Civil Engineering Students & Team TRIGON carry out project at Government High School, Angaragundi

Civil Engineering students join hands with team "TRIGON" to execute an innovative project worth Rs. 30,000 at Government High School, Angaragundi. The project was funded by the NGO - Inchara Foundation. Project involved the construction of toilets which are economical, eco-friendly and easily repairable. It also involved the conversion of normal playground into a fun filled zone using scrap materials which are economical and recyclable. The team consisted of Alester from Mechanical Engineering; Shweta L.G, Jewin Maria DCunha and Vinson Daniel Almeida from Civil Engineering. Director of Inchara Foundation - Mr. Pritam Rodrigues had approached Dr. Premanand Shenoy and Prof. Sunil Kumar Rai, Dept. of Civil Engineering to seek help for this project. The project was assigned to students for execution and has now been successfully completed. Sahyadri is proud of the students’ achievement.

Mentor Details:
Prof. Ravichandra is currently working as Dean Industry Connect and Head-Department of Mechanical Engineering. Earlier, he worked as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at Nilai University, Malaysia. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Automobile Engineering from Kuvempu University and Master of Engineering in Manufacturing from University of Malaya, Malaysia. His PhD is from University Technology Malaysia on Low Carbon Emission Vehicles. He is an academician with fourteen years of teaching and four years of industrial experience. He is active in professional bodies like Institute of Engineers Malaysia, Society of Automotive Engineers, Indian Society for Technical Education and International Association of Engineers. His field of interests are Lithium Ion battery for heavy applications, Renewable Energy Sources, Sustainable Engineering and Computational Fluid Dynamics. He has vast exposure in teaching and learning skills, like application of Outcome Based Education, Blooms Taxonomy, Continuous Quality Improvement under the regulations of ABET and Washington Accord.

Mentee Details:
• Deekshith Kumar B is from Bantwal and did his 10th from SVS Temple English Medium School and PUC from Carmel Composite PU College, Modankap. His hobbies include Reading Quiz books, Cricket, Skit-Drama Acting. He is also interested in Quiz and participated in Taluk Level Quiz Competition. He has secured 3rd position in Canara Bank Quiz Competition at District level.
• Shashank R is from Hassan, however now his family has settled in Bengaluru. He did his 10th and PUC from Sharada Vidhya Nikethana Public School and Sharada Vidhya Nikethana PU Collge respectively. He is expert in Martial Arts (Taekwondo). He participated in International Championship in China and won the Bronze Medal. At International level in Delhi, he secured Silver Medal, and at National Level in Pune, he secured Silver Medal. He is also interested in Cultural activities like Skit–Drama. He has participated in VTU Cultural Fest and has won 1st place in skit and 2nd place in Drama.
• Pranam Shetty is from Pandeswar, Mangaluru. He did his 10th and PU studies from Presidency School, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing Cricket and Table Tennis.
• Vijith Rai is from Puttur. He did his 10th studies from Bethany English Medium High school and his PU from Ambika PU College, Puttur. His hobbies are playing Badminton (District Level) and Kho-Kho (Taluk level). He is also interested in Quiz.
• Abhishek is from Nalkuru, Udupi. He did his 10th from AVKF Govt High School and his PU studies from Amrutha Bharathi PU College. His hobbies are playing Cricket, Volleyball and Chess. He is also interested in Quiz and has been the Cluster Level Runner-up.
