Commemoration of Engineers Day at Sahyadri

Commemoration of Engineers Day was held at Sahyadri on 15th Sep, 2021 at 10:00 am. All the Heads of Department and faculty paid their respect to Bharat Ratna Sri Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya during his birth anniversary today. Dr. Manjappa S, Director-R&D, Consultancy, spoke about the principles and professional ethics that Sri M Visvesvaraya practiced in his life and motivated faculty to follow them in their life too. Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, spoke about the contribution of Engineers to the world. Prof. Hemanth Prabhu, HoD, Dept. of Civil Engineering, shared his views about Sir M Visvesvaraya and encouraged the faculty to work as a team and contribute to the development of the nation. Mr. Devadas Hegde, Trustee-Bhandary Foundation, HoDs and Section Heads, faculty from all departments paid their homage to Sir M Visvesvaraya on this occasion.

MBAs Kick-start a One-Month “Dalal Street Competition”, Virtual Trading Competition

Second Year MBAs Kick start a One-month long “Dalal Street Competition, a virtual stock trading and Portfolio Building competition organized by Vriddi, the Fintech Club at SCMS- PG, Dayananda Sagar University in collaboration with TRDR Inc. It is an opportunity for students to have hands on experience of stock trading and expertise in fundamental or technical analysis. Students are provided with a platform to trade in top 50 companies of BSE using virtual money of Rs. 5, 00,000. They will be assessed on the basis of best profit making Portfolio at the end of one month and top three participants will be provided with a cash price of Rs. 25,000 for first place, Rs. 15,000 for second place and Rs.10,000 for third. They will also be provided with Internship opportunity from TRDR Inc. It’s an initiative which will provide awareness on working of stock market and develop the investment skills among Students.

CSE Dept. Conducts a Two-Day Online Workshop on “Project Development using ARDUINO Board"

A Two-Day online workshop on "Project Development using ARDUINO Board" was organized by Prof. Kanmani and Prof. Babitha of the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering for fourth semester students during 13th to 14th Sep, 2021. The session was delivered by Mr. Prahaas, Director of Flashflow Technologies (OPC) Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru. More than 100 students attended the workshop and gained the knowledge on pursuing mini projects using Arduino Boards. The students also got practical exposure on the microcontroller board.

DG & IG Praveen Sood and International Head of Clubhouse Arathi Ramamurthy joins Dr. Prabhu in the Clubhouse session

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Principal Investigator of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics CoE at Sahyadri was invited for the Part 2 of the Club House session hosted by Editor in Chief of Vishwavani, Shri. Vishweshwar Bhat on Cyber Security.
The session was ranked No. 1 in the world with 5573 listeners, 66:22 mins average time, joined by many luminaries from many countries across the globe. DG & IG of Karnataka, Shri. Praveen Sood spoke about the best practices to be followed to browse the internet responsibly. He also mentioned, the Cyber Criminals are way ahead and use new arrows from their quiver to trick people, and we must be alert. Arathi Ramamurthy, Head of International at Clubhouse congratulated the Vishwavani Room for organizing this awareness session and agreed to extend support for future events.
Dr. Prabhu spoke about 15 real life incidents, important Cyber Laws in India, Best practices to preserve evidence, followed by 50+ Q&A by listeners. Dr. Prabhu again got the unique honor of having the news about this new record published in the front page of the newspaper. The part 3 of this series will be scheduled next month. An exclusive column of Cyber Security by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G on Vishwavani state edition of the newspaper will commence soon, to create awareness about Cyber Security. Adobe announces the Adobe Analytics Challenge open. AAC is a global competition for university students that continue to be a unique analytics-focused business case competition where students are given the opportunity to use Adobe’s industry leading analytics products and access to real-world data from leading organizations such as Major League Baseball, T Mobile, Starwood, Lenovo, Sony PlayStation, MGM Resort International and Nike. The competition is meant for students enrolled at any university for a full time academic program.
