69^th Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrated in the Campus

Sahyadri celebrated the 69th Karnataka Rajyotsava, honoring the formation of Karnataka and its vibrant cultural heritage on 1st Nov 2024.

Karnataka Rajyotsava, or Karnataka Formation Day, commemorates the state's establishment in 1956. This day is significant as it marks the unification of Kannada-speaking regions across South India, symbolizing Karnataka’s strength, culture, and rich linguistic heritage.

Mr. Jagannath Chowta, Trustee - Bhandary Foundation, briefed the role of regional language and culture in fostering unity and identity, encouraging everyone to live together in peace. His message was a reminder of the significance of harmonious co-existence, celebrating diversity, and promoting a sense of belonging.

Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal, spoke about the importance of Kannada language, and highlighted initiatives to introduce professional courses in Kannada, making higher education more accessible and fostering a deep connection with Karnataka’s linguistic roots.

Prof. Akshaya Kumari Shetty, Dept. of Humanities, spoke on the importance of celebrating Karnataka Rajyotsava and compered the program.

Mr. Devadas Hegde, Trustee - Bhandary Foundation, along with Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Vice-Principal, the Heads of Departments, and all teaching and non-teaching staff,participated in the celebration.

During the celebration, students sang the ‘Naada Geethe’ alongside a collection of well-known Kannada songs composed by renowned regional poets. Faculty and students then united to offer a floral tribute to Naada Maate, honoring the spirit and heritage of Karnataka.

Sahyadri Girls Volleyball team emerged Champions in VTU Mangaluru Division Volleyball Tournament held at AJIET, Mangaluru on 30th October, 2024. Ms. Thanvi J R, was awarded as Best All Rounder and Ms. Shreyanka G Naik, was awarded as Best Setter of the Tournament.
