MBA students gain insights through Mumbai industrial visit

MBA students, accompanied by their mentors—Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director of the MBA Program; Dr. Sushma V; Prof. Samarth Shenoy; and Prof. Varun C S, embarked on an enriching industrial visit to Mumbai. The visit offered students an opportunity to explore leading industries and iconic systems, fostering a deeper understanding of operations, manufacturing, and logistics.
The students visited Asahi India Glass Ltd, one of India’s top glass manufacturers, where they toured the manufacturing unit and observed cutting-edge glass production processes.
At Parle-G, operated by Bunty Foods, the students attended an insightful session conducted by an Education Consultant, who delved into the history, production, and operations of Parle-G. They also visited the production unit to witness the manufacturing process.
A highlight of the visit was their interaction with the legendary Mumbai Dabbawalas. Mr. Vijay, a Trustee and Social Media Coordinator of the Dabbawalas, shared insights into their highly efficient supply chain system. Students had the unique experience of experimental training, traveling on local trains to understand the intricacies of the Dabbawalas' logistics and delivery network.
Additionally, the students explored Mumbai’s infrastructural marvels, including the ATAL Sea Link, gaining a broader perspective on the city’s rapid development and connectivity.
This industrial visit provided an invaluable experiential learning opportunity, bridging classroom knowledge with real-world applications.
