MBAs attend Outbound Training at Nature Bound Sahyadri, AnkolaMBAs attend Outbound Training at Nature Bound Sahyadri, Ankola A total of 125 students from first year MBA accompanied with 3 faculty members participated in the “Outbound Experiential Business Management Training Module” at ‘Nature Bound Sahyadri Camp’ in Ankola. The course was organized for value forming experiences through adventure and challenge, Compassion and Service, Learning through experience and social and environmental responsibility.

The course facilitated experiences through activities and games to get a practical insight to individual behaviour and group dynamics. The purpose was to reflect upon desired responses and experiment them in real time situations and further reflect on what to expect from future experiences. The students were divided into nine teams and each team was allotted with a trainer. As soon as the students entered into the camp they had to deposit all the gadgets and hence had to stay away from digital life for three days. The students also had to stay in tents.

The whole-day event included activities related to communication, adventure, scavenging and navigation in forest using navigation compass. It also included briefing sessions on personality development, smart thinking, development and application of strategies.

MBAs attend Outbound Training at Nature Bound Sahyadri, Ankola The students had to challenge themselves when they were tested with physical endurance and also logical thinking. Students returned with a positive feedback and also expressed their confidence to stay away from the digital gadgets for more hours. The course has definitely brought in changes in personal and professional behavioural pattern of students and helped in reinforcing the theories and principles studied in the classroom.

Librarian's Research Paper published in the SCOPUS indexed and UGC listed journal "Library philosophy and practice" peer reviewed e-Journal.

Research Paper authored by Dr. Bharathi K, Sahyadri Central Librarian, titled - "Utilization of the Digital Information Resources and Services provided in the Engineering College libraries in Karnataka, India: User's Perspective (2019)" is published in the "Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal).

Library Philosophy and Practice (LPP) (ISSN 1522-0222) is a peer-reviewed electronic journal owned and published by the University Libraries of the University of Nebraska--Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. LPP publishes articles exploring the connection between library practice and the philosophy and theory behind it.

Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) Ideation event at Lady Hill Victoria PU CollegeSahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) Ideation event at Lady Hill Victoria PU College In order to encourage students in solving community-based problems and developing problem solving skills in them, an ideation event was facilitated by Mr. Gautham Nayak and Mr. Akshay P N at Lady Hill Victoria PU College on 17th Oct19. A total of 130 students attended the session which indulged them in different cases of Ideation - understanding the problems of stakeholders by doing inclusive research and eventually defining the problem to come up with a solution as a part of upcoming event Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH). SSTH would witness 400 ideas at the Grand Finale focussing on community-based problems.

First Year Engineering students to participate in 'TATHVA-19' at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, Kerala A total of 25 First Year Engineering students of ‘Clan Samanvaya’ will be participating in ‘Tathva-19’, a Technical Fest to be held during 18th to 20th Oct’19 at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, Kerala.

The team is mentored by Hassan Rashid and M.H. Shahas from Second year Mechanical Engineering. The students will be participating in events like Death Race, Dirt Race, Line Follower and Robo Soccer.

First Year Engineering students to participate in 'Amalthea-19' at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT), Gujarat A total of 18 First-year Engineering students of ‘Clan Rachit’ will be participating in Amalthea-19, a Technical Fest to be held during 18th to 20th Oct19 at Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The team is mentored by K Samarth N. Kamath from Second year Computer Science & Engineering. The students will be participating in events like Robo quest and Chem-e-car.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Hemantha Prabhu B. is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He has 37 years of teaching experience and worked in various capacities in the academic line. He is the life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He has worked as BOE & BOS member of Mysore University, Kuvempu University and Bangalore University. He is the resource person for training of civil engineers in government organizations through KERS.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Pranava K. is from Bantwal. He pursued his SSLC from Vivekananda Kannada Medium School, and PUC from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. His hobbies are playing and watching cricket. He is interested to work in the area of architecture after completion of his B.E degree.
• Ashwitha S. is from Bantwal. She pursued her SSLC from Vittal Jaycees English Medium High School and PUC from Vivekananda PU College Puttur. Her hobbies are writing poems, communication and dancing.
• Nithin is from Anekal. He pursued his SSLC from Bishop Cotton English School and PUC from St. Phiomena PU College, Puttur. His hobbies are playing cricket, volley ball and carrom. He has confidence about himself having positive attitude and a helping nature.
• Shivakumara Suratani is from BadamiTaluk. He pursued his SSLC and PUC from Sainik School Kodagu. His hobbies are reading mythological fiction, playing hockey, listing to music and solving Rubik’s Cube. His strengths are a friendly nature and he can take his friends along in a task. He is good in programming and possesses good communications skills. He is a good athlete.
