Director Research invited as resource person

Dr. C. Ranganathaiah , Director of Research, was invited as a resource person for the National Workshop held at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Manasagangotri, Mysore. It was sponsored by Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) Bangalore and STQIP-II, He addressed the young researchers and faculty members selected from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh on the topic ‘Fundamentals of nanodielectric materials and interfaces’.

Prof. Ranganathaiah gave a brief introduction to dielectrics and spoke on the evolution of nanodielectric. While dealing with Nanocomposites he provided the necessary mathematical basics of dielectrics highlighting the conventional theories and their limitations.The focus was on the experimentation in nanodielectrics, particularly polymer based nanodielectrics. Speaking about ‘What is that we understand from experimental data?’, he gave the wonderful aspects of experimentation and concentrated more on the areas the young researchers fail to pay attention as it is very much needed for a better understanding of the materials and how best they could be used in the end applications. Of the several aspects, he explained the role of Surface functionalization, Intra and intermolecular interactions, particle sizes etc. Few models for describing Nanocomposites were briefly outlined before concluding his talk.

Day 4: Train the Trainers program on Essentials of Soft Skills and Leadership

Mr. Arunkumar Khannur, Chairman & CEO, ISQT Process & Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd. addressed the faculty members of the college on “Essentials of Soft Skills and Leadership”. He dealt with the topics like ‘‘powerful principles of instructions’ and ‘Teaching Strategies’ - group discussion , role plays, games , presentation, quiz, brainstorming ,case studies concept mapping. He also spoke on ‘collaborative thinking and problem solving’ ‘the instructional objectives’ and active learning which enable the quality of teaching and learning and helps students to have enough opportunities to clarify questions and apply consolidated new knowledge.

Deeksha B with 84.33% has topped the Sahyadri College in Mechanical Engineering in the Semester VI Examination of 2013-14 held by VTU. Paurav P Shetty obtained the second position in the college with 77.77% while Shrimukhi G Shastry with 77.22 % stands third, bringing the overall percentage score of the department to 74%.

Pooja Naik with 79.22% has topped the Sahyadri College in Computer Science & Engineering in the Semester IV Examination of 2013-14 held by VTU. Lavanya K obtained the second position in the college with 78.22% while Jyothi Manju Gouda with 74.88% stands third, bringing the overall percentage score of the department to 67.9%.

MBA Faculty members represent college in National Seminar

Dr. Vishal Samartha, Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration has been invited as a resource person for the UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Emerging Trends and Challenges in Human Resources’ held at SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore.

Prof. Lokesh, Assistant Professor- SG and Mrs. Divya Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration attended the One Day UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Emerging Trends and Challenges in Human Resources’ held at SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore. Mr. Lokesh, Assistant Professor (S.G.) has also presented a research paper on ‘Leadership and Social Capital’.

The seminar was organized by SDM College in collaboration with National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Mangalore Chapter.
