Dr.Vittal Prabhu, Penn State University, US visits Sahyadri Dr.Vittal Prabhu, Penn State University, US visits Sahyadri Dr.Vittal Prabhu, Professor, Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Director, Service Enterprise Engineering (SEE 360) an Initiative of Penn State University, United States of America, visited Sahyadri. He held an interactive session with the engineering and management students on the teaching learning process in the US. He explained as to how the students were able take up social issues, find solution through case studies and innovative methods. He explained as to how creativity is going to be the key differentiating factor while explaining the top skill sets required for workplace success by 2020.

Mr. Prabhu also interacted with the chairman and discussed about the collaborative work that our faculty and students can take up with the Penn State University. He visited in-house industries and appreciated the management efforts in embedding industry culture in the educational institution to make students industry ready.

Director of Research presents at DSIR, New Delhi for Recognition of Sahyadri as Scientific & Industrial Research Organization

Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director-Research & Consultancy was invited by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), New Delhi for a presentation on the Application for fresh recognition of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru as a Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) is a department of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

The project report was prepared by Dr. Rajesh Shetty and Dr. Ratish Ghatti of Mechanical Engineering Department under the guidance of Dr. S Manjappa, Director (R&D).

Sahyadri NSS Unit organizes Two Days Free Eye Check-up for Students and Staff Sahyadri NSS Unit organizes Two Days Free Eye Check-up for Students and Staff Sahyadri NSS Unit in association with Prasad Nethralaya, Mangalur conducted Two Days Free Eye Check-up camp for the Staff and Students of Sahyadri College. Vision test and free consultation by doctor & ophthalmologist were provided. More than 450 participants benefited from this camp.

Achievements of Sahyadri students at IIT Roorkee

Achievements of Sahyadri students at IIT Roorkee Team ‘Udam Clan’ of Sahyadri comprising of students from various engineering disciplines, participated in Technical Fest Cogizance 2019 held at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. This Fest saw the active participation of 23 students.

Cognizance is the largest technical fest in India that conducts 75+ events with over 30,000 participants. Dr. Kailasavadivoo Sivan, Chairperson – ISRO, presided over as chief guest and inaugurated the fest. Sahyadri students bagged 4th place in Event Poseidon, 5th place in Cyborg Break-In, and 10th place in Quadrone. They also participated in Productathon. The students also attended the World Quant Championship Workshop on learning how to build an ‘Alpha’.

The students who participated in the event were Anjana Hegade, Ananya P.J., Ashwitha, Ancita, Anusha, Ashitha, Deekshith, Dhanush Bangera, Jamsheedha, Kritika, Mayur Pai B.H., Neeraj, Neeharika, Poornima, Rahul Mogar, Shraddha, Shreya, Shreerekha, Sebastian, Shishir Alva, Tanuja and Yashas. The team was mentored by Basavarajeshwari Ambi(IS), Campus Ambassador IIT-Roorkee.

Smitha A.B. is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. She has 2.5 years of teaching experience. She pursued BE from Sridevi Institute of Technology and M.Tech in VLSI Design and embedded system from Sahyadri college of Engineering and Mnagement.

Mentees’ Details:
• Avyaktha Gowri K.R. is from Bantwal. She pursued her high school from Balavikas High School, Mani and PUC from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. Her hobbies are reading , listening to music, and playing games. She aspires to work in a core company.
• Shishir Shenoy V. is from Vittal. He pursued his high school from S.S.S.L.S.H.S., and PUC from S.S.S.L PU College, Alike. He aspires to become an IAS officer. His hobbies are playing badminton, skating, and solving Rubiks Cube. He has participated in VTU Athletic Meet. He is passionate about Badminton.
• Thrupthesh V. is from Surathkal. He pursued his high school from Holy Family English Medium School and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are photography, and collecting coins. He aspires to have a startup.
• Rajeev P.B. is from Davangere. He did his schooling from Malladihalli, Chitradurga and Diploma from Govt. Polytechnic Harapanahalli. He is interested in sports activities. He aspires to work for Infosys.
• Niranjan Reddy L. is from Bellary. He pursued his high school from Nalanda Vidyaniketana, and PUC from Nalanda PU College, Bellari. His hobbies are reading and photography. His aim is to become a world life photographer.
• Karthik M.S. is from Bantwal. He pursued his high school from St. Rita English Medium School and PUC from Vivekananda PU College. His hobbies are watching movies, listening to music, playing video games. His aspiration is to work for a Cadence company.
• Rakshith R. Banjan is from Surathkal. He pursued his high school from VEMS and PUC from Govindas PU College, Surathkal. His hobbies are playing cricket and footwal. He is interested in sports activities. He aspires to work for a core company.
