Sahyadrians win at Rural India Business Conclave and Agritech Hackathon organized by ICAR-CPCRI, Kasargod, Kerala
Dhanush Shettigar, Harshith Kumar, Pushparaj A, and Ramkishor K, interns at DTIlabz and students of Electronics & Communication Engineering, participated in Rural India Business Conclave and Agritech Hackathon organized by ICAR- Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Kasargod along with Kerala Startup Mission held during 29th Feb to 1st March’2020 at CPCRI, Kasargod, Kerala.
The team won the First Place – Cash Prize of Rs.50000/-.
The two days Hackathon was mainly focused on solving the problems in the agriculture sector. The challenge was to provide irrigation to each component crop in the required ratio. The IOT solution developed by the students is applicable for the existing system and it can also provide water for the entire field as per crop requirement and time. With internet-enabled, it also makes the system completely automated and the monitoring could be done using a mobile application.
The participants also proposed a solution to find the percentage of nutrients present in the agriculture land using a portable device.

Caliper is awarded with Defence Product Manufacturing
Caliper is an in-house startup manufacturing precision products and assemblies. In line with their capability, Caliper has received an order by Ordnance Factory from Chennai to manufacture a complete product to be fitted into Indian Army Battle Tank T-90.
Incidentally, this product to be produced by Caliper under “Make in India” program is also a substitute to import. The Product is expected to be released within 2020.
Ordnance Factory Board an Arms industry company, consisting of the Indian Ordnance Factories, is an industrial organisation, functioning under the Department of Defence Production of Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Inauguration of VTU Mangaluru Zone Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament 2020 held at Sahyadri Riverside Ground
VTU Mangaluru Zone Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament 2020 is held at Sahyadri Riverside Ground during 4th to 20th March’2020. Seventeen teams from various colleges of Mangaluru Zone are participating in this Tournament.
The Inaugural was held on 4th March’2020. Dr. Rajesh S, Dean-Academics inaugurated the Tournament. In his inaugural speech he welcomed the teams and motivated them to play with enthusiasm. Speaking about the importance of sports he said it contributes towards the mental and intellectual growth. Hence, equal importance should be given to sports and academics, he said.
Dr. Rajesh wished the teams All the Very Best. Mr. Devadas Hegde, Trustee-Bhandary Foundation was present.
The inaugural match was played between Canara College of Engineering and Srinivas Institute of Technology. The Srinivas team won by 3 wickets.

A total of 46 students took up the test and the results are awaited.

Cohesity
Cohesity conducted an Online Assessment at Sahyadri as part of their Recruitment process on 4th March’2020, for the Computer Science and Information Science Engineering students of 2020 outgoing Batch. A total of 49 students participated in the online test. Around 22 students were shortlisted. The interviews will be conducted for the shortlisted students on 6th March 2020.
