CSE student, Runner-Up at VTU - YUKTI 2026

Anoop A, a third-semester student of Computer Science & Engineering, secured Second Prize (Runner-Up) in the Painting Event at YUKTI 2026, a regional-level fest organized by Visvesvaraya Technological University Regional Centre, Mysuru. The event was held on 19th – 20th February 2026, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students across various affiliated institutions.

Expanding Horizons: ECE Students Gain Industry Foothold Through Internships

Six students from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), have secured internship opportunities across a diverse spectrum of core technology, avionics, manufacturing, and industrial organisations.

Ashwin Prathith K has secured an internship at AerX Labs, a Bengaluru-based avionics and flight-simulation start-up that develops professional-grade certifiable simulators for airlines, flight schools, universities, and corporate clients. AerX Labs is incubated by Intel India and Bosch India.

Vinutha Mogaveer has secured an internship at Rosette Smart Life, Manipal, a healthcare and wellness Technology Company focused on enhancing productivity and well-being through smart devices and integrated mobile applications, beginning with smart wearable and lifestyle solutions.

Srajan Sanjay Mahale has joined DTi LABZ, Mangaluru, an organisation engaged in corporate management and business support activities.

Khushi S Shetty will intern at Baden Aniline and Soda Factory (BASF), Mangaluru Unit. BASF is a German multinational company and one of the world’s largest chemical companies, delivering solutions across chemicals, materials, industrial applications, performance products, and sustainable technologies serving multiple global industries.

Sanchitha HD has been selected for an internship at Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Mysuru Unit, where she will gain exposure to operations linked to transportation logistics and industrial process support within one of India’s leading FMCG manufacturing ecosystems.

Sachin has secured an internship at Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited in the Department of Process Control & Instrumentation, gaining exposure to large-scale fertilizer manufacturing systems, plant automation, and industrial instrumentation practices.

CSE Research Paper Accepted at (ICKECS 2026), SJC Institute of Technology, Chikkaballapur

The research paper titled “MentorConnect: A Data-Driven Multi-Year Mentorship System for Engineering Education”, authored by Ayyan Anwar , Nabil Khan , Md Aasim Shaibani and Arjun Rajeev under the guidance of Prof. Alakananda K, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), has been accepted for presentation and subsequent publication at the 4th International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Communication Systems (ICKECS 2026). The conference will be held on 24th and 25th April 2026 at SJC Institute of Technology , Chikkaballapur.

The research focuses on enhancing the quality of engineering education by implementing a structured, data-driven mentorship framework. By tracking and analysing mentorship interactions over multiple years, MentorConnect aims to provide personalized guidance to students, ensuring long-term academic success and better professional outcomes.

CSE Students Attend AI Impact Summit in New Delhi

The students of the sixth Semester Computer Science & Engineering, Amogha H. Shetty and Sahana S. Madival, attended the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The students participated in the prestigious NxtWave × OpenAI Buildathon 2026, a highly competitive national-level event conducted as part of the summit.

The Buildathon witnessed over 75,000 registrations from across India, making it an exceptionally competitive national platform. After qualifying at the college level, our students secured a position among the Top 300 teams in the state-level round conducted at S-VYASA University, Bengaluru. With their innovative solution and strong technical presentation, they advanced to the National Finals, where 94 top teams from different states competed.

The Grand Finale was held on 16th and 17th February 2026 at NCUI Auditorium and Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi, as part of the AI Impact Summit organized by the Government of India.

During the event, the students had the opportunity to interact with prominent industry leaders, including Bonnie Chatterjee, Global Head of Solutions Architecture at OpenAI. The experience provided them with invaluable national-level exposure, expert insights, and meaningful interactions with innovative teams from across the country.

Director-MBA Program was Invited as External Examiner for PhD Viva Voce at Srinivas University

Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director - MBA Program, was invited to serve as the external examiner for the Final PhD Viva Voce examination conducted at Srinivas University, Mukka campus on 23rd Feb 2026.

The doctoral viva voce was presented by research scholar Mrs. Dhopade Tejashree Gopal, who defended her thesis titled “Elevating Customer Buying Intention Towards Digitalization of Pharmaceutical Products.” The research work was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sujaya Mendon.

The examination involved an in-depth evaluation of the scholar’s research methodology, analytical framework, and contributions to the domain of digital transformation in the pharmaceutical sector. Dr. Samartha’s participation as an external examiner reflects the growing academic collaboration and recognition of expertise in the field of management research.

MBA Faculty members attended ‘MIR Net Zero Summit 2026’ at TMA Pai Convention Centre, Mangaluru

Faculty members Mr. Ramesh K G, Mr. Sagar Attavar and Mr. Varun C S from the Department of Business Administration represented the institution at the MIR Net Zero Summit 2026, held on 20th February 2026 at TMA Pai Hall, Mangalore.

This international summit brought together policymakers, industry leaders and sustainability experts to discuss pathways for accelerating India’s transition towards a net-zero economy. The event was organised by MIR Group as part of its Vision 2047 initiative and featured multiple thematic sessions, keynote addresses and panel discussions focused on green finance, sustainable infrastructure, digital integration and climate-responsive urban development.

Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO, moderated a session on “From Rome to New Delhi: Mobilizing Global Green Capital for India’s Net Zero Economy”. The discussion focused on mobilising international capital, policy alignment and institutional collaboration to support India’s clean-energy and sustainable development agenda.

The summit witnessed the presence of several eminent dignitaries, including Mr. Prahlad Joshi, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, Mr. Shripad Naik – Hon’ble Minister of State for Energy, Government of India, Mr. K. J. George – Hon’ble Minister for Power, Government of Karnataka, Darshan H V, IAS, DC of Dakshina Kannada & Captain Brijesh Chowta - Hon’ble Member of Parliament.

Participation in this global sustainability platform provided valuable exposure to emerging trends in green finance, ESG integration and climate-responsive business strategies.
