Parents Interaction Programme for MBAs

The new batch of MBAs (YR 2018-2020) along with their Parents attended the “Parents Interaction Programme” at Sahyadri. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman along with Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Director-Strategic Planning; Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal & Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA addressed the gathering.

Mr. Bhandary, in his talk clarified at the beginning itself that it was not an Orientation programme but an Interaction Programme with two-way communication. He also gave the background of why this programme was held and said that “We have been receiving feedback from both Students and their Parents in the past that the ‘Beyond Academics’ activities planned by the institution should be communicated in advance”. He stressed on the point that MBA Recruiting firms have become more demanding and has certain expectations. Accordingly, the ‘Beyond Academics’ activities are planned and executed to meet their requirement. Similarly, Sahyadri too has certain expectations from the Parents and their wards. He asked the parents to share their responsibilities with their children – Step Back and ask them to lead the house. He shared the need to INVEST on additional activities like Certification Courses, Industrial Visits, Internships, Academic & Geographical Exposure and so on since Academic Certificate is only the Passport and these additional activities become the VISA for success in the current scenario on jobs. He also stressed on the fact that companies, now need multi-skilled candidates. He was stern when he cascaded how Sahyadri focuses on Discipline to the maximum in order to contribute good citizens to the country.

Dr. Umesh M Bhushi while addressing the gathering encouraged students to pursue case studies of people and situations in and around them as they are not available in book but in life. He urged students to nurture professionalism & quoted few anecdotes. He stimulated the students to bring back the child in them as the child is full of energy and skills.

Dr. Vishal Samartha presented the Value Additions planned for the next two years in the course curriculum. Current 2nd year MBA students volunteered to share their experiences at Sahyadri and the opportunities they have capitalized on in the last one year.

Delegate from NASSCOM visits Sahyadri

Ms. Moneesha Shrivastav, Regional Lead - Karnataka, NASSCOM visited Sahyadri and interacted with Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and explored opportunity on collaborating with the institute on launching several programmes catering to the Engineering and Management domain. Ms. Moneesha also had an interaction with the parents during the 'Parents Interaction Programme' organized by Dept. of Business Administration for the new batch of MBA students. She mentioned how important it is to network these days on Social Networking sites, LinkedIn and so on. She mentioned that the Future Jobs are in Data Analytics and students should groom themselves to meet the expectation. She also highlighted that industries now need ‘Ready Fits’ from the Day One of job.

Further, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Director-Strategic Planning, Department HODs and representatives from the in-house industries & Start-Ups of Sahyadri also shared their experiences and interacted with Ms. Moneesha on the lines of identifying the courses that can be offered and certified through NASSCOM, Govt of India and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Pool Campus Recruitment Drive - Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt Ltd

Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt Ltd. conducted a Placement Drive for the Mechanical Engineering students of 2018 passed out batch. Mr. S M Sunder, Chief Executive Officer; Mr. Natarajan, QA/Training Manager & Prof. Abhishek K, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering from the recruitment team facilitated the entire process. A total of 24 students attended the drive, out of which, 11 students were selected.
