Team ‘Alpha’ comes up with the Innovative Idea to Tackle Mismanagement and Dumping of Plastic Waste

Social Innovation Program for the First Year students emphasises on approaching a problem in a holistic manner ensuring that the students have different perspectives to better understand community issues. Empathy towards Social Causes trains To-be Engineers to connect to Social Issues and come up with viable and implementable solutions.
Team Alpha with members Shobith Mallya, Rohan, Anjani Singh, Melriya Sequeira, Sakshi Alva and Payal Suresh of section F, set out to tackle the issue of Mismanagement and dumping of Plastic Waste, during the course of the Social Innovation Program.
Seventy Five Percent of the total Global Waste is majorly Plastic, i.e. a whopping 6.2 Bn tonnes out of 8.3 Bn tonnes! The complete eradication of this life easing invention is impossible, given the demand. So, the team proposes better management and up-cycling of these materials.

Team Alpha came up with the idea of Polycycle after rigorous interviews and field visits during the program, where they introduced 3 different concepts to deal with piling plastic waste, bringing together Community Awareness, Collection Points and Up-cycling including the open sourced concept of Precious Plastic. They propagate the idea of Refusing, Rethinking and responsibly disposing Waste. The team has come up with the prototype and deployed a website for Polycycle.
These innovations are a gateway for the budding juniors to join our institution and explore a world of new possibilities.

MBA Dept. organises Global FDP on “Research in Social Science & Management Studies”

Dept. of Business Administration-MBA has kick-started the Global Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Research in Social Science & Management Studies”. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Rajesha S., Principal. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director – MBA in her Welcome note briefed about the significance of research for academicians.
Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Asst. Professor at Higher College of Technology, Abu Dhabi facilitated Day 1 of Global FDP on the topic “Scientific perspective in identification of viable research topics”. The session gave valuable insights into defining a problem statement. Dr. Bhushi quoted ‘Research should be the window to the outside world’. He stressed on the fact that research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think that nobody else has thought.
The session covered various topics that a researcher could take up on COVID-19. The participants were also made aware of the Do’s and Don’ts in selecting a research problem. The session was moderated by Dr. Azhar Shaheen S. Shaikh, FDP Coordinator. It was a very interesting session and received an overwhelming response from the participants.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Nextscm - Increff

Nextscm-Increff conducted Virtual Campus Recruitment Drive for the Engineering students from all branches of the 2020 outgoing batch. Nextscm-Increff is recruiting Technical Delivery Associate/Business Analyst and the Package offered is INR 6 LPA.
Increff was founded in August 2016 by former Myntra executives Rajul Jain (Senior Vice President of the supply chain), Anshuman Agarwal (Assistant Vice President of Project Management), and Romil Jain (who was previously with Trilogy and Computer Associates).
In just under two years, the company has grown to 55 employees, over 10 customers and two enterprise B2B products (IRIS & ASSURE). Further, the company now runs 4 fulfillment centers across India for its clients.

Dr. Chatrapathy K., Professor, Information Science & Engineering completed 5-Days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education’ organized by CREATES, IISER-Bhopal under the Scheme of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission Teachers & Teaching (PMMMNMTT) Scheme of MHRD-India.
The FDP was conducted by renowned Techno-educationist Dr. Yogesh Velankar assisted by Dr. Ambar Jain, IISER-Bhopal.
