First Board of Studies (BoS) Meeting: Dept. of CSE (AI and ML)

Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) conducted its first Board of Studies (BoS) meeting to review and finalize the 2024 scheme and syllabus for 3rd to 8th semesters. The main goal of the meeting was to get feedback and approval for the new scheme from both academic and industry experts. Dr. Pushpalatha K, Head of the Department and BoS Chairperson, welcomed everyone and led the meeting. Dr. S. S Injaganeri, Principal emphasized the importance of autonomous institutions and how experts help in designing a good curriculum. A team of academic and industry experts reviewed the proposed syllabus for the AI and ML branch. They gave helpful suggestions to improve the content and structure of the courses.
The academic experts who attended the meeting were:
• Prof. Shashikumar Ganeshan, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Computational and Data Sciences, IISc Bangalore – VTU Nominee
• Dr. Sowmya Kamath S, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, NITK Surathkal
• Dr. Megha P. Arakeri, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, MIT Bangalore
The industry experts were:
• Mr. Sridharan Venkataramanan, Associate Vice President, Global Logic, Bangalore
• Mr. Lanwin Lobo, Director, MResult, Mangaluru
Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean Academics, also shared his thoughts and gave suggestions about the syllabus. Dr. Sadhana Rai, Convener of BoS (CSE – AI and ML), gave a detailed presentation on the proposed scheme and syllabus. The meeting ended with appreciation from all the members, and the syllabus was approved with some suggestions for improvement.

ED Club of MBA Dept. conducts ‘Entrepreneurs Meet-up’

In a high-voltage edition of the ED Club's activities, first-year MBA students turned the spotlight on their own ventures at the In-house Entrepreneurs’ Meetup — a Shark Tank–style event with ideas as real as their hustle on 1st Jul 2025.
From handmade soaps and dance classes to financial services and vocal coaching, four young entrepreneurs took the stage to pitch their purpose-driven businesses. Hosted by the ED Club members and cheered by faculty and peers, the event brought energy, applause, and a whole lot of inspiration.
More than just a pitch session, it was a celebration of courage, creativity, and the power of starting small — right from the classroom.

MBA’s conduct training at Govt. Primary School, Bunder, Mangaluru

As a part of the assignment on Human Resource Management (HRM) course, first-year MBA students visited the Government Primary School, Bunder, Mangaluru, to conduct activity-based training. This visit provided them with a valuable opportunity to engage with the school students through interactive and meaningful activities like Whisper challenge, Continue the story, Describe and draw, Memory game. It served as a practical platform for the MBA students to apply classroom concepts, particularly those related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and human resource practices, in a real-world setting.

Librarian Participates in Webinar on ‘Libraries in the Age of AI and Big Data’

Dr. Bharathi K, Librarian, participated in the webinar on Dr. H. K. Kaul Memorial Lecture 2025, organized by DELNET, New Delhi. The lecture was delivered by the distinguished Dr. Neeta Verma, Chief Advisor (IT) to the Election Commission of India and former Director General of NIC, on the compelling theme “Libraries in the Age of AI and Big Data.”
