Protothon 2026 inaugurated at Sahyadri: A 24-Hour Innovation Hackathon Begins

The inauguration ceremony of Protothon 2026, a 24-hour hackathon aimed at transforming innovative ideas into functional prototypes, was held at Sahyadri on 13th March 2026. Protothon 2026 is organized by Sahyadri and MEITY Start-up Hub – Genesis, in collaboration with Sahynex Techsolutions Pvt. Ltd., Technical Career Education (TCE), and Discover Dollar Inc.

The hackathon has attracted enthusiastic participation from engineering students across Karnataka, along with students of Sahyadri, creating a vibrant platform for innovation and knowledge exchange.

The ceremony began a welcome address by Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean-Academics. Dr. Rithesh Pakkala, HoD-ISE Dept. delivered the introductory remarks highlighting the vision of Sahynex, TCE, and Discover Dollar in promoting industry-relevant learning and innovation.

The dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp, officially marking the commencement of the hackathon. The Chief Guest - Mr. Rakesh Kumar Desai from Ecolab, while addressing the gathering, encouraged participants to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and develop impactful solutions for real-world challenges.

Dr. S. S. Injaganeri, Principal delivered the concluding remarks, appreciating the initiative and encouraging students to utilize such platforms to showcase their innovation and problem-solving skills. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Tejas Nayak, Sahynex Techsolutions Pvt. Ltd.

Following the inauguration, a Pre-Hackathon Talk by Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO, inspired participants, while Mr. Rakesh Kumar Desai conducted a session on problem-solving approaches, innovation mindset, and evaluation expectations.

The teams then moved to their workspaces to begin ideation and prototype development, marking the start of an exciting 24-hour innovation journey.

Delegates from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar visited Sahyadri

A delegation from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar visited Sahyadri on 13th March 2026 to understand the institution’s academic framework, examination system, governance structure, and best practices.

The delegates were warmly welcomed by the Sahyadri leadership team and were taken on a visit to various campus facilities. They were briefed about Sahyadri’s academic and administrative practices, which were widely appreciated by the visiting team.

The delegates also interacted with the Examination Department and Heads of Departments to gain deeper insights into Sahyadri’s effective implementation practices and governance model.
