ECE Students Research Paper Accepted for IEEE ICICNIS-2024

"Advanced sensor-driven Drowning Prevention and Rescue System", a research paper has been accepted for presentation at the IEEE International Conference on IoT-based Control Networks and Intelligent Systems (ICICNIS-2024). Eighth-semester students - P Vishwanath Shenoy, Chiranthana Brahma, Shreevathsa M, and Sawan Keshav Palekar, under the guidance of Prof. Sumiksha Shetty from Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering authored the work.
The paper presents the Advanced Sensor-Driven Drowning Prevention and Rescue System, which uses wearable devices and environmental sensors to monitor individuals in water. It detects distress signals and alerts lifeguards and emergency services with exact location data. Machine learning improves the system’s accuracy over time. This technology aims to prevent drowning and speed up rescues. The system reduces response times and helps save lives. The conference is set to take place at T John Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, on 17th & 18th Dec 2024.

Concluding Day of Induction Program for MBA Batch 2024

On Day 3 of the induction program, a session titled ‘Awaken the Superhero in You’ was facilitated by Mr. Ramani Venkat, an entrepreneur, mentor to start-ups, sales strategist consultant, and NLP coach. He began the session by highlighting the qualities essential for becoming a successful leader and achieving success in life. The session witnessed various activities on seizing open opportunities, time management, designed to encourage students to think differently. Additionally, he facilitated an activity on decision-making and communication, through which students gained valuable insights into making informed choices, improving interpersonal communication, and effectively addressing challenges. His profound knowledge, interactive approach, and practical insights left students inspired and equipped with fresh perspectives.

Advaya 2024: CSE (AI&ML) Department Hosts Branch Entry Event

The SIGMA (Sahyadri Intellectual and Gallant Mascots of AI) Association organized an engaging event featuring Mr. Lanwin Lobo, Senior Director – Data Scientist and AI at MResult Technologies Pvt. Ltd., as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Brandon Leo John, Trainee Decision Scientist at MuSigma Business Solutions, as the Guest of Honor.
The program commenced with a warm welcome speech by Srujan Rai, a seventh-semester student. Dr. Gurusiddayya Hiremath, the Faculty Coordinator, introduced the new SIGMA office bearers for the academic year 2024-25. The HoD, Dr. Pushpalatha K, was appointed as the President of SIGMA, with Varsha Rao and Naizil Francis D Costa, both from the seventh semester, as the Vice-President and General Secretary, respectively. All office bearers received their badges during the ceremony.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of the Programming Hackathon and Collage Making Competition, held as part of the World Standards (BIS) Day celebration. The Head of the Department, Principal Dr. Injaganeri, and Chief Guests welcomed the second-year students, with motivational talks on the influence of AI and emerging job opportunities in the field.
The formal event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Naizil Francis D Costa, followed by vibrant cultural performances, marking the day's success.

MBA students gain insights through Industry Visit to Mahabaleshwar

Dept. of Business Administration organized an enriching industry visit to Mahabaleshwar, with 13 students accompanied by faculty member Prof. Padmanabha B, offering an excellent opportunity to integrate theoretical concepts with practical industrial exposure. The visit aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the operational frameworks and strategies employed in the food processing industry.
At Mapro, students explored the fascinating world of food and beverage production, gaining insights into the company’s manufacturing processes, product innovation, and quality control measures. The visit highlighted Mapro’s commitment to sustainability and customer satisfaction, emphasizing their unique production techniques, supply chain dynamics, and marketing strategies. This hands-on experience provided students with a valuable perspective on the functioning of a leading player in the food processing industry, inspiring them to apply these learnings to their future endeavours.

CSE Faculty members Conferred with Best Paper Award

During the IEEE International Conference COSMIC-2024 held at Sahyadri on 22nd November, 2024, the paper "Hybrid Quantum-Classical Neural Networks and its Hyperparameter Optimization – A Study" by Dr. Joyline D'Sa, Adithya R, Dr. Adarsh Rag S, and Dr. Suhas S. Bhyratea, won the Best Paper Award in the Computing category. Recognized for its innovation, review scores, and presentation, the award was presented by Dr. Suresh D. S., Chairman of ISTE Karnataka, during the valedictory ceremony. The paper will soon be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and indexed with SCOPUS.

CSE faculty published research paper in Scopus indexed journal

Prof. Poornima B V, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, co-authored a paper titled "Ensemble Learning Methods with Single and Multi-Model Deep Learning Approaches for Cephalometric Landmark Annotation," published by Springer Nature and indexed in Scopus, in the journal Discover Artificial Intelligence.

The study explores end-to-end deep learning frameworks and ensemble methods to enhance the accuracy of anatomical landmark identification in cephalometric radiographs, which is crucial for precise cephalometric analysis and effective orthodontic treatment planning.
