Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director-R&D shared valuable insights, encouraging students to actively seek funding opportunities for their research projects and to choose mentors who can guide them effectively throughout their research journey. He stressed the need for persistence and collaboration in the pursuit of knowledge.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Savitha MB, after which research scholars from various departments took the stage to present their ongoing research work, sharing their experiences and findings with the audience.

Management Conclave 2024 organized by MBA Dept.
The Management Conclave 2024, organized by the MBA Department on 20th Sep, 2024, was designed to guide first-year MBA students in selecting their specializations by providing them with real-world insights from esteemed industry experts and successful alumni’s. The event began with a welcome address by Director-MBA Program, Dr. Vishal Samartha, who set the tone for the day's discussions by highlighting the importance of industry-academic collaboration. Principal Dr. S S Injaganeri encouraged students to fully engage with the panellists and make the most of the learning opportunity.
The Finance Panel Discussion featured CMA Ramsankar Mishra, Senior Finance Officer MRPL, and CA M. Narasimhadas Pai, Founder of M N Pai & Associates, along with Ms. Ashija S Shetty, Senior Analyst at HSBC India Pvt Ltd an alumnus of Sahyadri, providing key insights into the finance sector. The session was moderated by Prof. Awin Eric Cutinha, Dept. of Business Administration.
This was followed by the Marketing Panel Discussion, which included Mr. Rakesh D, Head of Sales & Marketing at KMC Hospital, alongside Mr. Darshan R Vachhani, an entrepreneur and Sahyadri alumnus, both sharing their expertise in marketing and entrepreneurship. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Sagar Attavar, Dept. of Business Administration.
The day concluded with the HR Panel Discussion, featuring Ms. Vijayalakshmi Suvarna, Senior Manager of Talent Management at GlowTouch, and Ms. Ashwathi Nair, Director of HR at XY Retail, with Ms. Chaitanya Bhat, Executive Search Associate at QuantumV and an alumnus, sharing valuable HR perspectives. This session was moderated by Prof. Disha C Shetty, Dept. of Business Administration.
Each panel focused on breaking common myths related to specializations and underscored the critical importance of skill development in securing a successful career. The event was coordinated by Prof. Samarth Shenoy, Dept. of Business Administration, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all the panellists, moderators, and participants.
The Management Conclave 2024 provided students with a clear understanding of industry expectations, enabling them to make informed choices about their academic and professional paths.
First-Year Induction Program for Engineering batch 2024
Day One
The First-Year Induction Program was held on 23rd Sep’ 2024 with Dr. Subhash C Yaragal, Professor and Deputy Director of NITK Surathkal, as the chief guest. Dr. Prashanth Rao HOD Basic Science Department welcomed the dignitaries and also the first-year students 2024-25 batch.
Chief guest in his speech shared memories from the early days of the college when computers were just emerging and television was still in its developmental stages. He reflected on his travels to 15 countries, which gave him a wealth of experience. He emphasized the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being, he also highlighted on how we are accountable to society and fortunate to have access to numerous facilities. He cited Japan as an example of a small country frequently hit by earthquakes, yet thriving economically. His words inspired students, highlighting that while not everyone can be a gold medallist, each person can strive to excel in ways that bring them happiness. He also encouraged students to engage in discussions with teachers to build confidence and deepen their learning."
Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director-R&D, spoke about Sahyadri as an institute of distinction. He emphasized the importance of having a clear focus, aim, and objective as an engineer, urging students to develop ideas and products that contribute to society. He also highlighted how Sahyadri has flourished through its unique spirit of innovation.
Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO, spoke to the students about three different perspectives on decision-making. He emphasized the importance of making the right choices, disciplining oneself, and developing leadership skills, while taking the time to slow down and reflect. He explained that when making decisions, students should consider seeking advice from experts in the field, from those who genuinely care about them, or from people with knowledge in that area. He questioned why students often consult their parents—who may not be experts—when making decisions about fields where specialized expertise is required."
Principal Dr. S S Injaganeri spoke about the growth and success of the institute, highlighting how it has flourished through the dedication of its leaders. He urged every student to elevate the institute to even greater heights by working hard and making full use of the facilities provided. He emphasized that time management, discipline, and honesty are essential to achieving success. Prof. Akshaya Shetty compered the program.
Day Two
In a session on 24th Sep, 2024, Mr. Sidharth Goyal, IPS, addressed the first-year students, delivering an inspiring speech about his career journey. He was florally welcomed by Dr. Prashanth Rao, Head of the Basic Science Department. Mr. Goyal shared his experiences, from pursuing engineering to completing his MBA, and the challenges he faced along the way. He emphasized the importance of becoming a specialist in a chosen field, which can enhance confidence and performance.
He highlighted the differences between corporate and college life, stressing the value of continuous learning, skill-building, meaningful networking, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Mr. Goyal encouraged students to make well-informed decisions that lead to meaningful career opportunities, enabling both personal growth and family well-being.
As an IPS officer, he spoke about the challenges he faced in understanding his role within the organization and driving revolutionary changes. Mr. Goyal also advised engineering students on building a strong foundation through the development of both technical and soft skills. He urged them to keep learning, adapt to societal changes, and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth while staying true to their ethics and discipline. His message inspired students to follow their passion and take on life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
Day Three
On 25th September 2024, a session on Universal Human Values was conducted as part of the induction program for first-year students. The session on motivation was led by Dr. Prashanth Rao, Head of the Basic Science Department. He encouraged students not to be afraid of making mistakes, as each failure brings valuable lessons. He told students to keep asking questions, as curiosity is key to driving innovation. He reminded them that in today's fast-paced world, technology is constantly changing. To keep up with these changes, it's essential to continue learning and adapting. If we stop learning, we stop growing. By working in teams, sharing ideas, and respecting diverse perspectives, he also highlighted how Engineers can tackle complex problems more effectively by learning from every experience in life.
Mr. Abhishek Ranjan Kumar, Innovation Officer, MoE's Innovation Cell, GoI visited Sahyadri Incubation Centre
On 24th Sep, 2024, Mr. Abhishek Ranjan Kumar, Innovation Officer and IIC Zonal Coordinator (SWRO & CRO) from the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, visited the Sahyadri Incubation Centre. During his visit, Mr. Kumar engaged with the winners of the SIH 2024 internal hackathon and members of the Sahyadri IIC.
The event was attended by Dr. Manjappa S., Director-Research & Development; Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal; Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Vice Principal; Dr. Anush Bekal, Head of E&C; and Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar, Associate Dean of R&D.
Dr. Ajith B S, Asst. Dean (IPR), Prof. Harisha, Convener of IIC, along with other department IIC coordinators Mr. Kiran Prakash, Mr. Ashok A, Mr. Prajwal, and Mr. Manjunath EC, were also present. Prof. Mehanaz moderated the event.
During his visit to the incubation center, Mr. Abhishek praised the wide range of facilities available. Mr. Johnson Tellis, Trustee and CEO, provided insights into the various initiatives, Sahyadri’s innovative set-ups and startup ecosystem.
ISTE Karnataka State Section Committee Members Visit Sahyadri
ISTE Karnataka State Chairman, Dr. Suresh D S, Director of CIT Group of Institutions, along with distinguished members of the National Executive Council and Section Managing Committee, visited Sahyadri. The delegation included Dr. Sangappa, Director (Adm & PR) at K.S. Institute of Technology, Bangalore; Dr. Prakash J, Professor and Head of the Dept. of ISE at Bangalore Institute of Technology; Dr. M S Govindegowda, Dean (Academic) at ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru; Prof. S B Devaraju, Officer on Special Duty at Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru; Dr. S M Shashidhara, Retd. Principal of Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur; Mr. Lingaraj G Vaidya, Senior Grade Lecturer at B.V.V.S. Polytechnic, Bagalkot; and Mr. Shashank M Gowda, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE at Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Moodbidri.
During their visit to the Launchpads and Startups at Sahyadri, the ISTE delegates were highly impressed by the innovative ecosystem nurtured within the institution. The delegates commended the institution's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, enabling students to transform their ideas into viable startups. They highlighted the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between academia and industry, preparing students for real-world challenges.
