Cricket unites people of all religions –
Mr. Moideen Bava

Mr. Moideen Bava, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Surathkal, Mangalore, inaugurated the four-day inter-collegiate cricket tournament for UG students organized by the Sahyadri Premier League (SPL) at the Sahyadri Campus. Around thirty-two teams from different parts of Karnataka are participating in this tournament.

Mr. Bava illustrated with examples how cricket can unite people of all religions and develop peace and harmony among people in a society. He appealed to young men and women to unite together to work towards the betterment of the society. India, being the youngest nation in the world, can be a superpower within the next five years, if youngsters of our country unite together by forgetting difference of caste, religion and language. Mr. Moideen Bava also emphasized the need for cricket lovers of Mangalore to practice overarm bowling rather than underarm bowling which is very popular in the district. He also expressed his happiness that students have formed the SPL as a student enterprise to tap the interest of the youth in cricket and to promote sports and games among men and women.

Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, presided over the inaugural function and Dr. Ananthapadhmanabha Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration, provided an overview of the Sahyadri Premier League. Mr. Manish Gatti, Chairman, SPL, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Boris Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
