ISE Student Recruited by Adobe Systems with a package of Rs. 27.7 Lakhs Per Annum

Ms. B. Rachitha, student of Information Science & Engineering from the 2020 outgoing batch was recruited by Adobe Shecodes for the position of Software Engineer with a package of Rs. 27.7 Lakhs per Annum.
The final interview was held at Bengaluru on 5th March’2020. Ms. Rachitha also got placed in 4 other companies - ITC Infotech, Infosys, TCS & SLK Software.

Faculty Members visit St. John’s Medical College and Research Center to Foster Research Collaborations

Dr. Shreyas Rao, Associate Professor & Dr. Srinath M, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering visited St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences on 12th March’2020.
The purpose of the visit is to foster Research Collaborations in terms of Proposal Writing, Publications, and Consultancy Opportunities. They interacted with the Faculty members from the Dept. of Community Medicine and Dept. of Medical Informatics & Innovations.
Dr. Deepthi Shanbhag, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Community Medicine at St John’s Medical College spoke on the immediate need to create a “Livelihood for the Disabled” and stressed that it is an open area of research which is not yet fully explored by Indian researchers. She stressed on the need to innovate quality products with reference to mental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy that limit the individual from undertaking regular activities.
Dr. Shanbhag was happy to learn about the various innovative activities conducted at Sahyadri and committed to collaborate with Sahyadri and take the relationship forward in exploring potential solutions pertaining to her research area.
Dr. Abijeet V Waghmare, Manager and Dr. Dhinagaran, Senior Researcher - Medical Informatics and Innovations Dept. at St. Johns Research Institute, apprised on the several innovations conducted at their Center such as:
• “E-Punarchetana” an EMR Automation System;
• “CHITRA” a Mobile App that monitors the quality of ICU patients;
• Patches for cardiac patients that monitors the heart etc.
They sought Sahyadri’s help in the areas of flexible and wearable electronics, relating to healthcare. Sahyadri has assured that they would connect them to the relevant in-house company at Sahyadri that works on flexible electronics to take the relationship forward. The faculty members also promised to showcase Sahyadri’s product innovation capabilities in the next meeting.
Overall, the visit to St. Johns Medical College and Research Center opened up new research possibilities to collaboratively work in the areas of Community Healthcare, Disability, and Medical Informatics. Ms. Sandhya, a Research Scholar at St. Johns’ and a relative of Dr. Shreyas facilitated the interaction.

Dept. of Business Administration-MBA has received 05 Student Projects Grants from KSCST, Govt. of Karnataka. Every year Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) conducts the Student Project Programme (SPP) for providing financial and academic support to the Final Year students of B.E, M.Tech, M.Sc and MBA in Karnataka State.

Dept. of ISE organized a Workshop on “Big Data Analytics using Hadoop”

A Workshop on "Big Data Analytics using Hadoop" was organized by the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering in association with Students’ Technical Association of Information Science & Engineering - STAISE, Indian Society for Technical Education – ISTE, and Institution of Engineers (India) - IEI.
The Resource Person for the Workshop was Mr. Manjunath Mulimani, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science, MIT Manipal, Karnataka. He gave an introduction to Big Data Analytics and conducted hands-on session on “MapReduce Programming for Big Data Analytics using Python”.
Prof. Mulimani discussed topics such as MapReduce and Data Transformation, MapReduce Programming Model, Workflow of MapReduce, Running MapReduce Job and Hadoop versions.

Prof. Sushma V is teaching in the MBA Dept. for the last 7 years, prior to which she worked for 10 years at Mphasis Pvt Ltd in various roles like HR Recruiter, Workforce Manager, Soft Skills Trainer, Process Coach, Unit Manager, Quality Manager and Operations Manager.
Prof. Sushma has done her M.COM, PGDIM, PGDHRM and currently pursuing her PhD from VTU, Belagavi. She has also cleared the UGC-KSET. Her area of specialization is Human Resource Management and has been constantly upgrading her skills on "HR Analytics". She is also the Chief Editor of Sahyadri Daily, Weekly and Monthly Buzz. She is the Founder & CEO of “Sahyadri HR Solutions LLP”, the second startup of the MBA Dept. Her research proposal has recently received a Grant from ICSSR, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and her company was Runner-Up in Elevate Call2 (FY2019-20), a competition for the Start-Ups.
