Sahyadrians secure 2nd Runners-Up in IESA – Makeathon 2018 held in New Delhi

StartUp India Karnataka Yatra Boot Camp at Sahyadri StartUp India Karnataka Yatra Boot Camp at Sahyadri “IESA Makeathon" an India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) initiative to enable the maker community in India drive technology innovation, is the largest designing event in South Asia. A total of 20 teams were selected from 36-hour overnight design challenge that spanned across 5 cities. Mr. Nithin T from the fifth semester Electronics & Communications Engineering and Mr. Pradeep Kumar from the Dept of Electronics & Communications Engineering jointly with RDL participated at the Bengaluru selection round and won the Golden Ticket for the Finale.

At the finale that was held in New Delhi, this team was judged as the 2nd Runners-up. The prize included plaque, incubation opportunities, and other benefits. This event provided the opportunity to network with industry leaders and innovators that would enable Sahyadri to benchmark and rise to Global standards.

MBA students visit Deputy Commissioner’s office as a part of Real-Time Off–Text Book LearningMBA students visit Deputy Commissioner’s office as a part of Real-Time Off–Text Book Learning To give a practical real-time experience of the operations at the government and civil department, a total of 7 MBA students namely Mithun, Usha , Ashvija, Ashray Nayak, Gautham, Madhuri and Kavya, visited the District Deputy Commissioners Office to observe and interact with the officials and learn the operations of various Government departments and Civil bodies. The visit was organized with an objective to receive firsthand information about the critical departments that the students may need help in their day to day affair. As this essential information is rarely available in textbook, these visits give the students an opportunity to learn the transaction of the real world. The student will be visiting various government offices such as Taluk Office, City Corporation, Panchayat Office etc., once every week. These visits are planned and supervised by the Mentor of these students - Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor and Faculty of Humanities.

Student Counsellor invited as a resource person by Government Women’s Polytechnic College Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as a resource person by Government Women’s Polytechnic College in association with Sports and Youth Empowerment department and Directorate of Technical Education to address their Students on Self Awareness and Communication as a part of their educational session during their annual special NSS camp held at Government Higher Primary school, Pilar Mangaluru.

Aged 50, Dr. Vidyavathi is diligent, sincere and committed with a passion for teaching and research. She has done her PG, M.Phil and Ph.D in Economics from Bangalore University on regular course. She has 20 years of rich experience in research (excluding Ph.D) and 15 years of PG teaching experience. She has independently done two research projects. The first is the major research project - “Opportunities and Challenges for women in Information Technology Enabled Services Sector” funded by ICSSR, New Delhi. The second is a minor research project - “Group Entrepreneurship among women-A study of SKDRDP in Dakshina Kannada District” funded by UGC, SWRO Bengaluru. She is also the Principal Investigator for a Research Project “A study on Lapsation of Life Insurance Policies in India” funded by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. Presently, she works as a Professor and a Ph.D Guide (VTU) in the Dept of Business Administration.

• Nandeesh Hegde is from Kundapur. He has completed his graduation at PoornaPrajna College, Udupi. His hobbies are listening to music and playing cricket. He wishes to take Finance as his specialization and intends to be a Bank Manager.
• Manisha G is from Mangaluru. She has completed her graduation from Maps College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are drawing, learning new things and making friends. She wants to get into a Managerial position in a corporate organization.
• Sagar is from Chickmaglur. He has completed his degree In Sacred Heart College Madanthyar. His hobbies are Reading Books, Writing Articles & Compering . He wishes to get into a managerial position and lead a winning team.
• Bhagawandas is from Madanthyar. He has completed his BCOM degree in Sacred Heart College Madanthyar. His hobbies are gaining in-depth knowledge on Technical Stock Chart Analysis and Stock Market and also reading defence oriented articles. He wants to pursue his career in Business Analytics.
• Kajal is from Mangaluru. She has completed her B.Com degree at St Agnes College (Autonomous). Her hobbies are painting, travelling and so on. She wants to become a Bank Manager.
• Jenitha, has completed her B.Com degree at St Agnes College (Autonomous). Her hobbies are watching sports, and playing Badminton. She wants to pursue her career as a manager in an organization.
• Venezia has completed her B.B.M from Dr. NSAMFGC, Nitte, Karkala. Her hobbies are dancing and travelling. She wants to lead a team in a corporate organization.
• Prerana Sangam, is a B.Com graduate from Gogte College of Commerce, Belagavi. She enjoys cooking, talking, dancing and travelling to new places. She aspires to be a Financial Analyst.
• Harshith shetty, is a B.Com graduate from SDPT college Kateel. His hobbies are playing cricket, reading books and listening to music. He intends to join a reputed organization and grow as a Manager.
• Aishwarya has completed her BBM in SDM College Mangaluru. Her hobbies are playing Throw ball and Table Tennis. She is focussed towards procuring a job in a reputed organization and grow as a Leader.
