Aerophilia 2019

Aerophilia-2019Aerophilia-2019 Aerophilia 2019, a Two-Day National Level Aeromodelling competition was held in the campus and ISRO Hackathon was a part of this mega event. Aerophilia was inaugurated on 20th Sep, 2019 by the Guests Mr. Manish Saxena, Mr. Akhileshwar Reddy, Mr. AkshayPande, Ms. KanikaJakhar and Mr. Prasun Kumar. This was followed by a workshop headed by the Senior ISRO Scientist - Ms. KanikaJakhar, explaining briefly about NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) including data transfers through Bluetooth, USB cable and through GPRS. The next session was handled by CEO of DSI - Mr. Sachin Ganesh & team, who briefed about practical use of these devices and use of MIT App Inventor.

Aerophilia-2019Aerophilia-2019 After attending workshops and the sessions, participants worked on projects implementing the NavIC devices provided by ISRO. The participants enthusiastically started working on their own idea which required the choice of devices provided and implementing it using an application or a website.
On 21st Sep, 2019, there was a technical talk given by Mr. Manish Saxena, which was conducted for students from Dept. of Electronics & Communication and First year followed by the technical assistance by DSI and supported by other launch pads.

Aerophilia-2019Aerophilia-2019 The 36 hours ISRO Hackathon came to an end with all participants gaining knowledge about their idea and getting exposed to NavIC modules by providing a hands-on experience to them.

The Hackathon concluded on 22nd Sep, 2019, with the pitching session by 20 teams coming from various colleges including MITE, SDIT, SJEC, Indian Navy, MITS, BIT, MHSC, IIAEM-Jain University, EEC, SMVITM, and SMVEC. After which, there was an evaluation session done by the ISRO jury members. The event ended with a Valedictory Ceremony.

AICTE-INAE Distinguished Professor S. SeetharamuVisits the Department of Mechanical Engineering

AICTE-INAE Dr. S. Seetharamu, currently Technical Advisor for National Design Research Forum (NDRF) and Formerly Director of Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bengaluru, visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering on September 21, 2019 in connection with planning the work-programs under the AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professorship Scheme. He also participated in the Seminar on “Future Technological Trends in Ceramic Materials” that was held in the College. Prof. Seetharamu had been selected as AICTE- INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor for Department of Mechanical Engineering of our College under the above scheme for a period of one year starting from Jun 1, 2019 upto May 31, 2020 which is extendable up to 5 years as industry expert.

Dr. S. Seetharamu received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science in 1982 after completing M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from IIScand B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University. Dr. S. Seetharamu joined CPRI after serving in L&T and retired as Director of CPRI. He has also served as a Faculty at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan.

His visit to the department was concluded with an interaction with faculty members focused on planning the technical activities to be organized for the benefits of the students and faculty members during his future visits.

Infosys recruits BIG number from Sahyadri

Infosys-recruits-BIG-number-from-Sahyadri A total of 146 Sahyadrians were recruited by Infosys. Sixty Eight from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, Thirty Seven from the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering, Twenty Seven from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Thirteen from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & One from the Dept. of Civil Engineering for the position of System Engineer Trainee in the recently held campus recruitment drive held on 20th Sep' 19.

Campus Recruitment Drive - IBM India

Campus-Recruitment-Drive-IBM-India IBM conducted a campus recruitment drive on the 21st & 22nd Sept' 19 for the students of 2020 outgoing batch. A total of 465 students from the Dept. of Computer Science, Information Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering participated in the drive, out of which, 61 students were shortlisted. The final results are awaited.


Induction Program for MBA Batch 2019

Induction-Program-for-MBA-Batch-2019Induction-Program-for-MBA-Batch-2019 On 21st Sep19, the Day Six of Induction Programme for the First Year MBAs, the Student Council Members facilitated a session and gave insights about the MBA life at Sahyadri. They also shared their experiences about Internship, preparation for Placements and Tips on Academic performance. Council members re-iterated the vast opportunities available at the institution. Treasure Hunt was also conducted which helped the new entrants to familiarize with the campus.

Post this, Mr. Ramana and Team held a session about his Journey from Engineering to Start-up - 'Manframe Computers'. The team gave insights of the company and gave information about the products and services of the company.

On 23rd Sep19, Day Seven, Mr. RamaniVenkat, NLP trainer, Mentor to start-ups, Serial Entrepreneur, Sales and Strategic Consultant to mid-sized companies interacted with the students on the topic ‘Art of influencing others’ and ‘Mind-set Programming’. This session emphasized on the importance of developing knowledge and skill-sets rather than just obtaining a degree. He emphasized on increasing one’s brand value. Afternoon session was on Decision making skills, where cases were given and students had to come up with the best decisions for the respective case.

IEEE Execom Meeting of IEEE-Mangalore Sub-Section at SahyadriIEEE Execom Meeting of IEEE-Mangalore Sub-Section at Sahyadri The IEEE Execom meeting of IEEE, Mangalore sub-section was held at Sahyadri on 21st Sep’19. Prof. Manohara Pai, IEEE chair addressed the students of IEEE- Student chapter Sahyadri and gave them the insights about the IEEE as a professional body and its advantages to the student community. He also urged the students to organize quality technical events under the IEEE banner.

In this meeting, various events to be held by the Mangalore sub-section were also discussed. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Manohara Pai, Professor MIT, Manipal. IEEE professional body members from various institutes like NIT, Surathkal; MIT, Manipal; NMAMIT-NITTE; CEC, Bantwaland so on attended the meeting. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal; Dr. Ashwath Rao, Head of Dept. of Electronics &Communication Engineering and Dr. Shamanth Rai, Head of Dept. of Information Science & Engineering & IEEE Student Branch Counselor represented Sahyadri in addition to all the student branch members of IEEE- Sahyadri.

IEEE Student Branch of Sahyadri organized a Tech-Talk The IEEE Student branch of Sahyadri organized a technical talk on 21st Sep’19. Prof. Basavaraj Talawar, Professor, NIT Surathkal delivered a Technical Talk on “Disruptive Technologies in Computing Systems”. In his talk, he gave glimpses on how there will be massive changes in the computer architecture which could disrupt the way in which computing is done. A total of 180 students from Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication and Information Science &Engineering participated in this tech talk.

Members of Sahyadri Motorsports Participated in Formula Bharath Academy Workshop

Sahyadri-Motorsports Members of Sahyadri Motorsports working with the project “Levitas Racing” - student version formula car have participated in the workshop conducted by Formula Bharath Academy in IIT Madras, Chennai on 22nd Sep, 2019. The workshop was based on detailing about Decision-Making during Design & Manufacturing of student Formula car. The participants were Shreyan Apposa from Department of Information Science & Engineering and Preethesh B, Vishal H K and Sohan Alva from the Mechanical Department.

The workshop also stressed on producing simple and efficient ways of delivering the cost report and business presentation. The students also got to witness sessions of eminent person from Mathworks and Ather Energy.

The Formula Bharat 2020 competition shall be taking place at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore during January 22 - 26, 2020. The competition will focus on the combustion category and will be following an adaptation of the Formula Student 2019 Rules document.

Future Skill Group - Cyber Security conducted its fourth Session

Future Skill Group - Cyber Security conducted its fourth Session Cyber Security Future Skill Club, under the banner of Centre of Excellence Cyber security conducted its 4th Event on 21st Sep, 2019. Prof. Naithik S T, Dept. of Information Science & Engineering and Manager COE - Cyber Security facilitated the session. He briefed about various Phishing attack. The topic was discussion using various case studies.


MBA Faculty delivers lecture on “Why and Where Technology Today”

Why-and-Where-Technology-Today Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty from the MBA Department delivered a lecture on “Why and Where Technology Today” - throwing light on Data Science, Cloud computing and Cyber Security to the B.Tech and BCA students of Srinivas University. He also highlighted on the importance of soft skills along with hard skills.
