Dept. of CSE (AIML) organized Parent–Teacher Meet

Department of CSE (AIML) organized a Parent–Teacher Meet to strengthen collaboration between parents and the institution for the academic and holistic development of students. Dr. Sadhana Rai delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to the parents for their presence and continued trust in the institution.

Dr. Pushpalatha K, Professor and HOD, presented the introductory remarks, emphasizing the importance of parent–faculty interaction in shaping students’ academic progress.

Prof. Shruthi Vishwajeeth, Department Placement Coordinator, addressed the gathering and shared insights into training programs, skill development initiatives, and placement opportunities available for students.

Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Vice Principal and CoE, provided valuable information regarding academic regulations and evaluation procedures. Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean of Academics, spoke about academic excellence and institutional standards, while Dr. Prashanth Rao, Dean of Student Welfare, highlighted initiatives focused on students’ overall development.

The Principal, Dr. S. S. Injaganeri, delivered an inspiring address, motivating parents towards academic success. Later, Parents shared feedback and engaged in constructive discussions with faculty members. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Sharathchandra N R.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Ganaraj K, Prof. Chaithrika Aditya, and Prof. Anujna.

Blockchain Research Paper by CSE Students presented at the IEEE International Conference

A research paper titled “AI-Powered Blockchain Digital Banking Fraud Detection System,” authored by CSE students Divya V, Meghashree K, Samreena, Sanjana Rai under the guidance of Dr. Deepti Rai, Dept. of CSE, has been presented at the IEEE AICAPS 2026 International Conference, organized by Department of Computer Applications, Cochin University of Science and Technology, in association with IEEE Kerala Section under Track II: Security, Trust, Privacy and Authentication.

This research focuses on a hybrid fraud detection framework that integrates Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain technology to detect and prevent fraudulent digital banking transactions in real time. By combining machine learning and deep learning models such as Isolation Forest, LSTM Autoencoder, Graph-based learning (GCN/GAT), and an XGBoost meta-model, the system analyzes transaction patterns, user behaviour, and relational fraud links to accurately identify suspicious activities.

To enhance trust and security, the proposed system incorporates blockchain-based immutable logging and smart contract-driven automated actions, enabling immediate fraud response, such as transaction blocking and account freezing. Additionally, the system introduces IVR-based voice call verification as a stronger alternative to SMS OTP, improving authentication security against phishing and SIM-swap attacks.

Advancing Research Excellence: ECE Student Internship at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru

Shreya R., final year student from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), has secured a prestigious, stipend-supported four-month research internship at IISc Bengaluru.

The internship focuses on FPGA-based system design and OpenWiFi, providing advanced exposure to wireless communication and reconfigurable hardware systems.

Special acknowledgment to Dr. T. V. Prabhakar, Professor, Division of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science, IISc Bengaluru, for his mentorship and support.

CSE Research Paper Presented at AIDE 2026, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte

The research paper titled “Exploring Automated Conversion of 2D Blueprints to 3D Models for Civil Applications using Deep Learning Approaches”, authored by the students of the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) - Praneeth Ganesh, Aditya Gupta, Aman Shetty, and Sathwik Krishna, under the guidance of Prof. Alakananda K, was accepted and presented on 7 February 2026 at the IEEE Co-sponsored International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering (AIDE 2026), held at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, as part of ICETE-2026, a multiconference conducted from 5–7 February 2026 at NMAMIT, Nitte, Mangalore, India. The paper will be published in the Springer conference proceedings.

This project focuses on automating the conversion of 2D architectural floor plan blueprints into accurate 3D models using deep learning and computer vision techniques. The proposed system reduces manual effort involved in traditional CAD and BIM-based modelling by automatically detecting key structural elements such as walls, doors, windows, rooms, and floor regions using a U-Net model with a ResNet-50 encoder. The segmented outputs are refined through post-processing and converted into structured 3D models using rule-based reconstruction, achieving reliable accuracy and consistency.

Mastering Git & GitHub: A Workshop by ISDC

On 13th February 2026, ISDC conducted an engaging session on “Git and GitHub Fundamentals” for students. The main goal of the session was to help them understand version control and why it plays such an important role in today’s software development field.

The speakers explained in a simple and practical way how Git helps in managing projects, tracking changes, and collaborating smoothly in teams. Basic concepts like repositories, project tracking, and workflow were broken down so that even beginners could easily understand them. Essential Git commands were also discussed to give students a clear picture of how development happens in real-world projects.

The session further covered topics like branching, merging, and working with remote repositories. Students were also introduced to GitHub and how it can be used to host projects, collaborate with others, and build a professional developer profile.

One of the key highlights was guiding students on how to claim the GitHub Student Developer Pack using their official college email ID.
