Prof. S. Manjappa Presents
Paper in International
Conference

A paper entitled “Physiochemical Investigation of Pre-Hydrolysis Liquor” by Prof. S. Manjappa, Director, R&D and consultancy, was presented in the First International Conference on ‘Recent Advances in Bio-energy Research’ (ICRABR-2015) at the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy (SSS-NIRE), Kapurthala, India. SSS-NIRE is an autonomous R&D Institution of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. The objective of the Conference is to disseminate the knowledge about the recent advancement in bioenergy research. Earlier, three national conferences were consecutively organized since 2011 on ‘Recent Advances in Bioenergy Research’ at the Institute which had captured Government policies, field experiences and R&D efforts in the development and promotion of bioenergy in India. The Conference was attended by many internationally and nationally reputed scientists.

Ms. Savita Narasimha Bhat has joined the Department of Mathematics as an Assistant Professor. She obtained her B.Sc. degree and Masters in Science in Mathematics from Mangalore University. Her area of specialisation is in Pure Mathematics.

Sahyadrians Win in `Sentia’

In the State Level Inter-collegiate Cultural, Technical and Management Fest "Sentia" held at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering, Moodbidri, Sheetal P. N. Semester VIII, Department of Computer Science & Engineering secured the Second place in the Technical Paper PresentationCompetition. Veer Jain, Semester VIII, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Sheetal P.N. have also secured the Second place in the English Debate Competition.

ACCE Mangalore Centre Celebrates
Engineer’s Week-2015 in Sahyadri

The Association of Consulting Civil Engineer’s (ACCE) Mangalore Centre, organised technical talks on the occasion of Engineer’s Week 2015 for the students of Civil Engineering. The guest speakers were Dr. H. C. Chinnagiri Gowda and Dr. M. K. Nagaraj.

Dr. H. C. Chinnagiri Gowda spoke on the topic “Earthquake Engineering” and Dr. M. K. Nagaraj gave a talk on “Systems Approach in Infrastructure Development.”

Er. Prem Salian, Convener of Engineer’s week, Er. Naveen Kumar, Member of ACCE and Er. Mahendra Kumar, Selection Grade Lecturer, Faculty of Civil Engineering Department, KPT, Mangalore were present.

HoD Prof. Umesh S. S. and all the faculty members and students of the Department of Civil Engineering, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management were present on this occasion.

Tomorrow at Sahyadri

Sahyadri College of Nursing will celebrate its Graduation Day-2015 at 10:30 A. M. in the Auditorium. Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore, will be the Chief Guest. Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, President, Bhandary Foundation, will preside over the function.

The Department of Training will hold the final rounds for Akhyana-2015: The Communication Fest. The winners in the preliminary rounds of the Pick and Speak, Debate, Turncoat, Mad Ads, and Picture Description Competitions held last week will compete in the finals. The inaugural function will be held at 09:30 A. M. in the Seminar Hall, first floor. Mr. Ram Mohan Pai Maroor, Vice-President, Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangalore and Director, Maroor Group will be the Chief Guest.

The Valedictory and the inaugural of Oratocrats Gavel Club will be held at 12:00 noon in the Seminar Hall, first floor. CA. M. N. Pai, Director, Achal Cashews Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru and Lieutenant Governor Marketing, Toastmasters International will be the Chief Guest.

A spiritual discourse on `Self-Realisation’ by Poojya Gurumaata Amma will be held in the Seminar Hall, ground floor for non-teaching staff from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. and for teaching staff from 02:00 P. M. to 04:00 P.M.
