Engineering student wins Youth for SDG Award, in the event at Hyderabad

Engineering student wins Youth for SDG Award, in the event at Hyderabad Mr. Nishanth Gowda, a student of First Year Electronics & Communication Engineering participated in an Event ‘Youth for SDG - Sustainable Development Goals’ from 2-8 Nov’19 at Hyderabad, in collaboration with United Nation Development Program (UNDP). Mr. Sunil Kumar of 4th Year Computer Science Engineering was the mentor.

The above project had won an award in SSTH - 2017 and Mr. Nishanth had represented Sharada PU College, then. And now, he has won the Youth for SDG Award, and the same project is selected by NAIN for further development.

Mr. Nishanth is entitled to get an internship in Netherlands for 6 months, which will be sponsored by investors from Citi, UNDP. Upon completion of the project, as a product it will be launched by the United Nations.

As a SSTH winner Mr. Nishanth chose Sahyadri to pursue his dreams to come true. The seed sown 5 years ago to promote innovations in the region has begun to show fruitfulness in abundance.

Introduction of the Mentor

Ms. Vanishree B S is currently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Computer Science & engineering. She completed her M.Tech (CSE) and BE (CSE) from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). She is having teaching experience of 3.5 years. Her areas of interest include Cyber Security, Computer Networks and IOT. She has published various research articles in reputed journals. She is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and Computer Society of India (CSI).

Introduction of Mentees:
• Vikram P S is from Bantwal. He pursued his high school from SVS Temple English Medium School and PUC from SVS PU College, Bantwal. His hobbies are playing chess, listening to music and designing web pages. His aspiration is to work in a reputed company as R&D Engineer.
• Shettigar Sarvani Vasudeva is from Brahmavar. She pursued her high school from G M Vidyaniketan Public School and PUC from Poorna Prajna Pre-University College, Udupi. Her hobbies include drawing and painting. She aspires to become an ethical hacker.
• Khushi K Rai is from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from Mount Carmel Central School and PUC from St. Agnes Pre-University College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are writing articles and painting. Her dream is to become a successful entrepreneur.
• Sandhya Ramesh Naik is from Kumta. She pursued her high school from Gibb Girl’s High School, Kumta and PUC from Dr. AV Baliga Arts & Science PU College, Kumta. Her hobbies are reading books and playing shuttle badminton. She aspires to become a software engineer and good human being.
• K R Sinchana is from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from Lourdes Central School and PUC from Expert PU College, Mangaaluru. She likes to spend her free time painting, listening songs. Her ambition is to work for a reputed MNC.
• Melriya Carrol Sequeira is from Bantwal. She pursued her high school from Loretto English Medium High School, Bantwal and PUC from St. Agnes PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include dancing, cooking and writing short quotes. She desires to become R&D engineer at a reputed company.
• Payal Suresh is from Udupi. She pursued her high school from St. Michael's Convent High School, Karwar and PUC from Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. She is good at dancing and singing. She desires to become a software engineer in a reputed company.
