Glimpse of Day 1: Project Expo- Mini Project Poster Presentation

Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) in association with Sahyadri-IIC, IEI, ISTE and IEEE Student Branch organized Project Expo: Mini Project Poster Presentation Competition. All department pre-final year students presented their mini project ideas as Poster Presentation. A total of 208 Mini Projects Poster were presented, and out of 208, best 55 projects will be short listed for final round on the day two on 20th November 2024 by external panel members.

Talk on ‘Role and Challenges of Youth in Viksith Bharath 2047’

An expert talk on Viksith Bharth 2047 on the topic ‘Role of Youth and Challenges Ahead’ was organized at Sahyadri on 19th Nov, 2024. The event was jointly organized by Dept. of Basic Sciences and NSS Unit of the college. Around 700 first year BE students took part in the event.
Mr. Uthkarsh K S, distinguished orator and social activist, while addressing the students said – “A country full of young people - India has no shortage of knowledge and talent. The eyes of progressive world is on the Indian subcontinent for the progress it has made internationally in fields of science technology and digital economy. “Our youth must take inspiration from right icons. Selection of right role models, possessing positive attitude and trust in oneself helps in progress”, he added. Giving examples of Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, Shivaji Maharaj and Sachin Tendulkar he said- “youth is a magical time provided the energy is well understood and managed, thus channelizing energy in right direction can bring about revolution”.

He concluded the talk by saying “student-hood is a great opportunity and students must not waste it. Self-respect, self confidence and trust in oneself are important for bringing positive change”.
Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal in his welcome speech explained the meaning of ‘Viksith Bharath-2047’. He said, the government is planning for the all-round development of the country by the hundredth year of Indian Independence by supporting youth, women, financially poor and farmers of the country. Working in this direction, several programmes and projects are rolled out by the Central Government.
Prof. Supreetha, Dept. of Basic Sciences Compeered the event. Dr. Prashanth Rao, HoD of Basic Sciences had organized the programme. Dr. Hemanth Prabhu offered the memento to the resource person. Ms. Smitha Shenoy, NSS Programme Officer and faculty members of the Department were present.

MBA students gain insights through Goa industrial visit

Seventeen MBA students accompanied by two faculty members Ms. Monisha Shetty and Ms. Pooja Y Rai from the Dept. of Business Administration had the opportunity to visit several prominent industries in Goa, which provided them with valuable real-world exposure to diverse business sectors.
At CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited in Ponda, students learned about energy-efficient solutions, automation, and the role of sustainable technologies in modern manufacturing.
At Manjushree Technopack Ltd, students explored the packaging industry, focusing on sustainable packaging solutions and supply chain management.
Polynova industries offered insights into the plastic moulding industry, showcasing the production of polymer-based products. The students also explored quality control measures and the environmental impact of plastics.

Sahakari Spice Farm in Ponda provided a unique opportunity to understand organic farming practices and agribusiness, with students learning about sustainable farming and the concept of agritourism, where agriculture intersects with tourism to boost local economies.
Chowgule & Company Pvt Ltd in Loutulim gave students a broader perspective on multi-sector operations, with a focus on automotive dealership management and customer relations in the automotive, shipping, and construction sectors.
Finally, Mohit Ispat Pvt Ltd showcased steel production, with students exploring the manufacturing processes, market dynamics, and the role of technology and quality control in the steel industry. These visits allowed the students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, providing them with a deeper understanding of industry practices and challenges in various sectors.

Research Paper on Advanced Controller for Solar Vehicles accepted for IEEE International Conference at IIT Dharwad

The research paper titled “Advanced Controllers for Boosting Solar Vehicle Sustainability and Efficiency” has been accepted for presentation and publication at the prestigious IEEE Conference on Engineering Informatics (ICEI 2024). This event will take place at the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) from November 26-28, 2024.
ICEI 2024 also features an international edition at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, on November 20-21, 2024, which will showcase cutting-edge research from around the world.
The paper is authored by Shreesha S Shetty and Vidya S Kadlibalamath from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), and Apoorva Achar from the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML), along with faculty members Dr. Anush Bekal, HOD of ECE; Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar, Associate Professor in ECE, and Dr. Duddela Sai Prashanth, Associate Professor in AIML.
This research explores advanced control mechanisms aimed at improving the sustainability and efficiency of solar-powered vehicles, contributing to advancements in renewable energy applications and eco-friendly transportation.
The paper will be published in IEEE Xplore and indexed in Scopus, ensuring global recognition and accessibility. The team will present their work at IIT Dharwad later this month.
