Faculty Members Paper Published in JIDPS Special Issue


A research paper entitled "Computer Aided Diagnosis for Early Skin Cancer Detection" by Professors Ananth Prabhu G, Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering has been published in the Journal of Integrated Design and Process Science (JIDPS) which is Special issue on Design of Health Information Systems. JIDPS is indexed in Academic Source Complete, ACM Digital Library, Compendex, CPX, EBSCO databases, Google Scholar, Science & Technology Collection, Scopus, Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, Web of Science: Emerging Sources Citation Index.

Recent research shows that there is a critical need to develop a system to prevent melanoma cancer. Melanoma cancer cells have uneven border shapes, angular edges and also colour variations are found in these types of cells. To detect melanoma in its early stage, cell colour, its shape and texture on the surface of the skin need to be studied extensively. In this paper the authors have developed two Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) techniques colour constancy and skin lesion analysis for early skin cancer detection, these techniques are validated on EDRA database and PH2 database

Sahyadri Boys’ Volleyball team win runners-up trophy

The Sahyadri Boys’ Volleyball team won the runners-up trophy in the VTU Inter- Zone Volleyball Tournament held at JNNCE, Shimoga. Suraj K.S. Naik was the captain and Deekshith Shetty, Savan Shetty, Ujwal, Keerthi Shetty, Mohammed Ashiq Aseel, Dekshith M., Rummana Ahmed, Rahul Shetty, Manish, Sathyajith Prabhu and Bharat were part of the team.

Sahyadri Boys’ & Girls’ Team Runners-up in Cross-Country Competition

The Sahyadri Girls’ Cross-Country team won the runners-up Trophy and the Boys’ team won the first runners-up trophy in the VTU Inter-Zone Cross-Country Competition held at Dr. TT Institute of Technology, Kolar .

Sushma Shetty, Manjushree Bhandary, Swathi Gowda, Anusha Hegde, Vidya Ganiga, and Jayalakshmi Shekharan C made up the girls’ team and Sannidhi Shetty, Shashwath M.R., Sandeepa Prabhu, Sarvesh Martha, Rakshith Raj, Ankit Prathap Singh, Sachin Kumar P.K., Nishwin Pal and Mohammad Irfan were in the boys’ team.

Team HAWK Lands in the USA

Team HAWK have landed in the USA and are all set for the aero design competition at Texas.

The SAE Aero Design - East competition will be held in Fort worth, Texas, USA from 11-13 March 2016 and is conducted by NASA and Lockheed Martin. Team HAWK is one among the two teams from Karnataka, with 75 teams from around the world participating in the SAE International Aero Design – East. Team HAWK members Mohammad Anwar, Tharanath, Gouse Khan M S, Midhun Jyothis, Gerald K Antony, Rajgokul Ganiga P S, Nitin S Prakash, Probid J and Amrutha Khandare will present their aero design model at the competition.

Department of Mechanical Engineering Sponsors Team FORMULA SAHYADRI

Faculty members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are the “Gold Sponsors” for Team FORMULA SAHYADRI with Rs. 50000/-. Team FORMULA SAHYADRI will be participating in the national level event “SAE SUPRA 2016” to be held at Buddh International Circuit, Noida, U.P., in July 2016. Prof. Mahesh B Davanageri, HoD of the department handed over the cheque to the team leader Jerin David Varghese in the presence of Dr. U M Bhushi, Principal, Prof. S. S. Balakrishna, Vice Principal and other faculty members.

The team FORMULA SAHYADRI, with 25 team members are designing, fabricating and developing a student version of a Formula 1 car (Prototype of F1 car). This event deals with design, manufacture, management, communication, research and marketing. SAE SUPRA is highly sought-after across the engineering mobility industry.

Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering with their project titled “Efficient Resource Utilization in Hadoop on Virtual Machines with Dynamic Allocation”.

Cloud 20/20 Version 7.0 is India’s biggest online technical project contest which gives the platform to showcase student’s innovative and path-breaking technical ideas and take them to the next level. Through Cloud 20/20 Version 7.0, Unisys aspires to reach out to the leading engineering campus all over in India and discover the finest technical talent.

Staff Members Attend International Conference on “Human Rights Education for Social Practice”

Molly S Chaudhuri, Shreelatha U. A., Pooja Yashwanth Rai, Varsha and Marie Fernandes attended a two-day international conference on “Human Rights Education for Social Practice” at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore. The main theme of this conference was to integrate the global principles of human rights in social work, medical, nursing, management and legal practice. Sahyadri was one of the sponsors for this event.
