Faculty invited as Guest at ProAct Toastmasters Club

Toastmasters Club is one of the vibrant clubs in Sahyadri. Ms. Calida Royce D'souza, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities who is currently the President of Sahyadri Toastmasters Club, was invited as a Guest at ProAct Toastmasters Club.

The Table Topic she got by picking a chit was ‘Tinkle’. Tinkle is one of the most loved comic for children. Ms. Calida highlighted on how Tinkle helps in improving one’s vocabulary. It also enriches to shape children’s lives by imparting moral values. Through her charisma and calibre she made her presence well accepted. She won the best Table Topic Speaker of the Day.

Toastmasters’ International tagline is "Where Leaders Are Made". Ms Calida Royce D’Souza has indeed outshined.

Department: Business Management
Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Akshatha P. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration. She has completed her graduation in B.Com from St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru and M.Com from Besant Women’s College. Her area of specialization is Finance. Her areas of interest include Accounting, Quantitative Techniques and Tax Management. She has an industry experience of 1 year and 6 months at Clutch Group, Bengaluru.

• Namrasha N. Ganiga is from Mangaluru. She completed her high school from St. Gerosa High School, Mangaluru, PUC from St. Agnes PU College and B.Com from Canara College, Mangaluru. She is interested in Sports – wrestling, athletics, karate, weightlifting and powerlifting. She has won several titles like;
• Second place in Karate International
• First place in Wushu, State Level
• Third place in weightlifting
• Second place in VTU Judo
• First place in Bike Dirt Track Race; and
• Second place in National Bike Dirt Track Race
She aspires to represent India in international events and bring glory to our country.

• Athmik D. is from Mani, Puttur and studied in Mani Primary School, Puttur. He completed his PUC in Karnataka PU College, Mani, Puttur. His hobbies include playing cricket, reading novels and watching debates. He aspires to get placed in a reputed company and is interested in finance specialisation.
• Dheeraj M. is from Kasaragod. He did his schooling in G.H.S.S, Angadimoger and PUC in Shri Gajanana PU College, Ishwaramangala. He completed his B.Com from Alvas College, Moodbidri. He has won several prizes in quiz competition and overall championship in Alvas Aura-Fest 2018. He won the title ‘Fresher of the Year–2018’ in Sahyadri. His hobbies include playing cricket, swimming, listening to music. He aspires to be a financial analyst and also has a dream of starting his own business venture in the near future.
• Josline Shallet Fernandes is from Uppinnagady. She studied high school in St. Mary’s High School, Uppinangady, PUC and Degree in Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar. She is interested in reading novels and listening to music. She has also actively taken part in NSS camps. She wants to specialize in finance and get placed in a reputed company as a financial analyst.
• Dhanraj is from Mangaluru. He has done schooling in Sri Narayan Guru, Kudroli and PUC in Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangaluru. He did his graduation in B.Com in Canara College, Mangaluru. He has actively participated in NSS camps. He is interested in finance and aspires to be a good manager in the near future.

Introduction of Mentor:
Prof. Naveen B. is an Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. He has pursued B.E., and M.Tech. in Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. He has 5.5 years of teaching experience which includes one year of research experience in IISc, Bengaluru. Currently he is pursuing part time Ph.D., at BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru. His research area includes Heat Pipes, CFD etc.

• Mohammed Atoof completed his schooling and PUC in Presidency School, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing football and swimming. He loves to watch movies during free time. He aspires to be a successful mechanical engineer.
• Prabhu Suresh Yadappaanavar completed schooling in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Solapur, Maharashtra. He then completed his Pre University education in Expert PU College, Valachil, Mangaluru. His hobby is to play Table Tennis and surfing the YouTube. During his free time, he reads novels and watches TV shows. He has a lot of interest in the field of Aerospace. He aspires to be a pilot or work for ISRO and HAL.
• Jansty Lewis completed schooling in Holy Rosary English Medium School, Kundapura. After that he did his PUC in St. Mary's Composite PU College, Kundapura. Playing cricket is his hobby; story writing and singing his favourite pastime. He aspires to become an entrepreneur.
• Basil Baiju completed his schooling and college from Delhi Public School, Kuwait. He is interested in stuff like traveling and aeromodelling. Prof. Rajatha is Assistant Professor of Information Science & Engineering department. She has pursued her B.E degree in Information Science and Engineering from Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru and M.Tech Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Shree Devi Institute of Technology and Management, Mangaluru. Prof. Praahas Amin has been working in the Department of Information Science & Engineering since 2016. His area of expertise is in embedded systems and machine learning. He is currently pursuing Ph.D in the Department of Electronics at Mangalore University and has completed his Masters’ Degree in Embedded Systems from Manipal University.

• Sriraksha Nayak is from Kalladka. She did her schooling in Balavikas English Medium School, Mani and PUC in Vivekananda Pre-University College, Puttur. Her hobbies include listening to music and reading books. She likes watching YouTube to keep updated with world affairs.
