPR is protected.

Mr. Manjunath Bandary, the Chairman; Dr. Nalini E Rebello, Head of Civil Engineering and Dr. S Manjappa, Director-Research were a great support in filing the Patent.

Seventeen MBAs Recruited by KPMG-GDC

Seventeen MBAs Recruited by KPMG-GDC KPMG-GDC team visited Sahyadri during 9th to 10th Sep’19 to conduct a pool campus recruitment drive for the students of MBA 2020 outgoing batch. The drive started with a pre-placement talk by Mr. Badri Subbarao Bangaru, Executive Director, KPMG-GDC. Ms. Lakshmi Venkatesh, Manager-Human Resource and Mr. Muhammad Umar, Senior Executive-HR from the recruitment team were also present. The recruitment drive was conducted for two days inclusive of Aptitude Round and Personal Interview, wherein a total of 17 students from Sahyadri MBA were selected by KPMG-GDC.

The function was graced by Hon'ble Minister, MHRD Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal; Hon'ble Minister of State, MHRD Shri Sanjay Dhotre; Chairman-AICTE Prof. Anil. D. Sahastrabuddhi and Chairman-UGC Prof. DP Singh. During the festival, Innovation cell showcased more than 70 top students’ innovations from across India.

MBAs participate in Atharv’19, a Management Fest at IIM Indore

MBAs participate in Atharv’19, a Management Fest at IIM Indore Department of Business Administration-MBA stimulates students to participate in Management Fests and Events organized by Premier Institutions and this year, a total of 6 MBA students - Nagarajun M Hejmadi, Mohammed Hasheer, Mohammed Shadman, Rashik M, Keerthan Shetty and Chethan Kumar travelled to Indore to participate in ‘Atharv’19’, the annual Cultural, Management & Literary Fest of IIM Indore held during 6th to 8th Sep’19. This event saw participation of 40,000+ students from colleges across the country. The students took part in various events like Head Hunter, Prajnya – A Quiz competition, Game of Shadows (Mid-Night event), Clash of Cults and Devil’s Advocate. Sahyadri MBAs were one among the Top 8 Teams in 3 events namely - Head Hunter, Prajnya and Clash of Cults. Students have returned with enormous exposure and connect with the professors and participants from different parts of the country which shall prove beneficial for research-oriented future initiatives.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Rakuten India Rakuten India conducted a Recruitment drive on the 12th of Sep'19 for the Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering students of 2020 outgoing batch. The recruitment process started with a Pre-placement talk followed by an online test. Mr. Niladri Halder-HR, Campus Relations, accompanied by Mr. Tarun Kumar, HR Executive, and Ms. Alka Kumar, HR were at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 368 students participated in the drive. The results are awaited.

Campus Recruitment Drive for MBAs – Frozen BottleCampus Recruitment Drive for MBAs – Frozen Bottle Mr. Vijayanand Kandasamy, the General Manager-HR and L&D and Ms. Poojitha from the L&D Department of Frozen Bottle was at the campus to hire MBAs of 2020 outgoing batch for the position of Area Manager. A total of 111 students registered for the drive. The results will be announced shortly.

Frozen Bottle, one of India's trendiest milkshake brand is on a run to build its own outlet army across the globe. Started off from Bengaluru, it is now in over 11 cities in India with 90 outlets and aims to open up over 200 outlets in the next 2 years.

This workshop not only helped to gain confidence while communicating to the masses but also in networking with people from Entertainment Industry. Students have effectively utilized their weekend to build their profile.

Two teams of first year engineering have won prizes in the Inter-collegiate Poster Presentation competition organized by Mental Health Nursing Department, Yenepoya Nursing College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) in commemoration of World Suicide Prevention day on the theme Shinning a light on Suicide Prevention. Ms Aanchal and Mr Dhanush S won the second prize and Ms Pooja K V Shekar and Ms Adithi V Shetty won the third prize. They competed against 20 teams to secure the prizes. Mr Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor, provided the students with the necessary guidance and conceptual understanding about the theme and also accompanied the students to the event.

Team Leader of AIESEC, Manipal visits Sahyadri Mr. Manan Shah, Team Leader - Expansions Outgoing Global Entrepreneur of AIESEC, Manipal had visited Sahyadri on 10th September’19. Motive of the visit was to develop leadership potential in students by exposing them to International Internship having to face cross-cultural environment challenges which not only helps them to develop their technical skills but also focus on personal growth.

AIESEC has identified Sahyadri as one of the Institutes for considerable University Relations to send students abroad for such exchanges and are looking forward for collaboration with the institution.

Dept. of Mechanical Engineering organized a Workshop on Accreditation for Faculty Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with KRACKiN Technologies, Bengaluru, organized a One-Day workshop on “Importance of Accreditation for Technical Education and Digitization” for the faculty of engineering colleges from Mangaluru region. Dr. Balasubramani R, NBA coordinator, NMAMIT, NITTE was one of the resource persons who gave a session on various steps involved in Outcome-based education accreditation process and Blooms Taxonomy in OBE context. Later, Mr. Ravi Purohit, KRACKiN Technologies, Bengaluru facilitated a session on simplifying the processes and documentation of accreditation procedure through Digitization.

IBM Regional Manager - Career Education visits Sahyadri

Director-Research attended First Annual Innovation Festival of MHRD at AICTE, Delhi Mr. Madhusudhana Rao R D, Regional Manager-Career Education, IBM visited Sahyadri. He initiated and proposed two certificate programs in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Data Science which is one of the latest upcoming future skills for the students of Sahyadri. He stressed on IBM- Watson one of the latest tool used in the area of AI and Data Science. After the session, he was taken around the campus to view Sahyadri’s initiatives. He appreciated the efforts of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman for all the student-centric measures initiated for the holistic development of the students. Mr. Madhusudhana was accompanied by Mr. Prem Kumar Shetty, Founder-Unnathi Career Academy; Mr. Adi Dhanraj Jogi and Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, The Business Development Officers at Unnathi Career Academy.

Third Session on Future Skills - AR/VR/MR and Social Mobile Sahyadri Future Skills - AR/VR/MR and Social Mobile organized its third session on Sep 7th’19. The session was engraved on the topic “Mobile Application Development”. The session was facilitated by trainers from DreamSoft Innovations along with Mr. Subramanya C, Mr. Rithesh, and Mr. Sujith D. As a hands-on experience, various mobile applications were developed by the attendees. The applications were developed using Thunkables and MIT App, inventor platform.

Student Counsellor conducted Awareness session on ‘Suicide Prevention’ In commemoration of World Suicide Prevention day, Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor conducted awareness session on Suicide Prevention for the First Engineering Student on 11th September’19. He explained about the various causes of suicide, factors influencing suicide, Risk factors and consequences of suicide. He encouraged the students to speak up and reach out for help in times of need and never to lose hope in life.
