Toastmaster International’s Fusion 2018, Joint Area Contest conducted at Sahyadri

The first ever Joint Area Contest, Fusion 2018 of Area F1 and F2, of Mangalore region of Toastmasters International was conducted on Sunday, 15th April 2018 at the Sahyadri campus. The finalists of the seven clubs of the two areas contested in both the Speech contest and the Table topics Contest. DTM M N Pai, CA, and Director of Achal Industries was the Contest Chair. DTM Dr Malini Hebbar and TM Savita Salian were the Chief Judges.

The contest was organised by Division Director, Sagnik Biswas from Infosys Toastmasters club, Mangalore and both the Area Directors Dr Molly Chaudhuri and Divyashree Gatti. It was well attended by Toastmasters and guests from Mangalore, Manipal and Bengaluru.

The next level contest - the Division level would be held at the Infosys auditorium in Mysore on 6th May 2018.

Dr S Ramakrishna Sharma honoured during National Seminar in BHU, Varanasi

Dr S Ramakrishna Sharma honoured during National Seminar in BHU, Varanasi Dr S Ramakrishna Sharma was invited to present a research paper on “Technology for Ayurveda: A Reappraisal of the Present Scenario”, during the Two-Day National Seminar in Benares Hindu University, Varanasi, organized by Department of Rachana Sharir, Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU. Many dignitaries appreciated interactions with Dr Sharma. Select eminent professors and researchers of Ayurveda were honoured by Prof. Dr. V K Shukla, the Director of Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU. Dr Sharma was honoured with Sankatamochan Hanuman memento, Silk Shawl and Certificate of Honour for his research activities in the field of Vedic Science. In 2015, Dr Sharma had won the first prize for best oral presentation (among 237 papers) during International Conference on Kundalini and Psychosomatic Disorders, held as a part of the Centenary Celebrations of BHU. He pointed out the potentials of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru which has initiatives like RDL in innovative pursuits of technology for Ayurveda with Language Appropriate Technology (Sanskrit) and Machine Learning. “The best from the past and the best from the present for Better Future” is a slogan echoed in his presentation.

First Year MBA Student pledged to donate all her Organs Ms. Rashmi Puranik of First Year MBA has pledge to donate all her organs. She has registered herself as a donor with the Government Nodel Organ donation Agency Jeevasarthakathe under the supervision and Guidance of Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor. Sahyadri is proud of her heroic gesture and applauds her decision.

Focus Academy for Career Enhancement
FACE is visiting Sahyadri to conduct the Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for the B.E/ B tech Engineering students of 2018 outgoing batch.

FACE started in Dec 2008, as an entrepreneurial venture based out of Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) by two IIM grads. They are in the business of employability skills development primarily focusing on Engineering and Management studies students. In 9 years, they have grown to 600+ associates with offices across the country and have trained more than 16,00,000 students across 2000+ institutions and organizations. Their clients include most of the top ranked engineering colleges across India including 20 out of 23 IITs.
