One Day Faculty Development Program on Universal Human Values and Ethics in Teaching Profession One Day Faculty Development Program on Universal Human Values and Ethics in Teaching Profession Department of Business Administration conducted a One Day Faculty Development Program for all the undergraduate college faculties. The day began with the inauguration by the Chief Guest Prof. ArunaKamath, Principal, SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director, MBA Department welcomed the guests and participants. She gave a brief highlight about our College to the participants. Mr. Padmanabha B, Coordinator, introduced Prof. Aruna Kamath and Mr Sagar A H,Resource Person, who is an international educationist.

Prof. Kamath pointed out that teachers should learn from the younger generation. She said that doctors save life and teachers shape life. Teachers should always face adversities and come up with better solutions was her message to all the participants. In his presidential remarks, Prof. S. S.Balakrishna, Vice Principal, complimented the MBA Department on the innovative, dynamic and mind boggling events the department always hosts. Prof. Girish Madla, Coordinator thanked all the dignitaries and participants for being a part of the one day FDP Program.

Mr Sagar A H kick-started his session on ”Philosophy and critical thinking” with an ice breaker where he told them that “a genius is confused and asks a lot of questions but a person who is sure and confident will never think differently. He spoke on the famous theories- Chinese Room, Brain in a Vat, A Single Migration from Africa populated the world. During the post lunch session Mr Sagar A H spoke on Universal Human Values & Ethics in education highlighting the Structure of Arguments and Cultural Studies stating that there are two India’s in India.

MBA Department organizes a One-Day Leadership Development Programme for the UG students The session had 71 participants from 31 undergraduate colleges of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod and Shimoga districts.

Scientific Officer, Kudankulam Project - Nuclear Power Corporation visited Caliper Mr Kishore, Scientific Officer, Kudankulam Project - Nuclear Power Corporation, visited Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt Limited, a Sahyadri startupto discuss the ongoing projects ordered on Caliper.He also spent some quality time with the young CAD engineers who have joined recently @ Caliper to complete a design of the nuclear reactor components which will be manufactured by Caliper in the coming weeks.

Mr Kishore was impressed with Sahyadri and its initiatives and invited Caliper to visit their site again to discuss potential re-engineering opportunities, which can be taken up involving students and faculty.

Department of Computer Science &Engineering (CS) organized “Arpan-2K18”

Arpan-2K18 With the intent of helping the needy, every yearvarious events are conducted and the money thus collected is contributed to orphanages and old- age homes.

Accordingly, in April this year Arpan-2K18 was conducted and a total of Rs 50,000/- was collected during the programme. This amount was donated to “Sri Matha Lakshani Shanthidhama” an Old Age Home at Meramajal. Faculty members, along with the students visited the placeand interacted with the elderly people.

Alumni Interacts with the students of Information Science & Engineering  Ashwitha Crasta, alumni of Information Science & Engineering, currently working as Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Dell EMC, Bengaluru, interacted with the students of Information Science & Engineering.

In her address, Ashwitha insisted that the students get placed through the placement drives itself. She also explained about the different levels of interview process. She also enlightened the students about her domain of expertise i.e. Database Storage Applications in virtual machines.

Faculty presents a poem during Independence celebration at Town hall

Internship recruitment conducted by LMT Software Solutions Pvt Ltd. Mrs. Akshaya Shetty, Asst. Professor, Departmentof Kannada, was invited for poem recital at the Independence Day celebration event organized by Kannada Mattu Sanskriti Ellake, Government of Karnataka, at Town Hall, Mangalore City.

The poem entitled“Savaalinolage Svatantrothara” was selected by the Department, for presentation during this prestigious event.

The co-author of the paper is Dr. Shasidhar G. Koolagudi, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, NITK, Surathkal.

INTERSPEECH is the world’s largest and most comprehensive tier-1 international conference on speech, language and audio signal processing. In India, the conference is organised for the first time by International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.

Campus Recruitment Drive

ShipX & Vembu Technologies  ShipX & Vembu Technologies  ShipX & Vembu Technologies conducted a pool campus recruitment drive at Sahyadri for the 2018 passed out engineering students. A total of 29 students attended the drive from D.K and Udupi districts.

Accolite Software India Accolite Software India conducted an exclusive campus recruitment drive for the B.E, B.Tech engineering students of 2019 batch. A total of 252 students attended the drive and the results are awaited. The package offered is 13 lakhs per annum.

ElintLabz is conducting a recruitment drive at Sahyadri for the 2019 batch engineering students. The package offered is Rs5 Lakhs per annum.

ElintLabz is an electronics designer and manufacturer with headquarters in Bengaluru, India. They design, develop and manufacture development boards based on micro-controller and microprocessors, breakout boards for various sensors andactuators. Their domain and expertise is in the area of Electronics & Embedded Systems.
