Chairman’s visit to National Institute of Technology, Goa and interaction with the Director

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman-Bhandary Foundation visited the National Institute of Technology, Goa and had an interaction with Dr. Gopal Mugeraya, Director of National Institute of Technology, Goa on 4th Oct’19.
Dr. Gopal Mugeraya has served at NITK, Agartala and NITK, Surathkal in various eminent positions before joining NIT, Goa. He has obtained Ph.D frm IISc, Bengaluru. He has coordinated more than 35 industry-oriented projects at PG level and has guided 9 Ph.D’s in the area of Industrial Pollution Control and Solid Waste Management.

His Achievements are:
• Received “Hindustan Door-Oliver National Award-2000” by Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers
• Received “World Environment Day-Parisara award 2001” by Govt. of Karnataka.
• Awarded “Biotechnology Overseas Associate ship Award 2004” by DBT, Govt. of India and undergone advance training at Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Riverside, USA in the area of Biosensors and Bioremediation.
• Deputed to “Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok (AIT)” by Govt. of India in year 2003 as Visiting Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering (SERD).
• Life member ISTE, IIChE, IAEM, ECSI and Biosensors and Bioremediation Society of India.

He was also involved with NBA of AICTE as an accreditation expert member for more than fifty Institutions all over India for the last ten years. He is the Chairman of Technical Advisory Committee of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and a well wisher of Sahyadri since those days while he was serving at National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.

During interaction, Dr. Gopal appreciated the approaches taken by Sahyadri towards Industry-Academia interface and assured of his association with Sahyadri through Dr. Manjappa S, Director-Research towards overall development of the institution.

Film Actor Prakash Raj visited Sahyadri for Film Shooting

Film Actor Prakash Raj visited Sahyadri on 2nd Oct'19 for film shooting of his upcoming movie starring actor Puneeth Rajkumar. The story of the movie is centered on Students. Actor Prakash Raj went around the campus and appreciated the infrastructure of the college and acknowledged that he was familiar with the prominence of the institute.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Juego Studio

Juego Studios conducted a Pool Campus Recruitment Drive on 3rd Oct'19 for the Engineering and MBA students of 2020 outgoing batch. Team comprising of eight members from Juego were present to facilitate the recruitment process. Around 222 students from different colleges participated in the drive. A total of 7 students were selected out of which 5 students are from Sahyadri.

Sahyadrians Recruited by iWave Systems

Keerthi Uday from Information Science & Engineering was recruited by iWave Systems for the position of ‘Embedded Software Engineer’.

Prathwik R Amin & Kaustubha from Electronics & Communication Engineering were recruited for the position of ‘Embedded Hardware Engineer’ in the Campus Recruitment drive held on 25th Oct'19.

Sahyadrians Recruited by Focus Academy of Career Enhancement (FACE)

Shruthi D Shetty from Information Science & Engineering and Shakshi Kumari from Mechanical Engineering were selected by FACE for the position of ‘Business Analyst’ in the Campus Recruitment drive held on 26th Sep'19.

DREAMERS DAY Celebration

Sahyadri has initiated several launchpads to bring together like-minded students to innovate. Amongst them, one such Launchpad is ‘Dreamers Edu Pvt Ltd’, which focuses on innovation for the society. ‘DREAMERS’ launchpad is 7 years old and the founding members of this launchpad, in order to keep the Culture of Innovation growing declared October 3rd – Birthday of the Founder (Mr. Jacob Tellis), as DREAMERS DAY. On this day, all the seniors, the ones who have graduated from launchpad, the people who have been benefited from this launchpad come together and share their experience, lay the vision for the 5 years, plan the year’s activity and strengthen the bond. On this day, the Founder rejuvenates the enthusiasm that once triggered the initiation of DREAMERS. The day progressed by Birthday Celebration and lots of fun activities and brought together the fresher’s and the ones who have successfully ventured into their career from this launchpad. Dreamers has till date, won a lot of accolades, spinned off 3 Startups and ones who have been a part of this launchpad have already been into institutions like IIM Bangalore, IISc Bangalore, University of Leeds UK and so on.

VTU Mangaluru Zone Cricket Selection Trails

VTU Mangaluru Zone Cricket Selection Trails for Men was organized by Sahyadri at Nehru Maidan, Mangaluru on 4th Oct’19. A total of 45 Cricket players participated from various Engineering colleges of Mangaluru Zone.

Dr. Rajesha S, Dean - Academics and Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering has a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from IIT, Roorkee, Uttarakhand; M.Tech in Maintenance Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore; B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from PES College of Engineering, Mandya.

He has 18 years of academic & research experience and 8 years of industrial experience. He has published many papers in National & International journals and conferences and has 3 patents in his credit.

• Varun M Kolya is from Kolya. He completed his SSLC from St. Joseph Joyland School, Kolya and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College Mangaluru. He is a Kabbadi Player. His hobbies are playing both indoor and outdoor games. His aspires to work in Mahindra Company
• Anirudh Kamath is from Halady. He completed his SSLC from Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavara and PUC from M.G.M PU College, Kunjibettu, Udupi. He participated in State Level Table Tennis -2018 Competition at Bidar. His hobbies are Mono-Acting and playing games. He aspires to work in a reputed Automobile firm
• Pradeep is from Puttur. He completed his SSLC from Sudana Residential School, Nehru Nagara, Puttur and PUC from Vivekananda PU College Puttur. He participated in state level swimming competition. His hobbies are swimming and listening to music. His ambition is to work for Merchant Navy
• Shubham Umesh Shetty is from Mangaluru. He completed his SSLC from Sharada Vidyanikethana Public School, Talapady and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College. He won 2nd place in national level basketball held at Rajasthan. His hobbies are playing games. His ambition is to work for Merchant Navy
