Sahyadri Team Emerges as Champions for the 7th time in VTU 22nd Inter-Collegiate Athletic Competition Sahyadri Athletic Team emerged as Overall Champions with 87 points for the 7th time at VTU Inter Collegiate Athletic competition held at GNDEC, Bidar during 22nd to 25th Nov’19, and at SJCIT, Chikballapur during 23rd to 24th Nov’19.

March Past Team won 2nd place. Manisha A. of 4th Year Information Science & Engineering was awarded Best Athlete in the Women’s section.

Vice President & Head, Nuclear & Special Bridges, L&T visits Sahyadri

Vice President & Head, Nuclear & Special Bridges, L&T visits Sahyadri Mr. P Niranjana, Vice-President & Head, Nuclear & Special Bridges, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited, Chennai visited Sahyadri. He interacted with the Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and visited all the start-ups and in house companies. He appreciated the efforts put by the management, staff and students in connecting the academics with the industries. He stated that this is an unique approach towards bridging the gap between academia and industry, which is not observed in some of the best institutions in the country.

Mr. Niranjana has worked with L&T for almost 31 years and has handled some of the major projects like Nuclear Power Plant and large bridges. He has also invited the chairman to visit L&T plant at Chennai.

GamerConnect Express held at Sahyadri

GamerConnect Express held at SahyadriGamerConnect Express held at Sahyadri Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in association with MHRDs Institute Innovation Council (IIC), Research and Design Lab (RDL), Dream Soft innovations (DSI), DTLabz and Sahyadri Open Source Community (SOSC) conducted GamerConnect Express in the campus on 23rd Nov’19.

Students from various schools and colleges and also expert Gamers in and around the Mangaluru-Udupi region, participated in this event. Participants enjoyed the Hands-On GamerConnect experience in an action-packed Lan Party format with hundreds of other games from Mangaluru.

Gamers got to experience the latest devices from Dell, Alienware, ZotacGaming all showcasing games running on the latest NVIDIA GTX and RTX Graphics Cards. Tournaments were held where gamers competed in games like Rainbow Six Siege, CSgo, Mortal Kombat 11, FIFA 19, and many more and won exciting prizes. As a part of the Sahyadri Centre of Excellence for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Dreamsoft Innovations Private Limited had exhibited the latest VR technologies, including HTC Vive and Oculus Quest. Students had an opportunity to interact and experience various games in the virtual world.

Talk by Chief Mortgage Officer at RateSavers.com.au in Australia, for MBAs Talk by Chief Mortgage Officer at RateSavers.com.au in Australia, for MBAs Early this year, Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA visited Australia to seek Academic collaborations with the Australian Universities. During her travel, she also met Mr. Niaz Cannoth, the Chief Mortgage Officer at RateSavers.com.au in Australia who was the first batch student in her Teaching career. Niaz has done his Post Graduation in Information Technology at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Masters of Business Administration in Operations & Strategic E-Business Marketing at University of Technology, Sydney. With this education background and contacts in the Australian Universities, Mr. Niaz was supportive in chalking out plans on way forward to collaborate with Australian Universities.

On invite, he visited Sahyadri on 23rd Nov’19 and addressed the 1st and 2nd year MBA students and also had a discussion with the faculty team of MBA on academic collaborations with his Alma mater in Australia and other opportunities available for Student & Faculty exchange as well as collaborative Research. While speaking to the students, Niaz stressed on Challenges and how one should develop their Brain/Behaviour to overcome the challenges. He shared inspiring anecdotes of his journey from Mangaluru to Australia. He emphasized on how his education background gave a framework to whatever he pursued as a career. He is an expert in E-Commerce and has assured continued support on E-Commerce related aspects. He stimulated students to take up entrepreneurship and mentioned how a Team of competent partners reduced the output of his finances. He concluded his talk by stating that every individual should reward themselves when they achieve something, take a break/travel and then come back and start the next assignment.

Fifth Session on Future Skills - AR/VR/MR and Social Mobile

Fifth Session on Future Skills - AR/VR/MR and Social Mobile Sahyadri Future Skills - AR/VR/MR and Social Mobile organized its fifth session on 22nd Nov’19. The main agenda was to introduce the audience to a tool called Unity and to give a practical experience on how an Augmented Reality could be built without the knowledge of coding. The session was facilitated by trainer from DSI - Mr. Subramanya C.

Student Counsellor invited as Resource Person for NSS Special CampStudent Counsellor invited as Resource Person for NSS Special Camp Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as Resource Person for the NSS Annual Special Camp on 24th Nov’19, at St Joseph Higher Primary School, Nainadu, Bantwal. The Camp was organized by Padua College of Commerce & Management, Mangaluru for their 90 NSS volunteers. He conducted a session on the topic “Yoga and Health”.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Prof. Vaishak NL, is working in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the past 10 years. He joined as a lecturer and rose to the position of assistant professor by his hard work and dedication. Prior to this, he was working as Quality Control Engineer and Maintenance Engineer in the Mechanical Industry. He is presently pursuing his research in the field of Metal Forming under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.

Mentees’ Details:
• Pratheek Bekal is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Milagres High School and PUC from St. Aloysius Mangalore. He is a good team player. His aspiration is to serve in the Indian Defense.
• Sanjan S Prabhu is from Mangaluru. He has pursued his schooling from Vidyadayini High School PUC from Canara PU College, Mangaluru. He is a good sportsman. He is interested in Automation and Design. His aspiration is to work for Bosch, Adobe, and Airbus.
• Sannidhi Bhat is from Udupi. He has pursued his schooling from BM Parkula and PUC from Vidyodaya, Udupi. He is a good leader, listener and is punctual by nature. He wants to serve in Design or Automobile based company.
• Rashmitha Shetty is from Bengaluru. She has pursued her schooling from Sharada Vidyanikethana and PUC from Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. She is a good dancer, sportswoman. She possesses good leadership quality. Her aspiration is to serve in good mechanical company and become a quality mechanical engineer.
• Shravya Neha is from Mangaluru. She has pursued her schooling from St. Theresa High School and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. She is a good speaker, and Team player. Her dream is to join Indian Air force and serve the nation.
