“Dus Saal Ke Baad”, an Alumni Meet organized by the MBA Department

Alumni are the ambassadors of an institution and have responsibility towards academic and research oriented initiatives of their alma mater. The department organizes Alumni Meet every year to bring back the alumni to the campus, spend quality time with the faculty, view the growth of the institution in person, keep abreast of the progress the institution is making in terms of quality of education it is imparting and contribute to the continuous improvement of the institution wherever possible.

A get-together of Sahyadri MBA alumni was held on 5th Oct’19. The Mega event began with a formal programme. Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning welcomed the gathering and Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA addressed the alumni, highlighting the latest developments and initiatives of the department. Mr. Roopesh Salian, the Chief Guest of the occasion is an alumnus from the 1st batch of Sahyadri MBA. Currently, he is a Senior Business Process Improvement Analyst at Northern Trust. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal re-iterated the role, an alumni plays in the overall development of the institution.

The formal programme was followed by Cultural performances by Alumni, current MBA students and faculty. Games were organized and prizes were distributed. The programme concluded with alumni sharing their experiences and memories as students at Sahyadri and finally got onto the dance floor followed by a Gala Dinner.

Appointment of Institute Centre Manager for Sahyadri NAIN Centre

Mr. Ashwin Shetty has joined Sahyadri and takes charge as the Institute Centre Manager of the NAIN Centre effective 10th Oct’19.

Brief Profile of Mr. Ashwin Shetty:
• A globetrotter, social worker, educationist and a gentleman farmer who has worked in 8 different countries for over 14 years
• Master of Engineering from The University of Queensland, Brisbane Australia
• MBA in Project Management sponsored by AIRBUS
• Worked for Airbus Military division as a Technical Manager in France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Australia and China
• Before Airbus, he worked as a Project Manager for Road Bridges, Australia and was an engineer to the Australian Submarine Corporation
• After 14 years overseas, quit his lucrative job at Airbus to pay back to the nation - Currently the Administrator of a non-profit rural school called Vidyarashmi Group of Institutions, Savanoor
• Director at Adarsha Co-operative Society
• Looks after Arecanut, Rubber and Coconut farm
• Owns a Dairy with 20 cows and 4 sheeps
• Toastmaster and a Soft Skills Trainer

Campus Recruitment Drive - Semnox Solutions Pvt Ltd.

Semnox Solutions Pvt Ltd. conducted a Pool Campus Recruitment Drive on 9th Oct’19 for the Engineering students of 2020 outgoing batch. A Four-member team from Semnox were at the campus to facilitate the recruitment process. Around 188 students from pool colleges participated in the drive and the results are awaited.

Dean-Strategic Planning appointed as the Member of BOS at SDM Ujire

Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning has been appointed as the Member of Board of Studies (BOS) in the Department of Business & Administration (BBA) of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College (Autonomous), Ujire for a tenure of 3 years. He is also invited for a special BOS meeting of B Voc. programme, a Vocational Course in Retail & Supply Chain Management.

Commemoration of World Mental Health Day at Sahyadri

In commemoration of World Mental Health Day, Sahyadri NSS Unit and Sahyadri Health and Counselling Centre organized “Dance Movement Relaxation Therapeutic Session” for the teaching and non-teaching staff. The session was facilitated by Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor at Netravati Auditorium on 9th Oct’19. The session was designed to relieve stress through use of basic dance movements with the fusion of Yoga Asanas. The faculty participated enthusiastically in the session.

Events on World Mental Health Day at Sahyadri

In commemoration of World Mental Health day on 10th Oct’19, an Awareness programme on the topic of “Mental Illness - Myths and Misconceptions” was conducted for the First year MBA students by Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor. Poster display on Prevention of Suicide was prepared by Ms. Pavithra, a student of 3rd year Computer Science & Engineering. The awareness session on mental health helped the students to understand mental health concepts, Sign and Symptoms of mental illness, causes, prevention and remedies for mental illness.

Guest Lecture

Mr. Ashish Ullal HR Trainer, conducted a session for HR students on 10th Oct’19.
Mr. Ashish works as a Trainer, he spoke about HR terminologies and the upcoming changes in the training field and what are the skills required by the company to employ a HR personnel. He advised the students to get those qualities and acquired the required skills. He conducted few Q&A and Training sessions on introducing self in interview and cleared students doubts on HR related aspects

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. G B Janardhana Swamy has obtained his B.E degree from Sapthagiri College of Engineering, Bengaluru and M.Tech degree from J.S.S. Academy of Technical Education, Bengaluru. He has 7.5 years of teaching experience. He has published 3 articles in national and international journals. His research interests are Agile software development, Machine Learning and Programming Languages.

Introduction of the Mentees:
• Darshan K S is form Tumkur. He pursued his SSLC from BGS Public school, Gauribidnur and PUC at Alvas Pre-University College, Moodbidri. His hobbies include playing with electronic gadgets and learning new concepts. He aspires to pursue higher studies and also interested to work in the research field of Artificial Intelligence.
• Pratheeksha K is from Mangaluru. She pursued her schooling at Carmel School, Mangaluru and PUC at St Aloysius PU College. Her hobbies include singing and drawing. She aspires to become a software developer and work in Microsoft or Google.
• Anujna Bhat is from Puttur. She pursued her schooling at Vivekananda English Medium School Puttur and PUC from Vivekananda PU College. Her hobbies include singing and reading novel. She aspires to work in an animation company like Disney.
• Shreyas S Dongre is from Belthangady. He pursued his schooling at St. Mary's School, Belthangady and PUC from SDM PU College, Ujire. His hobbies include listening to music, drawing and singing. He aspires to work in Google, Microsoft, or Infosys as a Software Engineer.
• Ved Patel is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling at Canara High School, Mangaluru and PUC from Canara Pu College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are listening to music and playing both indoor and outdoor games. His aspiration is to work in Google.
• Jaswant Tiwari is from Mumbai. He pursued his schooling at Carmelite Convent English High School and PUC from St. Peters College. His hobbies include playing outdoor sports. He is interested in coding. He aspires to become a software developer/web developer in the companies like Microsoft and Google.
• Mohammed Shamsheer is from Puttur. He pursued his schooling Al Ihsan Academy School Muloor Udupi and PUC at Vivekananda Pre-University College Puttur. He won state level prize in the Science Project Exhibition during his school days. Recently, he got 3rd prize in the event held at Hyderabad. He aspires to become a Pilot
